Nakkaawa talaga... especially his mom. I was moved when Ali Sotto said na nayayanig na yung pananampalataya niya and that she was holding on to athin thread na lang. She must really be devastated... PInakamasakit naman talaga for parents like her is the fact na mauuna pang mawawala yung anak mo kaysa sa'yo.

I don't know if I heard Dina Bonnevie's interview @ DZMM correctly, but she said mahilig daw talaga si Miko na magbiro na kunyari magpapatihulog sya. That could be one of his games that went out of hand. Ika nga, 'may nagtulak' na kung anong force sa kanya.

I was deeply moved at how even non-relatives like Bibeth Orteza (who's a close friend of the Sottos) was really crying hard at the funeral. I think I also saw Joey de Leon's daughter Jocas hugging Danica and she was crying harder than Miko's cousins. Ibig sabihin nito well-loved talaga si Miko.

I heard he was talking with Oyo Boy during that time.. so I guess it is traumatizing for him to see exactly the event. Nakakakilabot how fast a person's life can be. This is a really, really bad accident. I always see this guy on television. I think I even had a crush on him during his days on Click. AROUND 1 a.m. Monday, young star Angel Locsin got a goodnight call from her boyfriend, Miko Sotto.

"He was having some problems with his computer, so he asked Oyo Boy (Sotto, his cousin) and a friend to come to his condo unit to help him fix it," Angel said. "I told him to get some sleep. Before he hung up, he told me he loved me."


Those were the last words Miko told Angel, the grieving girl said. Just a few hours later, Miko was dead from a fall from his ninth floor condominium unit in Mandaluyong City.

Angel is hurting as much as Miko's family for she and Miko had been inseparable and were in fact together the day before the accident.

"He was very happy these past days," Angel told this writer in between sobs.

She and Miko had attended Mass together on Sunday upon Miko's urging. "I was lazy to go to church but Miko insisted that we go," she said.

Miko, she said, had very few friends but the few friends he had were solidly with him. And he also loved his mother, actress Ali Sotto, very much, she remembered.

"Lahat gagawin niya para sa mommy niya, para sa family niya (He would do everything for his mother, his family)," Angel added.

"People often found Miko aloof and with an attitude," said Miko's close friend, Biboy Ramirez. "Actually, he was a good guy. He wasn't show biz in the sense that kung 'di ka niya gusto, 'di ka niya gusto. Totoo siyang tao (if he didn't like you, then that was that. He was honest)."

Angel agreed with Biboy about Miko being "totoong tao at walang halong kaplastikan (he was a real person and wasn't hypocritical)."

Biboy also remembered Miko's last words to him: "'Ingat ka, baka malunod ka (Careful, you might drown)."

That was when they talked on the phone last Sunday. Biboy was in Batangas on an outing with other friends, and Miko had found it weird that his friend was going swimming in the cold December weather.

"He was his usual makulit (perky) self," Biboy said the next day, only hours after his friend died in the accident.

Miko and Biboy's friendship dated back to their days together on the popular GMA Network Saturday afternoon teen show "Click," where they were members of the first batch. They shared many secrets and many interests, including girls.

At the end of their very last phone conversation last Sunday, they agreed that Biboy would visit Miko in his condo unit the following day, Monday. Just a few hours after they talked, Miko fell to his death.

"Why is it that just when we were getting close to each other, he would go," cried Valerie Concepcion, Miko's co-star in the afternoon soap "Walang Hanggan" and in the movie, "Fantastic Man."

"I was with Miko and a group of friends last Saturday to watch our movie (Fantastic Man)," said Valerie. "I had no inkling it was to be our last time together."

Valerie will remember Miko for the way he looked at things. Despite his "mapang-asar" (teasing) nature, she said, Miko listened to her problems in all seriousness and gave her helpful advice.

"Utol (sibling)" was Tricia Roman and Miko's term of endearment for each other.

"Miko always had a ready shoulder to cry on," said Tricia. "He was like a big brother to me because I always ran to him whenever I had problems I felt I couldn't handle. Talking to him always made me feel better."

Miko was part of the GMA Artist Center until a month ago. After the Artist Center launch last September, Miko showed renewed enthusiasm in his career and even composed a rap number that he performed during the launch.

Noong una, naawa ako. Pero I started to understand kung bakit nangyari yun noong nalaman ko yung backgroung ng mga Sotto. Tis like "pambayad-utang" nila; a "curse" (or should I say, consequence or better yet, a punishment) that will always be there sa mga ginawa nila na hindi maganda sa ibang tao. Familiar with the case of Pepsi Paloma (one of softdrink beauties)? Nagpakamatay yung tao dahil naabswelto sila Vic, Val at Tito Sotto and yung iba pang kasama nya (Isa rin ata si Joey de Leon dun eh) sa rape (gang rape, to be exact) case nila. Nalaman ko lang ito last monday noong kinwento samin ng dad nung classmate ko noong highschool na naging matalik na kaibigan ni Pepsi Paloma noong nabubuhay pa sya.

