their website is at http://www.godivaskincare.com

i use their deodorant and it WORKS. doesn't itch like commercial brands. most importantly: hindi nakakaitim! a bit expensive at P98, but definitely worth it. their facial powder is also good, matches my skin tone well and really absorbs oil (unlike other so-called oil-controlling powders).

i'm just beginning to use the fruit acid revitalizing complex... and beginning to notice slight improvement on my skin.

obviously i'm a fan of their products already. their prices may be a bit steep but like i said, they work so they're worth it. also helps that you patronize a local company so in a way you help the economy as well, haha :D

I'm using it also, and its VERY effective.

mahal ang Godiva compared sa "mass-produced" comm'l brands, pero compared sa mga foreign/int'l skincare products, mura na siya. saka oks lang talaga yung presyo, worth it talaga.

ito yung mga prices na alam ko:
licorice whitening antiperspirant deodorant - P98
fruit acid revitalizing complex (20g) - P200+
pressed powder - P160
refill - P90+
squalene anti-stress lotion (100ml) - P85

BTW, iba yung prices na nasa website nila, mas mahal! (like the deodorant goes for $6) malamang for customers abroad ang rates na ito

after irecommend ito sa akin ng ka officemate ko, i will definitely recommend this also.
Samantalang eto (anti blemish soap - 75, anti blemish astringent - 70 and cream - 250), only cost me less than 400 bucks and it's very effective. i dont usually give testimony, gusto ko lang i share yung happiness na nararamdaman ko using their product.

I heard alot about GODIVA products though I have never use any but for those who are welling to have fair complexion I heard there products are good or probably the best(without taking anything).

It is probably the natural skin whitening compared to any pills(which is harmful to anyones health).

The Godiva lightening lip gloss became an instant hit when it was made available in Manila early this year. (Foreign customers got it first before Manila?!) Madalas stock out ang mga outlets because of rave reviews from users. Really effective in turning dark lips to pinkish tinge...even for nipples too! I just wonder for which application has greater demand, lips or nipples?

di ba sabi sa instruction 2wice a day daw pag apply ng lotion? okay lang ba if once a day lang? will u see the effect on 7 days? and if u used it for longer din ba mas magiging white ka pa ba?as in pa white ka ng pa white the longer u use it? answer nyo po thanks :)

firestorm
May 28, 2005, 09:31 PM
I suppose if you use the lotion once a day only, you will get slower result than when following the twice a day instruction. There is a limit as to how light you can be with any whitening product, and the most reasonable expectation is getting back your original skin color, but aspiring for one to two tones lighter than original color is not impossible although more difficult to achieve with most people.

firestorm

Godiva's soaps are all transparent. You can therefore easily see if there is uod in a new Godiva soap. That must be a case of improper storage by the user kasi nakita daw ang uod after a while.

firestorm
Jul 9, 2005, 07:36 PM
If you use Godiva anti-blemish (acne) cream, you won't need anymore the Fruit Acid cream. Once-a-day application before bedtime is usually sufficient.

For whole body lightening, twice daily application of Godiva whitening lotion is recommended, after cleansing with whitening bath soap. I use the bath soap only once daily.

ok na ba yun? or kailangan complete set talaga with anti-blemish soap and astringent for best results as stated there..hehe.

ok lang ba gamitin ko yung astringent for oily skin ? kasi yung ilong ko lang ang oily saken eh.

firestorm
Jul 23, 2005, 08:40 PM
If you have break-outs, dapat siguro you use the complete anti-blemish set. Break-outs kasi mean panic time so you have to follow strictly the regimen. But if you just want to control skin oiliness, baka puede na ang soap and astringent lang. Baka lang, just thinking out loud. Or maybe that is false economy and may result in acne break-outs now and then. Let's hear the experience of others.

speeka
Jul 30, 2005, 06:15 PM
yung anti-acne cream ba dun lang dapat talaga sa affected areas? hindi ba advisable na iapply all over my face para maiwasan ang breakouts? :)

I agree. Their pressed powder is even better than MAC, but Godiva should improve the sponge. Daling matanggal ng logo. And once it is washed, hirap ng gamitin. It's good they sell replacement sponge but still, this is one area Godiva has to improve on.

i use the under arm and lip gloss and the whitening cream. The product for me works also i ahve sensitive skin, godiva has no alcohol and fragrance free. for the under arm, i like it kasi di nag stain sa shirt and wala scent. usualy d probs with deo mag stain sa damit and sooner dry and it hardens sd cloth s shirt. it easily dry for me. i just started using d lip gloss 3 weeks ago, effective also and my cousin tried it on her nip, it has improvement. white ing cream is good also, i use it to lighten some dark sopts in my body sa scars.

