hi moonster,
my baby just turned one last month, he was previously taking nan ha1 kasi sensitive ang skin nya. he is now taking pediasure which was recommended by our pedia. im still observing if he likes it and no allergy popping out.
his pedia also recommend promil kid, enfagrow and nutren jr. but sabi kasi ng pedia namin, magiging chubby our baby sa pediasure, medyo mataas kasi sya compared sa normal filipino height but his weight is normail din. But i want him to be chubby ng konti super active, malikot kaya hindi chubby. Mahal nga lang yung pediasure pero okay lang as long as he is happy and will gain more weight.
Better ask your pedia for his recommendation sa milk.
By the way to other mommies out there, ilang ounces/bottle of milk na iintake ng babies nya when they turned one? medyo panic kasi ako pag hindi sya nakakarami ng milk intake, he super loves solid foods nowadays.
Thanks

my franco ,whos turning 1 yo next week, consumes 7-8oz of milk 3-4times a day. From breastmilk+nan1 HA, to nan2 HA, Im planning to change his formula already, ano kaya ok? Ok lang sakin kahat mahal basta magandang klaseng milk. Pero I dont think he needs Pediasure kasi ok naman weight nya and all. His pedia referred Progress lactofree. kaso ang hirap naman hanapin. wala kami makita malapit samin.
Kayo ba, ano milk ng baby nyo when they turned 1? does anybody still remember? yaw ko nido or lactum or something, parang kulang naman yun sa sustansya.
Ive had one but never got to really use it kasi dami ko ginagawa nun. Im selling it. so PM me if youre interested. thanks ;)

correction on my previous post, wala palang Progress Lactofree, my pedia prolly meant, Enfagrow lactofree. Yun nalang binili ko.

my son migs is 1 yr old & 7 months now. he's drinking Pediasure too (vanilla flavor). Manson drugstore's discount of 5% is a big savings. P 734 lang ang kuha ko. super active ang baby ko. he's curious of almost everything around him. he ask's a lot. he already counts & knows the parts of the body. sulit **** ang gatas nya kahit mahal.

My baby is taking Enfapro A+. Ngayong 1 year old na sya pedia recommended Enfagrow A+. Pero matigas kasi ang ulo ko at pina-try ko sya ng Lactum, (my cousins are taking Lactum and parang Ok naman sa kanila, so I tried it on my baby as well.
Kaya now I bought her Enfagrow Lactofree (just for her stomach problems na caused ng Lactum) and soon Enfagrow A+ na ang bibilhin ko.
Nagtataka lang ako Lactum and Enfagrow both from MeadJohnsons and pareho lang naman halos nutrition facts, pero bakit ganun, mas mura ang Lactum? :D

My baby girl is premature-baby so first formula milk niya is pre-nan, then my pedia suggested switching to neosure pero napansin ko na naging colic sya sa neosure. So switch uli sa NAN-HA1, then NAN HA2, then Enfapro. Now she's taking Engrow A+. I want to change her formula again kasi medyo mahina sya uminom ng milk (although super duper kulit!). I've asked my pedia and she said ok daw either pedia sure or gain advance. Mataas daw calories ng pedia sure so i decided ipa-try yung gain sa kanya. Ok ba yung gain? Any other suggestion?

^ If you're a Wyeth formula user, simply look at the bottom of the can and avoid manufacturing dates from May 23, 2006 to July 26, 2006. That is if you can still find cans with that manufacturing dates. Most of the formulas out today were manufactured Nov 2006 up to the present.
fyi.

doesn't gain have the highest nutritive value among all infant formulas? nagcompare ako sa grocery and i switched from enfalac to gain because of that. i'm shelling out 1350 every two weeks just to give my baby the best formula she could have.

my baby is turning 1, gusto n din sana namin sya ilipat ng gatas. she's taking NAN2... eh nag susunod ng nestle product is anchor and nido... parang ayaw ko naman nun... gusto ko sana progress gold kasi one of my officemate testify n maganda daw... natakot naman ako dahil s nangyari sa wyeth... hay di tuloy namin alam kung ano ang bibilhin...

with what happened sa wyeth, all you have to do is check the manufactured dates at the bottom of the can, although i HIGHLY DOUBT na meron ka pang mabibiling milk na manufactured on those dates. i'm a wyeth user too, and so far, everything is well.

