Hi! I'm planning to have my hair straightened, but I don't know what treatment to do and where pinaka ok.
My hair is kinda big and wavy, i have dead hair, and umaalsa sya pag natuyo na. I'm thinking of having hair relax or hair straightening treatment. What's the difference???
Ayoko ata magparebond.
And san ok magpatreat na not too expensive???

I had my hair relaxed at Les Pappu (Katipunan). The chemical being used with hair relax is milder compared to hair straightening. So it really depends sa hair mo on what treatment to use. I paid P2,200, with cellophane na un (and my hair is long). Reasonably priced talaga, may free shampoo and conditioner, free hair cream and vitamin d oil and hair serum pa.
They have branches at SM Fairview, Robinson's Galleria and Katipunan (near The Barn).
Tip lang, if you want your hair straightened or relaxed, have it treated sa mga STRAIGHTENING salons talaga and not sa mga usual beauty parlors/salons.

I always have my hair straightened in Going Straight. Madami silang mga branches all over Luzon. It's milder than what they use in Freshaire. Sobrang lambot ng hair mo after mo i-conditioner, promise! I recommend you to buy the smallest conditioner (wag ka na bumili ng shampoo nila) and ubusin mo un. pag naubos na, pwede ka na gumamit ng ibang conditioner. kung baga, para lang palambutin pa *** hair mo. thumbs up *okay*
bat ayaw mo rebond? :) It's actually milder than the other straightening procedures.

i had an extenso done at salon de soleil, examiner st ata yun. it's about 1600 for long hair. but then i had it relaxed also for 800 para daw softer yung hair. ok naman, it's been 7 months and my hair is still pretty straight. not that it was frizzy before, pero more of too much volume. with extenso, they use milder chemicals than with straightening alone. and pwede daw even if you've dyed your hair.

i also had extenso but i had it done at piandre (not too keen on trying other parlors coz of the fear of damaging my hair).. not exactly cheap at 7k-- to think my hair is just barely past my shoulders and not really kinky and thick, but definitely well worth it! til now my hair is still straight and shiny and soft.. best of all i dont have to blow dry everyday! :)
what i find more expensive is the maintenance.. i use kerastase shampoo, mask (works like a conditioner) and serum-- definitely a must have if you've got treated hair.

isn't an ordinary conditioner e.g. cream silk enough for a treated hair? what about mane 'n tail conditioner or other deep conditioning products?

FrenchFries18--> i originally thought that extenso was offered lang in piandre, di pala.. but i think they're one of the pioneers. ;) ive read bout it kasi in cosmopolitan that was why i went there.. never mind the price.. it IS a good investment.
Dorcas--> i think it's better to use salon-formula shampoo and conditioner if you have treated hair.. like me, ive always had treated hair (relax, hair color, rebond..) and ive always thought na reg shampoo and conditioner will do but after ive tried using kerastase, there's such a big diff! basta buy from parlors.. mane and tail kse is advisable if you have fine hair para kumapal yung strands but really, it does nothing to make your hair straight or whatever.

jlow, take edsa, then turn left at quezon avenue. turn right at the corner where you see a BPI bank (corner). it's along that block at the right side. beside grills and sizzlers. i don't have their phone number but better if you make an appointment, kasi 5-6 hours yun treatment and i think 2 lang yung pwede gumawa nun.

Extenso is loreal's version of rebonding. They have different formulas to match different kinds of hair.
Diba ur from pampanga? We have a distributor who supplies to most salons there. I forgot their no. but their exact address is: DEOR MARKETING 1073 Miranda Street, Angeles City (near the church).
In place of the expensive serums, you may buy from them Ashe Fresh Mane Polishing Drops. For exxtra conditioning, try Ashe Professionals Hair Spa. For regular conditioning, try Ashe Fresh Mane Coconut Conditioner (this has the same formula as the one you buy in Gong Straight). :)

im really interested in having my hair rebonded. since u do rebonding, do u happen to know the best chemicals to use and why?! coz there are a lot of hair straighteners like thioglycolate or sodium hydroxides... and im sure that there would be a certain chemical that would be best fit, safest or most effective in keeping hair straight and soft. but the problem is... i wouldnt know better!!!
Sana nga some salons would pose a pic of before and afters but they dont and consumers here dont have the habit of looking at what's being put on them.
i hope ul be kind enough to answer my questions... id really be thankful.

