Nyahahah..

Mapua now enjoys a solo lead after 3 games in the eliminations

Mapua d. JRU 76-62..

'twas an All-Mapua game.. Mapua led the game from first quarter down to the final buzz..

(when I entered the coliseum, it was 14-3 lead by the Cards)

earlier, PCU Dolphins upsets SBC Red Lions 55-41
(what a low scoring game)..

Sa susunod kulelat na yan uunahan pa yan ng Baste pero sigurado ko Letran mangunguna na naman sa susunod na laban.

ngayon lang yata magapakita ng magandang start ang Mapua in years.. since naabutan ko yan in 1998 until i graduated.

laging nasa gitna or sa ilalim lang ang MIT.. usually, second round bumabawi.. like in 2001. 9-5 and Mapua dun.

baka he was refering to san beda..

JRU's bara-bara strategy backfired as they simply ran the ball up the court. They were better off doing set plays like drop passes or post passes to McDonald Santos or creating screens to free Wynsjohn Te for outside shots. Reliable big man Ken Coyukang also struggled off the bench.

Already missing scoring machine Marco Fajardo, JRU got another blackeye when Santos left the game in the closing minutes with a suspected hamstring injury.

Anyway, Mapua leaned on creating mismatches. Consider Coach Horacio Lim fielding four players of almost the same height (6'2") and one big man. The opponent will not know who to match up against since all players are interchangeable!

Not much of story in this game since it was a laugher!

I think that is because of a certain rule in NCAA stating that a participating collegiate school must have a highschool counterpart. As we all know, Mapua high will be terminating its operation next year.

So without a HS, Mapua can't comply with that rule. That's how I understand the situation.

Segway muna. Don't you think that the Mapua defense is underrated? As you might have notice, they (the media) doesn't seem to give credit to the defense being put up by the cardinals. Well, if you look into the stats you may be deceived by the fact that Mapua allows the most number of points scored by the opposition. But if you are watching their previous three game closely, you'll notice that Mapua is good in depending in spurts. One or two defensive spurts enabled them to put up huge double digit leads.

The only problem is that they tend to relax after building such leads that they give up points in the fourth canto (e.g. vs CSB, Letran and JRU). But then again, their defensive streaks are lethal. Are you not wondering why the opposing teams seem to play lackluster when against Mapua? Its not coincidental, its because of the MIT defense.

Summing it all up, the Mapua defense is beyond the stats. You better watch the game to catch my drift, instead of being contented in reading bland sports articles.

Actually, Mapua is not applying for UAAP membership.

First off, they are not a university and I don't think they'll be one for at least two years. Even though the Mapua administration has hinted their desire to be a university, it is still in the planning stage. There are a lot to be accomplished first before arriving to that goal. And from what I was told, it won't be anytime soon. To be a university, an institution must have at least five fields of educational expertise.

Second, if and only if, they become a university, that does not guarantee them of an automatic UAAP member status. Kahit pa sabihin nyong si Yuchengco din ang may-ari ng Mapua.

Plus, the fact that they are not doing well in maintaining their remaining varsity teams does not speak well of the MIT admin's intent to improve their sports program. (FYI, several teams were scrapped just last year. e.g.Table tennis and Volleyball team).

ako rin, 3rd quarter pa lang tanggap ko na na talo ang Mapua..

Sorry guys, laki ng kasalanan ko.. nawala yung fighting spirit ko.. pano ba naman hinde nag-bo box out yung mapua.. 54 rebounds tuloy sa san beda.. tambak pa ng bente