depende sayo yun, and the best person to ask would be your pedia. i think she would likely recommend gain if your baby is a little underweight or isn't gaining much weight. :)

both my daughter and son used s26 until 6 months.
daughter (5 year old na ngayon) - s26, gain, enfagrow, enfakid, nido then lactum na ngayon --> combined iyong vanilla and chocolate flavor.
son (1 year and 2 mos) - s26, promil and promil kid.
gain - nakakatalino (daw) but super likot ang kids (as with my daughter and nephew).
Oh JESUS kaya pala I had been giving my baby s26 gold since she was born kasi recommended ng pedia nya until now she's almost 6 mos old. KAYA pala prang lagi syang may plema. And I couldnt understand where that pesty phlegm is coming from grrr.... that's why they say mommies have the best knowledge when it comes to child care imagine (for 6 mos!!!! ngayon ko lang narinig na the formula might be the culprit) Tsk tsk

my daughter's 6 years old now... enfakid a+ chocolate flavor ang tini-take nya... kaya lang ang hirap hanapin nito... kapag vanilla flavor naman hindi nya masyado type... iniisip ko tuloy palitan na lang ng iba, may alam ba kayong ibang milk na chocolate flavor pero ok naman ang nutritional value? hindi naman din kasi sya tumataba dito, ewan ko siguro talagang ganyan lang sya kasi malakas din naman sya kumain bukod sa pagti-take ng gatas...

*** baby ko naman e breastmilk until now pero nung 1st 6months niya 1/4 is s26 gold
6-10months breastmilk + Nan 2
10months- until now (1 yr & 2months) is breastmilk + Nan 3

do a self inspection. kapain mo batok, ilalim ng baba and kilikili ni baby, if may lumps ka nakapa, pa check up ka, ask for a chest xray to be done and if pwede pa culture mo yung plema. warning signs ng primary complex yan.

Our baby is on Nutramigen and it's been out-of-stock for three weeks now. He doesn't want to drink other formulas kaya he already lost 1 kilo. mead johnson is of no help, one person lang sa customer service hotline nila and wala naman valuable info to give. paging owners of pharmacies, baka you have stocks pa of nutramigen please send me a message. thanks!

hey sis tenton, my baby is on Nutramigen also (since birth). It's out of stock talaga. We were able to buy 13 cans 2 months ago, I think, in Mercury, Tagaytay pa. We only have 2 cans left. We tried switching to NanHA2 since it's also hypoallergenic. But she doesn't want to drink it. We tried mixing 1oz of NanHa2 and 3 ozs Nutramigen, she drank it but she threw up after an hour. almost 5x yata syang nagvomit that day. I don't know if it's because we mixed NanHA2 with Nutramigen or because of NanHa2 (her tummy can't digest it pa rin). We also tried Promil Lactose Free and Enfapro Lactose Free before, but ayaw din nya. We're really worried when she runs out of Nutramigen.

any feedback on Enfapro A+? magpapalit na kasi ng milk si baby dahil 6 months na, yun ang nirecommend ng pedia . Infant formula niya is Similac. Ano ba mas ok, GAIN PLUS or ENFAPRO A+? Baka kasi manibago ng lasa si baby. Kasi GAIN PLUS and SIMILAC gawa ng same company baka mas malapit ang lasa. Thanks!

hello Shiri, i hope magka-supply na ng nutramigen soon. we've been asking relatives abroad to buy nutramigen for us pero sa UK may two types kaya hindi malaman which one to buy. sa US ang brand name nya is Nutramigen Lipil, we've already tried it and nagustuhan naman nya. very costly nga lang pagbili and shipping cost pa. take advantage of your relatives visiting for the holidays. :)
another local alternative we tried is Alfare from Nestle. so far hindi sya nag-vomit. if he doesn't have any reactions this week we'll shift him to Alfare. btw, does your baby have GERD?
Shiri
Nov 16, 2007, 11:37 AM
same taste din ba sya ng nutramigen dito? how much is it in the us? in UK, they have nutramigen 2 yata which is for older babies yata. i wanna try that sana for our baby, she's 11 months old, we have relatives in London but I know it's gonna cost a lot.
magkalasa lang ba ang Alfare and Nutramigen? Gusto nya kasi kalasa talaga ng Nutramigen. She's on Isomil now, no vomiting and rashes but she doesn't like the taste. We had to use a dropper para makainom sya ng milk but super kawawa kasi iiyak sya lalo. She's losing weight coz wala talaga sya naiinom na milk and she's so matamlay na.
she doesn't have GERD. she's allergic to cow's protein.