well among all the availabe straightening solutions in the market, rebonding seems to be the mildest which uses ammonium thioglycolate. Sodium hydroxide ksi is harsher and has a higher pH level which can cause the hair to become brittle.
Rebonding also has a more natural finish - soft and shiny. Yun nga lang medyo matagal yung procedure so you have to be ready for this. Also, make sure yung gagawa syo marunong talaga kasi minsan if hindi marunong yung gumagawa, they either overcook or undercook your hair wih the solution. Pag overcooked, it can damage your hair. Pagundercooked naman, may tendency na bumalik hair. Others naman sobra sa ironing or uses irons that dont have temperature regulators thus subjecting hair to extreme heat which can also be damaging. Usually, damages that result from rebonding are caused by procedural mistakes rather than by the solution itself. Ammonium thioglycolate based straightening solutions are milder, in fact it can be applied using bare hands... unlike hydroxide based ones where you have to use gloves or risk wounding your hands.
i hope i was able to answer your questions. :)

i havent used extenso yet since we have our own brand.
For maintenance, it's basically just regular conditioning. Some also use gloss drops to enhance the shine of rebonded hair.

i used to have my hair straightened at jun encarnacion, the main branch in laong laan. it cost me 1,500 then including celophane. i stopped going there when i noticed my hair doesn't seem to respond anymore, it looks dry after a few months. hot oil na lang. and then rebonding was in vogue. okay magparebond coz ang lambot talaga. david's is okay, costs me 7,000 including kerastase hair care. 4,000 kung plain rebond lang pero ang ganda sa buhok ng kerastase. sulit. matagal din ang effect with constant hot oil.
hair relax is okay kung di masyadong course ang hair mo. if it is, parang nagpa-hot oil ka lang. might as well go for rebond.

May balak kami ng sister ko magpa-relax ng hair. Naghahanap ako ng magandang salon 'cause I've tried getting my hair done(relax) at david's and it was good for only 2 months. Ngayon medyo pangit na ang strands ng buhok ko. It's so dry and I cannot go out pag hindi nakaplantsa! Anong pwedeng gawin para wash and wear na lang ang buhok? I couldn't afford to splurge naman, maybe hair maintenance siguro. any suggestions? :*)

iba iba yung quotation nila sa going straight, it depends sa tumitingin as well as sa david's. ndi pare pareho ang tantya nila. pero compared to david's mas mahal yung sa going straight. i've ask before and with my hair 2 inches long from the shoulder, it would cost 2800 without hot oil or wax and haircut. so i've tried davids and it only cost me 2100 with hair but and hot oil.

Im really serious in this post and i hope you also take it seriously. Just a concerned citizen.
i just had my hair rebond... but i dont know if i could recommend that parlor to you guys although my hair from frizzy turned silky straight and shiny. for one... the parlor who did my hair didnt practice the PRECAUTIONARY MEASURES which clients have the right to demand for their safety. I hjad allergic reactions... the precautionary measures are listed at the end of the post.
I had a friend who had done relaxing and because the parlor didnt practice the precautionary measure either... after three days she came out with falling hair all over the shower room.
I just learned that the chemical used for rebonding, which is thioglycolate, is the same chemical used for some hair removal creams. Please mind that this is no ordinary hair remover... it is used in PERMANENT HAIR REMOVERS. You can check it thru that internet that what im telling is true and explains the multiple complaints of clients with falling hairs after relax or rebonding.
If only i learned about this earlier.. i wouldnt have let the parlor do my hair without the precuationary practice.

