(Utrinski Vesnik, 10.03.2004) - Young Philippine poet Angelo V. Suarez is the first winner of Struga Bridges for his debut book “Nymph of the MTV.” The laureate was unanimously selected by a jury including Zoran Ancevski, Vlada Urosevic and Venko Andonovski after they has considered all the competing debut poetry books translated in English and French.
Struga Bridges was established with a cooperation agreement between the Macedonian Minister of Culture and UNESCO Secretary General signed during last year’s Struga Poetry Evenings.

Ancevski informed that 23 poets from 15 countries including Argentina, Azerbaijan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Estonia, Iran, Cyprus, Latvia, Lithuania, Macedonia, New Zealand, Oman, Tunisia, Croatia and Czech Republic competed for Struga Bridges.
Prior to the Struga Bridges award, Suarez bagged a Palanca award last year for his poetry collection.

The best literary tradition belongs to the University of Santo Tomas. :)
You can add Carlomar Daoana too, one of the budding writers (again) from ust.
*okay**okay**okay*

angelo suarez won his first palanca at 18. at 19 he has accomplished even more.
i hope he will succeed further. at sana, huwag lumaki ang ulo niya. sometimes, people who achieve early are unable to sustain their success when they get older.
i am happy suarez made it. he will certainly do better in the years to come.

angelo is really good, even his classmates (most of them on low-profile).
i'm not from literature though (because i'm from journalism) but i really admire the department. especially maam susana macapagal, the woman who made me love literature amid the technical dictates of journalism. ;)
congratulations to the ust! make this country proud.
kudos, 2011 is approaching.