same taste din ng nutramigen dito. it's $28-30 depends on which state ka kukuha. tinitipid talaga namin. he's already 1 kaya we feed him solids during the day then pag matutulog na mag milk. ubos na nutramigen namin and so far ok naman Alfare. medyo iba din ang taste ng alfare, distinct kasi yun sa nutramigen eh.
he has GERD kaya he needs milk until he's 4 according to his pedia-gastro. sana magka-stock na ng nutramigen.....

for my first baby, frisolac milk nya, ok naman mataba at very active, ngayon 3 yrs old na sya, frisogrow na, nagtry ako ng lactum at nido pero ayaw nya ng lasa. ngayon sa 2nd baby ko, which is 3 months na, bonna ang milk nya. mas mataba sya compared sa first baby ko. pero sabe nila nakakataba daw talaga ang bonna kaya *** kulang sa nutritional value compared sa mamahaling gatas.

my son will turn 2 years two weeks from now, his pedia allow us to change the flavor of his formula from Pediasure Vanilla to Pediasure Chocolate flavor. Nag suggest din siya if we want to try Nutren Junior. I tried it ( Nutren Junior ) once, and i think he likes the taste (atleast bago sa lasa ng anak ko). Nakaktuwa kasi yung 400grams na Nutren Junior nauubos niya for 3 days lang hinahaluan ko pa ng Cerelac Rice and Wheat yun ha.
Any feedback from Nutren Junior mommies?

my baby was breastfed for 2 months til nagkamastitis ako and ang sakit kasi magpabreastfeed tipong nagchichip off na skin sa teats ko ... then our pedia prescribed s26 kaso nagkakaallergy baby ko, so nag nan ha1 kasi lang ayaw nya lasa di nya inuubos, so we changed to isomil kasi ang baho ng poopoo nya and lage umuutot kaya we changed again to enfapro tapos nung wala kaming budget nag bonamil na baby ko, kaso lang sabi ng husband ko baka kulang nutrients , tsaka ang payat kasi ng baby ko kasi malikot so nilipat namin sa gain kaso sobrang nagtatae baby ko as in every feeding , so binalik ko sa bonamil kasi gusto nya taste ng bonamil pero ayaw padin ng husband ko kasi since cheap baka kulang nutrients so ***** promil gold 2 na milk ng baby ko, siguro pag 1 yr na sha lipat ko ng progress gold... di na kasi ako nagtatanung sa pedia kung okay yung milk eh basta i change it nalang then inform ko pedia ko when my baby has his vaccinations

hi mulberry, my daughter's pedia recommended similac before then nag-isomil sya nung mag2 months (forgot the reason, if not allergies baka sa poop). i remember before 6 months nag-enfalac na kami kse bukod sa mahal ang milk ayaw rin namin sya masanay sa soy based milk. ok naman sya, hindi nga lang sa A+ kse constipated si baby dun. regular enfa series lang, tapos ngayon kakatapos lang nya sa enfapro, 1 na sya today. we're still choosing milk. i bought a box of nido just to test kung ok sa kanya, if not baka tuloy na namin sa enfagrow.

my ob recommends NAN HA1
I use S-26 for my 2 1/2 months but she recently she always poopoo, (3-4 times a day) and always constipated. Her pedia recommended NAN HA 1 but because I don't patronize NEstle products is there any recommendation. I want try to Similac.

my baby who is 1 week old is taking enfalac a+, grabe ang hirap humanap ng bigger can laging *** pinakamaliit ang available. everwhere we went wala talagang malaki. bakit ganun?
Yep, it is difficult to find enfa A+ esp the bigger can (950g) not until last Friday, we found so many stocks at SM (Sta Rosa) & with different packaging na sya…So we bought na 2 cans which is good for 2 weeks..
Kea lang parang me nabago...dumalas mag-poop bebe ko..why kaya?

im a first time mom with twins. hindi ko sila kaya i breastfeed ng 100% kaya nag formula milk din ako. enfalac a+ okay naman sa dalawang baby ko. tanong ko lang po kung okay lang na gamitin pantimpla ng gatas nila yung wilkins? o distilled o mineral water? please reply. thanks.

it's better if you use distilled water, not mineral water.
if i remember it correctly, dr.brown is distilled water (sencia na, once or twice lang me nakagamit nyan eh, BF kse si baby before).