PRECAUTIONARY MEATURES:
1. use of proctective creams in teh scalp and hairline
2. ear muffs
3. all creams or solution must not be applied to less than one inch from the hair root

My hair is past my shoulders. Inabot ako ng P3000+ kasi they had to use 3 tubes of that Wella formula for my hair (that's how thick and curly it is!) They have a standard rate for the relax and rebond. But it depends on the number of tubes they use. For people with hair not as thick as mine, usually 1-2 tubes ok na daw. If I recall, P1300 ata yung relax and the rebond is about P6000 but I don't recall the exact amount.
Relax nga lang nga ang pinagawa ko kasi I don't want it too flat pero it was almost a rebond kasi they had to use the straightening iron on my hair kasi sobrang pagod na yung nag-blower sa hair ko.
Ino is really good kasi binantayan talaga niya yung hair ko. He kept on checking it during the duration. Not to mention they also apply the pre-spray which protects the hair before they apply the cream.
I think my hair looks great and I don't even have to have it blowdried to have a nice body. This is by far the best job I have had done on my hair. Considering it has been 3 years since I had a relax job done...
I was a bit apprehensive at first because I had a bad experience with falling hair and hair breakage before, hence I let my hair grow out curly for the last 3 years. But this time I had no falling hair or breakage whatsoever.

For the benefit of other people...
I had explained why falling hair can occur after rebond to some people. Thioglycolate is also used in hair removing creams. Iv posted the precautionary measure u can take to avoid this above.
I think if the parlor doesnt use OIL BASED protective creams in their procedure, for 3 days or even more before u're going for a rebond session... be careful NOT to shampoo ur SCALP (just shampoo ur hair strands). This will retain the oil film in your scalp. HOw can this oil film protect you!? IT will repel the water solution away just like oil and water in spoon. On the otherhand you want your hair strands to be clean so that the straightening solution can penetrate you hair shaft.
I don't know how much of a proctection this would be but i kknow it's gonna be a big help coz oil and water don't mix together. It will take more time for the solution to start penetrating your scalp and breaking your hair roots ore ven follicles.

i bought my shampoo, conditioner and serum at piandre when i had my extenso.. til now i use kerastase oleo relax (it's the one in orange containers) stuff. the shampoo, i think around 200ml, costs approx 1200 then the 500ml conditioner around 3500 then the small bottle of serum (which lasts for a month lang) costs around 1300.. quite expensive actually but it's good maintenance for the hair. i had extenso last mar and til now soft pa rin hair ko. if you're on a budget, i suggest you buy the conditioner lang coz the shampoo, you can use any shampoo naman and the serum, you can try citre shine- though it's much greasier than the kerastase serum but pwede na rin

do freshaire and going straight offer regular straightening or relaxing service that won't further damage color-treated hair?

ang alam ko going straight, oo. but i think they require a certain time frame from when you color-treated ur hair. they usually ask if your hair's color-treated so i guess they do something different if it is....

i just had my hair rebond... but i dont know if i could recommend that parlor to you guys although my hair from frizzy turned silky straight and shiny. for one... the parlor who did my hair didnt practice the PRECAUTIONARY MEASURES which clients have the right to demand for their safety.
This scared me. A lot. Since hindi ko alam what ginamit sa buhok ko. And I too have falling hair mula nung magpa-straight ako last week. As in madami talagang nalalagas, as i've described before, from the roots. When i inspect yung hair na natatanggal, parang week yung na yung kapit niya sa ulo ko.
What solution do you guys recommend pag ganitong case?
I'm taking extra doses of vitamin E. sabi nila it helps, pero still...