It now has a sticker on the cap with the following text: "For maximum wetness protection, apply before bedtime." Does this mean it will work better as anti-perspirant if applied at night? I think it's alright to use the whitening and anti-blemish products at the same time. Just allow maybe five minutes in-between application. Yong Godiva lip gloss, pag pinkish na lips mo, lessen your use to every other day or so to prevent your lips from going pale.

I think you should not use the anti-blemish astringent and whitening astringent one-after-another. You might overdry your skin. Use one in the morning and the other astringent in the evening. The others, ok lang siguro.

The AB astringent and cream also have the licorice whitening agents anyway. You could drop the whitening muna.... Or, yeah, kahit use AB astringent and cream during the day, and the whitening astringent and cream at night. I've never used the whitening regimen, but halatang pumuti yung face ko anyway.

In between my Godiva AB + fruit acid revitalizing complex regimen, I also sneak in an application of Benzac AC all over my face. My skin has never looked better! I used to have really oily skin, but not anymore. :D

Yong Godiva anti-blemish cream, pang acne na, pang acne scars pa. May exfoliation and whitening action din kasi. You can spot apply to lighten acne scars.

I find the Godiva green tea sunblock difficult to apply. But I found a way to solve this. On mornings, I apply Godiva whitening cream. Immediately after, I apply the Godiva sunblock. Because my skin is still damp with the whitening cream, it is now easier to spread the sunblock. Try this also!

Why Assunta? This excerpt of a write-up on Assunta in Manila Bulletin, June 11, 2006 issue will explain it:

Now that she’s Godiva’s official endorser, Assunta wants to address women out there who are not born with white skin that beauty is in your natural color. She admitted that she used to be unhappy and unsatisfied with her olive skin and there was a time that she was obsessed with all kinds of whitening products. Times, however, have changed and she realized she must be happy with the skin that she was born with.

"When you say whitening product, the person who should endorse it should have fair skin. That’s what I thought before but when the people of Godiva explained to me that Godiva enhances your natural color and that you don’t have to be white to be beautiful, I accepted their offer right away," she shared.

Agree. You don't have to be white to be beautiful. Tigilan na kasi dapat ang sobrang emphasis sa pagiging maputi para maging maganda.

The Godiva skin-care campaign shift

‘Be proud of your natural beauty’

By Terrie B. Fucanan

ALTHOUGH nearly every skin-care brand in the market has joined the skin-whitening bandwagon, one of the trend’s pioneers has unexpectedly rehashed its campaign to advocate natural beauty. Hence its new slogan: “Beautiful skin does not have to mean white. The best skin color is the one you’re born with. Be proud of your natural beauty.”

The campaign is positive and promising, but it may be Godiva’s riskiest move as well, given that the 10-year-old local skin-care brand is strongly identified as a leader in the skin-whitening business. It was the first to introduce in the Philippines the licorice extract—an expensive but clinically proven whitening ingredient, through soaps, lotions, toners and creams, which jump-started the trend in the beauty market.

Speculators believe that the new campaign may only shake up the brand’s already strong consumer base, and spark confusion as to its genuine position on the issue of beauty.

Notes young lawyer Anne, a Godiva user: “It’s a vague shift. All its products have a whitening ingredient. The new campaign doesn’t complement the product.”

Says Lyn, a 24-year-old office employee: “Why do I need to use the product then if I should be proud of my natural beauty?”

Godiva president Fred Reyes issued a practical explanation about the company’s campaign shift. On June 8 at the formal launch of the Godiva Natural Beauty campaign, he pointed out: “The whitening rage has gone overboard already. We want to correct it.”

An effective whitening product cannot miraculously transform dark skin to white. But it can lighten and even out skin tone, remove blemishes and discolorations and make the skin clearer and more radiant—depending on the person’s skin type and the frequency of product use.

In a clinical trial report in 2002, licorice showed lightening improvements to skin with melasma in seven days. Vitamin C ranked second, hydroquinone came third, while kojic acid and melawhite came in fourth and fifth place in terms of rate of activity.

