i'm a high school senior and i'm torn between two schools - up and ateneo. i got into applied physics (double major with applied computer systems) sa ateneo and economics in up.

i've always wanted to go to the ateneo but my mind's been playing with the thought of going to up. so yun, recently, it's become a serious thought na.

money's not a factor, my parents can afford it. they're willing to let me study in my school of choice. thing is, i can't make up my mind.

people say i'll fit in sa ateneo, but i really don't know. is college really about fitting into th env't of your school?

can you please give me your insights on both schools? both specific for the courses i got into and the schools themselves in general. it would really help me out in making a decision. if pwede objective comparative analysis na rin of the two.

thank you!

ateneo na lang. i mean, maganda kasi yung course na pinasahan mo sa ateneo at double major siya. i'm not saying pangit ang economics (at lalong wala akong sinasabing pangit ang up), baka mamaya i-quote nanaman ako ni bigfatratt

it's your own choice. :)

I think it's a matter of what degree to pursue, physics or economics? it would have been more difficult kung parehong econ o applied physics ang pinasahan mo on bothn schools (although in either case, you should really choose UPD since the National Institute of Physics is the best Physics school no doubt and the School of Economics is the sole Center of Excellence in Econ education)

so ask yourself if you want to pursue a career in science or in economics. magkaibang mundo kasi ito eh, obviously

Go where your interests truly lie. If it is Econ, then go to UP. If it is Applied physics, then go to Ateneo. That simple.

Otherwise, you can flip a coin.

you cant go wrong with either school

it all boils down to the course na mas gusto mo

Where do you see yourself after graduation?

Are you a physicist or an economist?

Its not a matter of passing or excelling in a course but seeing yourself doing "it" for the rest of your career..

If you believe that you will just establish a business (that does not require a background in economics; for argument's sake) then ask yourself which course will stimulate you mentally..

Do you prefer reading economics or physics journals?

Finally, No regrets... Stand firm with your decision..

thank you to all those who replied.

i've come to the a decision. i'll be going to ateneo. i considered all factors in making that decision.

now, does anyone know anything about the physics dept. of ateneo?

good luck in college. great choice by the way. i'm obviously biased. anyway, as long as you do your best, i'm sure you'll be able to make it.
