Carlos Loyzaga of the San Beda Red Lions because his contributions to his school, the league and Philippine basketball in general cannot be quantified.

Loyzaga gave championships to San Beda. While he was still a student, he was recruited to play for the national team and did the country proud by leading the Philippines to many honors both here and abroad.

Never has there been a player in the annals of Filipino basketball whose mere presence on the court alone can spell either victory or defeat, hence he was baptized "The Great Difference" by the late sporstcaster Willie Hernandez. In addition, Loyzaga had the charisma to attract fans wherever venue he played.

Finally after cementing his legacy, he bore two sons to continue that legacy in the person of Joaquin and Ernesto.

It would be more fair if we ask the best players for every decade or generation.

Yes, Caloy is a great player. But he himself said, the rules of the game during his time and the manner it was played suited him well- his skills and athletic ability. He added, his sons are much better players than him.