I had my hair rebonded last monday (July5) by a's staff, c badeth.
The session took 12 hrs!!! grabe no! as in tagal! But i am grateful with badeth and her assistant, super tyaga nila.
Actually, i had my hair rebonded na last year (by a salon near our place), august 2003. Although i like the result din naman, but may mga part lang sa hair ko na madali nag wave..though ndi naman pangit...but...wala lang, gusto ko lang na ma-straight talaga hair ko kaya i decided to try other rebonding service...na dapat kaya din ng budget :D I've read some good feedback on a's service...so yun, sya kinontak ko.
Hair ko kasi is buhaghag, as in buhaghag, yung tipong ndi mo talaga malulugay, lagi lang naka pony tail. It was almost a year na kasi since my last rebonding kaya haba na ng bagong tubong hair.
As of now, i really like my hair, bagsak, soft and shiny sya, ganda daw sabi ng mga officemates ko. But of course, this is because ndi ko pa sya binabasa since monday..it was ironed kasi kaya bagsak na bagsak hair...di daw pede basain hair ng 3days after rebonding. Today is the 3rd day ( sobrang init na init na nga ko sa hair ko e ;) ), so i am to see the real result tom...i'll keep you guys posted. :)
a, or to anybody who knows...is it really advisable to treat your hair with cellophane after rebonding? Dami kasi advise sakin na ganun daw gawin ko para ma-lock yng pagka-straight ng hair. Is this true? What’s the best maintenance ba for rebonded hair? Para din tumagal yng effect ng rebond.

here are some tips:
1. You should never use BRUSH on wet rebonded hair coz wet hair is even more fragile.
2. do not rub towel on wet hair coz u dont want to damage the cuticles. just pat ur hair dry.
3. comb hair VERY LIGHTLY when wet.
4. use mild shampoo (use the tried and tested ones... avoid experimenting on shampoos which you're not familiar with)
5. use conditioner
6. keep ur hair as straight as possible even when shampooing to avoid tangles.
7. don't pony ur hair... and if you cannot avoid this... use wider bands with silk covering like scrunchi.
8. avoid blow drier.

Thanks for the tips badbreath! :) I'll definetely do that.
Update naman sa hair ko :D
So i washed my hair this morning, mdyo kabado kasi baka bumuhaghag, hehehe kasi syempre wala na yng effect ng plantsa...i didn't air dry my hair sa electric fan and i went out of the house na basa pa hair ko...And the result was really satisfactory!! Konti lang difference nya sa ironed hair...bagsak and malambot pa din. Sa mga officemates ko, nobody notices na ndi na plantsado hair ko, hehehe :)
Thumbs up ako kay a *okay* and of course kay badeth and her assistant na nagtyaga sa hair ko for 12hours :) My boyfriend said it's far from my previous rebonding, although ndi din naman bad yng previous rebonding ko but now, straight na daw talaga hair ko ngayon, soft and shiny pa. Though may tiny (as in tiny lang ****:) ) part sa hair ko na i think na over look dahil pag nahahanginan, mdyo bumubuhaghag ng konti..but over all, ok talaga sya. I called a and she said she can have my hair checked by badeth and if its needed, she'll have that part of the hair treated again...o di ba, ok?
Ashe has a promo, if you buy their ceramic iron, you'll get the rebonding 1 & 2 creams for free..that's for P2,500. Nag order na ako but sabi ko next month ko na padeliver, and dun na *** nya pa-check sa staff nya hair ko para isang punta na ***. Manageable p ** **** hair ko even with that super tiny problem part, and besides, nagbubuhaghag *** **** yng part na un pg nahahanginan, hehe.
Pa-rebond na kayo kay a, you'll never regret it! Request nyo din c
badeth gumawa :)

I went to a salon and requested for a treatment (Extenso, as my friend said this salon offers it rather reasonably), but I think it came off like a semi-rebond (it was called a relax by the salon, but since my hair was ironed three times, the stylists called it a semi-rebond). The effect is great, my hair looks like it's been rebonded. Question lang, do I have to use a special shampoo? The people in the salon didn't mention any special shampoos, but my friend who had a rebond says you should use Kerastase or L'Oreal. Is that necessary?