Once your baby is about one month old, he may start having fewer bowel movements. Formula-fed babies poops slow down at about a month as well. However, formula is more likely to cause constipation than breast milk. Most formula fed babies will have about one bowel movement a day If your baby goes longer than two or three days without a bowel movement and he is formula fed, you should give your pediatrician a call.

hi mga mommies,, sharing lang
i gave birth to my baby ianne C-section, the hospital or rather the pedia who checked on my baby sa hosp gave her s-26 gold..kaso napansin namin na right after sya magdede, nagpu-pupu agad sya,, tapos parang may kumukulo sa tyan nya,, so we went to her pedia to consult, she ask me if i breastfeeding, sabi ko after the fourth day i gave birth..sabi nya it could be because of the breastfeeding daw.. baka daw kung ano-ano kinakain ko,, so we continued using s-26 gold, i also changed my diet.. kaso ganun pa din,, and the worst naging mabaho yun pupu nya, tapos lagi syang nag-iiri tsaka sumisigaw pag nagpupupu,, so we transferred her to another pedia (yung naging pedia ko when i was little, so talagang kilala nya ako and my mom) she changed my baby's milk with enfalac a+ so ngayun okei naman na sya,, she's 1 month, 5 days now and she poops 3 times a day...tingin ko naman di naman yun prob...the only prob i think is she's laging gising and super hyper,, kasi with s-26 lagi naman sya tulog and when she's awake she's quiet naman,,

My son is now 1 1/2, his pedia gave him Nan1 pero we noticed na ang tigas ng pupu niya at palaging constipated. so she recommended enfalac A+ since then ok na pupu niya, hnd ko na pinalitan ng ibang milk ang son ko sinundan ko na lang ang mga stages ng enfa milk yun nga lang madalas pahirapan hanapin. na sisira kc tummy niya pg hnd A+, *** nga ngayon b4 ako bumili ng new packaging nila ng enfargow I made sure na same siya / the A+. one more thing I noticed na hnd sakitin ang mga baby ** sa neighborhood namin na enfa milk ang gatas.

oki nga ang enfa milk. now my baby is taking enfapro A. and hindi sya sakitin...i dunno if its from the milk..pero may factor din siguro un...
downside nga lang ng enfa is medyo pricey..*** 950gram can na worth 765 eh wala pang 1 week ubos na..
pero im happy nga kaze hindi sya nagkakasakit and very healthy sya

Hi! my son is only 10 months old but i would to like to know if I can give him milk for 1 yr.old babies (eg. nido, lactum, promil, which is much cheaper). Aside from solid food, ang lakas nyang uminom ng milk. he can consume 1 big can for only 4days. Our budget is really tight as of the moment. Any suggestion on more affordable but good milk in the market?

Nov 26, 2008, 04:30 PM
avelinkr, I understand your situation. Mahal talaga ang gatas and when my 3 year old was a baby, he could consume a big can of milk so fast, hindi umaabot ng 1 week like I "estimate".
My personal stand though was bahala na hindi ako makakain, hindi lang makaranas gutom ang anak ko. It sounds exaggerated, I know, hindi pa naman kami nagka situation na kelangan magsacrifice ang tyan namin :) But I know how heavy formula can be on the budget.
Maybe you can cut down on something else? There must be some way you can penny pinch. Your weekly grocery budget, for example... baka pwede yan ma cut down ng konti. Sa formula din ni baby, maybe you can change to a lesser priced brand na angkop sa edad nya. While the higher priced milk mayhave an edge on all those things they advertise about, a lot of it is just marketing hype. You can ask your pedia for recommendations.
MammaMia!
Nov 26, 2008, 05:24 PM
You can ask your pedia for brand recommendation or what my MIL do she would make chikka with my pedia's secretary and ask the secretary if she knew an agent selling this brand of milk who could give you a big discount.
With my first born luckily SIL is working with Mead Johnson she was able to give us at least 30% discount on milk and vitamins however its a first come first serve basis and all in cash.

