Johann Escañan is a proud probinsyano who joined the search for the Star in a Million to honor the memory of his best friend, John. You see, John has been trying to coax him into joining the contest, but John passed away unexpectedly. That's a really sad tale. More sad than the story of Odaleah the Leukemia Girl, one of Johann's competitors during the eliminations on ASAP Mania. I've read some posts from a forum stating that Johann really lost it when his friend died. I guess anyone would, too. Johann would have wanted to dedicate his victory in SIAM to John, but unfortunately, he didn't win the title. But I would think John is very proud of Johann up there in heaven for all the things his friend has accomplished.

On a lighter note, the first song Johann learned was "Yesterday's Dream" when he was eight. He and everybody else. ^_^ Isn't that the song pre-school teachers force their students to sing? I remember when we did that in school, in these stupid costumes. But I digress...

In the Praning SIAM thread, there are A LOT of Johann fans. In percentage, it would be about 80 - 90 % of the people in there absolutely adore him. It's not as if I could blame them. There is a distinctive character in Johann. He may be reserved and shy, but it's still the talent which manages to win out.