Reyes pointed out that some skin-care manufacturers have gone out of control in its inaccurate claims about whitening, with some brands already carrying harmful chemicals in their products that may cause allergic reactions and overtime, even skin cancer.

Such worsening phenomenon, he said, prompted the company to change its marketing position. “Our products use natural ingredients that are proven safe and effective. As we highlight this we also want to tell our consumers to not overdo themselves with whitening products,” Reyes said. “We should all be proud of our own complexion, as long as it is even toned, clear and clean.”

To clearly impart this new message the company signed up a one-year endorsement deal with the actress Assunta de Rossi. Reyes said his company believes the young wife of Negros Occidental Rep. Jules Ledesma would best embody Godiva’s new catchphrase: “You do not have to be white to be beautiful.”

The 23-year-old actress couldn’t agree more. She confessed: “I used to be obsessed with whitening products. I wasn’t happy with my color.”

Several years of trying out various whitening products only gave her frustration. “I realized I should be happy with my olive skin,” she said. “Besides, even if I turn white, it wouldn’t look good on me because my skin’s undertone is yellow. I’d only look yellowish instead of fair.”

Reyes added: “People are born with naturally soft and even-toned skin. But due to stress and harsh elements, the skin loses its natural glow. This is what our brand works to achieve—bring back the best in your natural beauty.”

Godiva Inc. started marketing the Godiva Natural Skin Care product line in 1996 through the assistance of its sister company, Chemworld Marketing Corp. Chemworld was then having difficulty selling licorice extract to local skin-care product manufacturers, for a kilo of its purified form costs P1 million today.

The Godiva skin-care line paved for the wonder ingredient’s penetration into the local beauty industry. In 2000 the company expanded its reach worldwide through the online store www.godivaskincare.com, and in 2004 and 2005 it opened the Godiva Skin Station, a beauty and wellness center at SM Fairview and Makati Bel-Air.

Reyes vowed that his company will stand firm in promoting natural beauty, and the responsible use of whiteners and other beauty aids in the years to come. Finally, he said, Godiva has found its rightful position in the market, beyond the bounds of excessive commercialism.

“It’s about time a beauty product make this kind of claim,” says Jeje Jose, a whitening product user. “It’s honest, straightforward and socially responsible.”

Pag suki ka ng acne, mas mabuting i-apply mo yong anti-blemish cream sa whole face. Pag paminsan-minsan lang ang break-outs, okay na yong spot application.

i've been reading this thread a lot of times already. i had acne breakouts since i went back to the philippines last year. i am not really sure why/how i got it because i only stayed in the states for 6 months and i never really had acne before, even when i was still in puberty.

anyway, i tried the anti-blemish regimen: soap, astringent and cream. in two days, i noticed on my face changes already! my zits stopped being "pasaway" and they all dried up. the scars did lightened but i noticed it after 2 weeks of religious application.

also i had a facial, after a month of application and the lady said that i have a "clean" face, i didn't have much white heads/black heads daw... it surprised me, because i used to have a lot on my nose.

galing!!! :D

Samantalang eto (anti blemish soap - 75, anti blemish astringent - 70 and cream - 250), only cost me less than 400 bucks and it's very effective. i dont usually give testimony, gusto ko lang i share yung happiness na nararamdaman ko using their product.

I agree. I've used Godiva's Anti-Blemish Cream and it worked for me. My acne scars lightened up. :) Although hindi pa siya completely nawawala, I can see the results already. :)

Okay iyung lip gloss, it's still far from making my upper lip same-colored as my lower lip, but it's working. Getting there baga.

When I checked the pressed powders, the fair shade looked darker than nude. So I didn't take it, cause my skin is actually quite fair. Owel. BTW, the packaging of that powder is very flimsy, it's hard to open it.

I've used expensive face powders in the market... but the best is still Godiva. Hiyang ako both sa product and sa price. Wag lang sana magmahal! heheh. The sponge has a short life span though... but who cares... you can use other sponge naman. Galing siya talaga. After reading the other entries... I'm thinking of trying the fruit cream too.

The news travels fast! I got this from GT:

What You Should Know About Vitamin C

There has been an exponential increase in the number of skin lightening, skin rejuvenation, and anti-wrinkle products with Vitamin C. Do they work? Do their claims have any merit? Vitamin C does possess definite benefits for skin lightening, wrinkle reduction and skin rejuvenation. However, most Vitamin C products don't work.