Loreal has very good products, especially their Kerastase line but since it's their high end line, they're quite pricey too. It's not really necessary but as in any hair thathas been subjected to chemical treatments, any conditioning and moisturizing care to hair would be good. If u want, you can opt for our hair spa which is much less expensive but equally effective (in fact a lot of salons have converted to our brand) - it costs only P199.95 per 500g. For everyday conditioning, u may want to try our new Henna Conditioning Treatment selling for P125/500 g, P100 each only if you buy 2. It's better than your ordinary conditioner, in fact some salons substitiute it for their hot oil treatment. We also have hot oil selling for P157.90/500g. Should you be interested, please feel free to call our office at 9137386 or email us at ashe@globe.com.ph

Hi,
I had my hair rebonded almost a year ago and was extremely happy with the results. Now, some of my hair has grown out and it's beginnning to become unruly and wavy again. I had mine done at Crispin Brittanico in Glorietta before for 5.5 K. Took me about 5 hours and 3 (at times even 4!) staff handling it. BTW, the formula used was Xtenso. I want to have my hair done again, but it's quite pricey. Can anyone suggest other salons offering Xtenso for a reasonable price? I understand that undergoing rebonding the 2nd time around won't be as costly as the first time as it is considered a "retouch" already, can anyone give any suggestions?
BTW, I really vouch for the Keratase line, I tried some sample bottles given during the Piandre anniversary. The shampoo and masqueintense alone has made my hair softer and straighter without having to blowdry or hot iron! BUt I still wanna get my hair rebonded again....

Yung hair ko, thick and buhaghag rin that's why I don't want to cut my hair short dahil lalong kakapal but super gusto ko nang magpaikli ng hair for a change... so I cut my hair and para di umalsa pina-straight ko sa Freshaire Festival Mall. And so far happy naman ako sa outcome, di na mukhang afro ang hair ko pag bagong gising ako.

i've got quite thick hair and its pretty curly. so that's a bad combo. when i came home last year i wanted to get my hair rebonded pero tinanggihan ako ng Salon De Manila kasi half my hair was bleached (i had a shadowing effect kasi, where half my hair was natural and the bottom half of it was bright red) so i was quite sad that i didnt get a chance to have it rebonded.
now, glad na ako na hindi ako nagparebond. kasi sometimes i like my hair curly, sometimes i like it straight. i just bought the best hair straightener ever and its my new bestfriend! the GHD ceramic hair straightener (http://www.ghdhair.com/uk/products/ghd-ceramic-hairstyling-iron.php) is so easy to use, and so quick pag gusto ko istraight ang buhok ko. although mahal siya, its so worth it. kaya currently happy na ako with my hair. :) :)

*** GHD na sinasabi ko is un ceramic styling iron. i'm not sure where you can buy it in the philippines, cos i live here in australia so i'm not really sure kung saan nabibili yan diyan. you can call up places like salon de manila or salon de orient and inquire if they know this hairstraighter. if you're not sucessful check on ebay kung meron ka mabibili na mura dun. I bought mine at my local hair salon for $300. very expensive but its so worth the money. its takes 20-30 mins to straighten your hair, and no matter how curly, frizzy or buhaghag ang hair mo, this hairstraighter WILL d its job :D
Good luck girl! :)

