I've been using Tri-isys Unlimited for the last year, and while I am pretty happy with the service I am considering switiching to something significantly faster -- and freeing up a phone line.

Clearly the options are either cable internet or DSL. What are the pros and cons of each medium? Any specific recommendations for a QC resident?

So far, the new offers of Zpdee Cable (256kbps for P2,250/month) and Bayantel DSL (384kbps for P2.7k/month) have piqued my interest. Any feedback on either product?

sir madami good feedbacks ang bayantel, but you have to have a bayantel line of course, pag wala hassle pa ang installation.

same with globe, 384kbps din sila, but a little higher at 3k per month

Last time I checked Bayantel's site it's P3000 for 128kbps? Where did you get this info? And by the way, how much is Bayantel's monthly phone line fee excluding DSL?

cable is not exclusive, meaning you share the bandwidth with others. When others get to hog the connection, you are left with very low bandwidth

DSL - the whole bandwidth is dedicated to you, so the claimed data rates are almost always available to you

They recently cut the prices on Globe's DSL services. Instead of paying 3,000 a month for both the line and the DSL service, it's now 2,100 pesos a month for 384/192 kbps.

The one thing I dislike about Globe's DSL service is it's difficult to pinpoint whether you should be talking to Innove, Globelines or Globequest. It took me a while to finally get connected after they kept bouncing me around from one person to another. Heck, when I called the support number listed in my bill, the first girl I spoke with couldn't tell me why exactly my bill had gone down. I had to call again, and some guy referred me to a Globequest representative who could explain the price drop.

If anyone from Globe is reading this, I hope they can get things a little more organized.

audigy please try to make the distinction between kbps (kilobits per second) and KB/s (KiloBytes per second) a little clearer, people might start thinking that getting 30kbps (or about 3 to 3.75KB/s) is normal with DSL. ;)

I pay around PhP 800 for my regular landline and it's gonna be reduced to PhP 300 if I get DSL according to the salesman.

I don't know if I should mention this, I'm a destiny internet subscriber, they charge me Php 1,900 monthly for a 512+kbps connection. My download rates peak at 210kb/sec and uploads peak at 50kb/sec.

I'd be happy to show you screenshots of my downloads to prove to you I'm now lying.

n3ko, are ya really sure na nawawalan ng connection ang destiny pag gabi? Eh I've been using the internet like 9pm-7am without any problems. Maybe you're just experiencing some problems in your area ;)

Cool, I was considering getting Destiny for the longest time but I keep hearing about crappy service from people and PLDT doesn't want to give us DSL because we've been late in paying our phone bills lately and I don't want to be waiting around for us to re-establish a decent credit rating with them. Is Bayantel good? What about installation fees, modem rental, etc? Any promos?