Why is Vitamin C good for the skin? Vitamin C is good for the skin because the body uses up a lot of it as the first line of defense. It protects the skin's layers from damage caused by sun, smoke and aging. Older skin, in particular, may not get enough Vitamin C from the body's internal blood supply. Topical application to areas which need antioxidant protection is a good alternative.

How does Vitamin C act as an antioxidant? Visible signs of aging like fine lines, wrinkles and age spots are caused by molecules known as free radicals. They dramatically multiply with exposure to sun, tobacco smoke, air pollution and other environmental assaults, damaging skin cells and breaking down collagen that gives skin its youthful resilience. Vitamin C serves as an antioxidant by neutralizing free radicals.

Why is ordinary Vitamin C a poor choice? Conventional Vitamin C (ascorbic acid) is so unstable it oxidizes and becomes useless upon contact with water, heat and light. It degrades rapidly that 90% of its potency is gone after the first month in a topical product. Ordinary Vitamin C goes right into the water component, where it doesn't stand a chance against oxidation. Once degraded, it has no more vitamin potency, on or off the skin.

What's different about Godiva Vitamin C 10% Serum? Godiva Vitamin C 10% Serum is the smart choice for topically applied Vitamin C. It won't irritate the skin the way ordinary acidic Vitamin C does. It penetrates deeply through the tough epidermal barrier of the skin. Its contents in the bottle is still potent, so when you apply it, it sends concentrated stable Vitamin C directly to the skin.

Achieve B.R.I.G.H.T. Skin with Godiva Vitamin C 10% Serum

B - Brightens and lightens skin for more even skin tone

R - Reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles

I - Inhibits UV aging for younger looking skin

G - Great on skin before applying make-up

H - Helps unclog pores to control acne break-outs

T - Tightens and firms skin by boosting collagen production

How does it get Vitamin C directly into the skin without degrading? Godiva Vitamin C 10% Serum contains a uniquely stable bioactive form of Vitamin C (magnesium ascorbyl phosphate) that doesn't degrade rapidly like other Vitamin C preparations do (Source: Journal of Pharmaceutical and Biomedical Analysis, Volume 15, Issue 6, March 1997, pages 795-801). It retains at least 90% of its Vitamin C activity for two years at room temperature. This means that consumers get the Vitamin C they expect, so it can penetrate the skin as Vitamin C, not in degraded form.

Is there clinical study proving that Vitamin C can lighten skin? A study on magnesium ascorbyl phosphate demonstrated that it can be effective for skin lightening when used at 10% concentration (Source: Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology, January 1996, pages 29-33). You will find the same form and potency of bioactive Vitamin C in Godiva Vitamin C 10% Serum.

How do I get the most from Godiva Vitamin C 10% Serum? Apply a few drops of Godiva Vitamin C 10% Serum to clean face and neck. You may also apply on arms, hands, and other body parts. For better results, use with other Godiva creams. Godiva Vitamin C 10% Serum helps make the Godiva Green Tea Sunblock more effective and should be part of your daily morning regimen. Regular exfoliation with Godiva Fruit Acid cream and monthly diamond peel treatment will enhance penetration of the serum into the skin,

Should I also take a Vitamin C supplement? Yes. Taking Vitamin C orally helps your skin inside and out, while Godiva Vitamin C 10% Serum works from the outside in.

MommyG, are you an employee (or manager) or Godiva? I purchased a Tea Trea Oil sunblock cream there the last time I visited, and I asked if there is a discount and they sold the product to me at full price!!! They KNOW that I'm a member because I just had an IPL treatment at a discounted rate.

Not only did they take a very long time before getting my pay, the girl didn't know what numbers to punch and they had to repeat again and again how much she had to punch (magbabayad na nga lang, antagal pa!), they also discredited my membership and did not give me a discount for the sunblock! I didn't leave a tip, nakakaasar! :\

I'm going back soon to have another IPL treatment... :\ Sana iba na ang service. The Godiva Station that I signed in was better than that. I even recommended it to many of my girl friends and gave them products as birthday gifts.

Tama, Vitamin C can whiten your skin, but not as much as Licorice. But the benefits of using Vitamin C extend farther than that of using Licorice ;) If you just want to get whiter, then use Licorice. Younger and a tad whiter, use Vitamin C. Ayos?