haha kilala ko yan si A ah . . . Ashe products . . .
HEY A!
interesado nga ko magparebond sayo, pero sa ngyon di pa pede coz i swim tapos magbibeach pa, mababasa haha . . . so available na pala *** products nyo sa mga salons . . . di ba may website kyo? whatz the address again?
Hey OHNO! sorry i havent had the time to check here til now... yup available na siya matagal na! :) musta? just let me kno when you're ready to have your hair rebonded :)
Hi a! Im interested to buy the henna conditioning treatment, is it ok to use in any type of hair? my friend is preggy is it safe for her to use it? We're here n Paranaque area, if we want to buy how can we get the products? Thanks! :)
Hi sorry for the late reply... just logged in today. anyways, yup it's ammonia-free so it's really safe to use for anyone. We have a new product which is very similar to powerdose in terms of effectiveness... would youlike to try this instead? Meydo mas mahal nga lang siya but it's definitely priced much much lower than loreal.
We have an agent who handles Paranaque area, we can make arrangements for you to meet up or drop it off at ur place. Bka kasi mahal if we ship it eh, sayang naman. :)
You may call us at 9137386 or email ashe@globe.com.ph for more info.

if you're talking about the "hortaleza professional" brand found in HBC, it's a big no-no to use at home... in fact there's a "For Professional Use Only" disclaimer at the back if you damage your hair using the product. (I know because I designed the label for this and several of their other products...hehe...) I know the supplier of these products to them and I would rather not comment regarding their effectiveness but maybe you can ask your nearby salons for comments :crazytongue:. There's a high risk that you might damage your hair or scalp if you DIY since this type of relaxer is even harsher than your rebonding solutions.
It would still be best to have a professional or an experienced personnel to do your straightening requirements. Trust me, while the procedure seems easy, a lot of experience is needed so you dont end up damaging ur hair e.g. duration you subject your hair to the cream, testing, hair texture, etc.

hi a, ask ko *** what kerastase product/s would u recommend for a dry and thich hair? thanks!
glad u liked it wlalng :) You may want to take a look at the Kerastase Nutritive line... more details at www.kerastase.com. Kerastase is good tho quite pricey. If you want, I have a new product that works just as well... in fact I think, it's comparable to powerdose in terms of effectiveness but syempre much much lower in terms of pricing kasi you pay for the product, not the brand ;) Unlike other OTCs that just coats your hair, this product works from within. (Gosh i sound like a commercial ad... but it's true, i love it's effect on my hair and am really proud of it... in fact several salon chains have already included it in their product lines to replace either their cellophane or powerdose treatments.)
If you're interested or have more questions, feel free to email me at ashe@globe.com.ph

A bit off-topic... but if you're planning to have your hair rebonded, don't have it done at H SALON! Two of my friends had their hair done there around December/January. The first day (I was with them) it looked really good. But after they washed their hair... wala na. Well it was straighter as compared to their original hair, but it wasn't bagsak or super shiny. In fact, my friends still had to iron their hair to get it super straight! And to think that was within the first 2 weeks of getting their hair rebonded!
They went back to H Salon to complain... but the only thing they were told was "Ganyan talaga e." Tsk TSK!

sa mga salons located malapit sa bahay namin (not filipino owned ha), they call hair rebonding "japanese system hair straightening." i asked yung isang filipino-owned salon, where i had my hair rebonded, if that's the same as hair rebonding, she said yes. kasi dun daw sa japan nagsimula yung hair rebonding na yan. (not sure if this is accurate ha.) yung mga products na ginagamit nya nga, galing pa raw japan.
thanks a!

nagpa-straight ako kanina sa freshaire sa festival, i paid 940 for my hair coz mejo mahaba sya. i had my hair straightened para ma-tame yung pagka buhaghag nya kasi mejo curly chever din ang hair ko. as of now naaasar ako kasi yung ilalim ng hair kulot, parang kinky. parang lumala pa yung state ng hair ko compared nung hindi pa ko nagpapastraight, though yung ibabaw nya is maganda naman. normal ba yun na kulot-kulot yung ilalim ng hair? kasi pag-uwi ko ng bahay sinuklay ko sya and after 10 years pa ko natapos, inde maayos ang pagkakasuklay dun sa salon. baka yun yung reason kung bakit ganun? anyway il try to call na lang bukas pag after ko maligo eh ganun pa din status ng hair ko. baka napa-paranoid lang ako coz the last time i had my hair treated was a nightmare!