MammaMia!
Nov 27, 2008, 09:40 AM
/\ thats right! actually sabi ng pedia ko yung first stage milk up to 1 year pare parehas lang yan. Because of branding kaya syempre kailangan ng stages. Kaya some pedia recommends yung milk not too sweet. Nung humina si baby sa milk because of teething pwede na daw kami mag fresh milk for baby un nga lang medyo hindi type ni baby yung lasa ng fresh milk. :)

Ang akin lang naman, as long as di nagta-t*e ang baby sa milk (or di matigas ang pupu), okay. Try mo Bonamil/Bonakid, Alactamil, Nido1+ or Bear Brand 1+.

Nung first 6 months ng baby ko, his milk was Enfalac A+ which was recommended ng OB namin. Kaso tumitigas yung pupu ni baby and umiiyak siya dahil masyadong matigas and hindi nya kayang ilabas. Then we switched to different formulas from Isomil ( masyado namang nagtubig *** pupu) to Enfalac Lactose Free to S26. Naging hiyang siya sa S26. From 6 months, we switched to Promil. From 1 year old, Nido Jr. naman. 2 months later, Gain Advance na.

If you're looking for an affordable milk, Bonna is the cheapest milk in the market as far as I know.

When I weaned Yuri off breastmilk, he was on Enfapro till he turned 1 year and it was ouchie on the pocket because towards the last 3 months, Yuri was consuming five 8ounce bottles a day. Hubs kept *****ing at how Yuri goes through a P1300++ can of milk each week.
We tried Lactum when he turned 1 but he got diarrhea and his poop became green so we stopped it. His pedia recommended Nido Jr and hiyang naman siya dun and he likes it. My mom is aghast that we switched to the "cheap" milk and has been *****ing ever since to switch to Enfagrow. I don't see any problem with Nido Jr naman. I don't know why my mom's so adamant against it when laking Nido kaming siblings ko.
Pero I want to switch him to freshmilk. :)

Hello Everybody....
Selj here...
New member pa ako dito sa PINOY EXCHANGE...
I have a 1 daughter turning 1 year this coming Dec. 29 this year...
At sa gatas na tini take nya.. Shes been drinking Whyth milk since birth.
0-6mos s26,gold
6-upto now promil gold
by this time since turning 1 year na siya and then since ubos na milk nya, i proceed to
progress gold.
She has good Apetite also..
most of the time, after she eat or drink her formula milk, hihingi pa siya sa akin ng milk.
Mix kasi siya.
Breastfeed at yung sinasabi kong milk.
But i want more for her talaga.
I want to shift to another milk.
PS.I am a cebuana and i currently live in Cebu City...
I want to keep in touch to all of you... And I want to be your friend...

mga two weeks lang nag s26 na lactose Xan ko kse fear ko nga baka masanay sya sa lactose free paglaki nya so i shifted him back to regular s26. so far ok naman sya and gaining wait real ok. parang gusto ko nga hanapan sya ng cheaper milk eh hehehe. Is Bonna, Nestogen, Bonamil any good?
hello
in your case naman if ok yung mga milk na namention mo...
well, as i have observed here, depende sa bata... marami akong na encounter na moms na bona at nestogen at ang taba taba ng baby nila. kakainggit nga... gusto ko nga sana palitan pero wala lang kasing lutein ang mga gatas na yun....
anyway.... sobrang likot naman kasi na baby kong to.
kaya siguro hindi tataba. Isa pa di rin ako mataba.
till next msg.

hi mga mommies,,,
just want to ask if you could share anything...
my daugther ianne's 1st milk is s26 gold. then we switched to enfa a+ kasi nagkukulo kulo yun tiyan nya. kaso after 2weeks lang umayaw na siya sa enfa a+ so we switched back to s26 gold. that was like 2mnths ago.
***** last dec. 23 nagkaLBM siya. after 3days naging watery na so we went to her pedia for check up. her pedia prescribed pedialyte and a powder (i forget the name ) to be mixed in her milk.she change her milk to enfa lactose free...kaso 7days na hinde pa din umaayos ang pupu though hinde masydo watery. plus hinde siya masyado nagdododo. maybe she doesnt like the taste. so my mom suggested use bonna. so now okey na yun pupu niya kaso kumukulo pa din yun tiyan niya.
i want to try NAN naman sana kaso im not sure kung magugustuhan niya baka ganun din. s26 lang talaga ang gusto niya. kaso kumukulo yun tiyan niya.ano gagawin ko???

ask ko lang kung 1:1 rin ba ang promil gold? kasi my baby's previous milk was enfapro a+ kaso lang humina sya dumede kaya i switched her to promil gold kaso i read on its feeding instructions is that 60ml=1 scoop of promil gold. eh *** 60ml di ba equals 2 fl oz? nung enfapro a+ sya ang ginagawa ko was 1 fl oz=1 scoop. kaya nalilito ako sa promil.

