I'm an incoming senior in HS and I'm a little worried about what I'm going to take up in college... my interests lie in the arts, but my relatives told me I should take Nursing instead. Also, the arts don't exactly give high-paying jobs.

Anyway, several courses in mind include:
BA Linguistics
BA Journalism
B Fine Arts
BS HRM
B Interior Design
CCA
B Music
BA/BS Psychology
Nursing

I guess the list didn't help much because everything's too varied. I'll try basically anything but would opt for courses within my area of interest (arts and humanities) or my skills.

Those college terms can also get pretty confusing... what is it with the doctorates, BA/S, and all that? The schools should really give us seminars. :books:

:help:

Also, do we have to take review classes for the college entrance exams? Would you know any private tutors for this?

Hay... ang hirap pala tumanda. :cow:

I am moving this to The Academe. Maybe our friends there can be helpful after spending a few years in outstanding schools which are supposed to educate them.

If you take fine arts, you can work later on in advertising firms.

What about masscom? You'll be able to work at a television station later on.

Admittedly, it's much more lucrative to work as a nurse abroad, but do you really want to be a nurse? Would you be willing to earn your living primarily as a nurse then work on your artistic inclinations as a hobby?

I won't be able to help you with regards to college entrance review classes as I did not take one. I honestly don't know if it's helpful or not.

P.S., I think nursing is a noble profession, beffiting those who are compassionate, patient and have a sincere desire to serve.

my two cents:

i say go study what you are truly interested in. pursue a field of study that you truly feel passionate about.

on the other hand, in a utilitarian view of education, you go pursue a degree that will help you land a job in the shortest amount of time. (hello diploma mill)

don't worry too much about not being sure what major you are going to take up in college. i know people much older than you who are still as confused.

good luck.