Pls. don't get me wrong. Di ako galit sa Sotto o kung ano pa man... this only goes to show na lahat talaga ng bagay ay may katapat at panahon. WE were startled early yesterday morning by a phone call from a writer-friend who told us about the sad news that young actor Miko Sotto is dead.


Based on sketchy reports, TV host Ali Sotto’s 21-year-old son (by Maru Sotto, Sen. Tito and comedian Vic’s brother) was pronounced dead on arrival 4:50 a.m. at the Mandaluyong Medical Center, where cousin Oyo Boy and two non-showbiz friends rushed him after an accidental fall from the 9th floor of the San Francisco Gardens condo on Boni Ave.


From the Mandaluyong Medical Center, his family moved Miko to the Makati Medical Center around 6:20 a.m. with the hope that doctors there could still revive him, but to no avail.


"Unang Hirit" and "Emergency" host Arnold Clavio, who was among the first ones to inform Ali and second husband Omar of the unfortunate incident, said his radio partner (in the DZBB program `Double A sa Double B’) as ruled out foul play in her son’s death.


"Tumawag ako kay Ali bandang 5:45 a.m. Pero, si Omar ang nakasagot. Na-shock pa nga siya nang sabihin kong may masamang nangyari kay Miko.


"Obviously, hindi pa nila alam na patay na siya. The next time na tumawag ako, alam na nila. Naririnig ko na si Ali na umiiyak sa background habang kausap ko si Omar.


"Pati si Sen. Sotto tumawag sa akin para i-correct 'yung misconception na may foul play sa pagkamatay ni Miko. "Kasi may marks na nakita si Dr. George Cheng ng Mandaluyong Medical Center sa leeg ni Miko bukod pa sa lamat sa bungo at hiwa sa tenga.

Meanwhile, the actor’s girlfriend, Angel Locsin was said to be unconsolable at the hospital.

In an interview over DZMM's "Ms. M, Ms. O, Mismo" yesterday afternoon, Angel told Ogie Diaz, co-hosts Roselle Manahan and Fernan de Guzman that she and Miko still had a lot of dreams and that they were together the whole day of Sunday. Miko, she said, was very jolly and showed no premonition of death whatsoever that day.


She rushed to the hospital as soon as she received word about her boyfriend's death and for the last time, lovingly held his hand while his body was at the morgue.


"'Yun lang, hindi ko na nakayanan pang tignan siya," a devastated-sounding Angel told Ogie, Roselle and Fernan.


The last time we saw Angel and Miko together was at the thanksgiving party of OctoArts-M-Zet Films’ Metro Manila filmfest entry, quot;Fantastic Man," at Virgin Café Tomas Morato last Friday. They came along with Oyo Boy and Valerie Concepcion.


Miko and Angel were inseparable then and looked very much in love.


Miko, by the way, played Ara Mina’s younger brother in "Fantastic Man," topbilled by his uncle, Vic Sotto.


His cousin, Danica, meanwhile, was in Boracay when she heard of the actor’s untimely death.


"Nagmamakaawa nga si Danica sa ticketing office ng airline para makabalik na sa Maynila. Anak-anakan kasi ang turing niya kay Miko," Ogie reported in yesterday’s edition of ABS-CBN 2's "MUB."


The latest we heard is that Miko’s remains will be brought to the Santuario de San Antonio in Forbes Park, Makati City.


Interment has yet to be announced as we're told that his father, Maru, was still in Cebu as of yesterday morning.

For some reason, I don't want to use the word "karma" (buddhist belief of sort kasi pumapasok sa isip ko eh). Pero I believe in God and how he set these things... basta, kung ano man yun eh nangyari ang nakatakda at dapat talagang mangyari.

I think alot more people symphathizes with Miko's death than Blas Ople because of how young Miko was when he died. Sayang because he will never experience what most people experience - having to grow old with someone you love, having your own family, kids, grandkids... so many that Miko will never experience. Blas Ople on the other hand has lived a full wonderful life. He probably and most likely have gotten some of his dreams fulfilled... Miko has not kaya sayang na sayang.

Unlike Blas Ople, her is 81, and talagang looking at his achievement, he has done a lot. People would talk more about what is more tragic... another thing.. he's in the showbiz.. Blas is not. People are more interested in showbiz than politics. You guys know what I mean

Exactly - no one knows their future. Kaya in Miko's case - it was more shocking to hear of his death than that of Blas Ople because he died at a very young age. His looks has nothing to do with it. It's the fact that this poor kid died so young, sayang because the people he left would never see what future he could have had. People see him belonging to the Sotto family, may career going for him tapos ganito lang ang nangyari - Sayang because he could have had it all pero dahil sa very freaky accident, it has all ended. Again nothing to do with his looks - pangit or cute kung ganito ang nangyari sa isang batang who more than likely could have had a good future ay biglang namatay. Blas Ople on the other hand has lived a great life, he is in the history books of the Philippines - people mourn, but also appreciate the life he had. His death was not an accident although for someone like his to die outside his country is something I can say na SAYANG din. He was not able to die in his own country.
