While playing for Las Pinas College, John Paul Alcaraz was named as the Most Valuable Player as he led the Huskies to the 2002-2003 CUSA Championship over the University of the Assumption Blue Pelicans, 2-1. He then played briefly for PBL team Cheese Ball-Shark but this was only for a pre-season tournament and not a regular conference.

Alcaraz spent school year 2003-2004 undergoing his residency at Letran.