I only breastfed my daughter for less than a month. Not enough milk supply. As per hospital's reco we gave her NAN HW. Eto ang napansin namin when we took her from NICU 1 week after:
1. kumukulo ang tiyan at utot ng utot while I'm feeding her
2. spit up (one time halos sinuka lahat yung dinede)
3. fussy
4. gassy
5. tame (di namin sure baka may nararamdaman)
6. *mahina dumede (tinutulak yung nipple, just opens her mouth pag pinilit namin paubos, kakagatin ang tsupon, grimace, worst susubukan nyang sumuka)
*less than 1 month palang ** when these happened.
lately, we switched formula as per her pedia's reco. we are currently giving her S26 gold. heto naman ang napansin namin:
1. gusto nya ang lasa. nauubos yung 100ml.
2. parang alert, hyper, iritable na hindi namin maintindihan. ang hirap patulugin. so, we swaddle her.
3. hindi regular ang BM
notorious ata sa constipation ang S26.
4. bubbly
btw, my daughter is petite. she weighed 5.2 lbs when i gave birth to her. 2 months na ** sa 5th.
i would like to try enfalac a+. any feedbacks about this formula? ty

@ metikulosa317
as per my baby's pedia, enfalac daw is maganda kasi madali matunaw sa tsan and nutrition wise, mas maganda daw ang enfa A+..

@Chrissh:
better consult talaga with your pedia before giving anything to your baby,,hirap na diba?
when my baby use to have kabag like your baby especially evening and madaling araw, manzanilla(?) yung partner ko,,hehehe... like at night, before sleep, lagay ako konti sa tummy, head, feet niya..and before mag milk sa gabi, lagyan ko din sya..may nabasa din me na thread (KABAG) na yung manzanilla helps para makatulog si baby..but make sure na hindi siya magka-allergy ha..baby ko kasi ok sa kanya yun eh..kawawa talaga baby lalo na pag-iyak,,parang gusto mo na rin umiyak..good luck!

Mommies, do/did you have any issues with Gain?
Wolf was drinking gain plus for almost 2 months now, then last week nagdiarrhea siya with no fever naman. so I switched him to enfagrow lactose free.
one of my goddaughter experienced the exact same thing with Gain.
I still have half a can that I'm thinking of submitting to BFAD for review.

First - Mylac, Promil / Enfapro Lactofree, Neslac with Honey, Fresh Milk
Second - Enfalac A+, Enfapro / Lactum, Neslac with Honey, Fresh Milk
Third - Enfalac A+, Enfapro A

My son who'll be turning 3 in a couple of months started taking pediasure around the latter part of the previous year upon his pedia's recommendation kasi nagkasakit siya and for some reason, hindi na makasundo ng system niya yung Alfare which he had been taking since he was 6 months old. It really took a toll on his weight.
Not too long after he started drinking pediasure, nabawi niya agad yung weight that he lost and then some. It was very effective, too much in fact, kasi soon my son started to tip over the ideal weight for his age so his pedia recommended we change brands na.
It was very difficult at first kasi he already took a liking to pediasure's taste. We tried Nido and Lactum pero hindi niya talaga nagustuhan. Then we tried Promil Kid, which he immediately accepted naman. It's been his main milk since February. His weight is just right now for his age and he is very healthy naman, which is the most important thing.

If there are any moms out there whose babies are still drinking Alfare, you might be interested in buying my remaining stock. I still have four unopened cans that I'm selling for only P950 each. Expiry date for all four is February 2010.
It's very expensive but since it easily runs out sometimes in the local drugstores, we used to buy several cans at a time. Unfortunately, when my son got sick last year, we couldn't let him finish our remaining stock because for some reason, my son's system couldn't digest alfare anymore.
For those interested, you can send me a pm and I'll reply as soon as I can.

I had my first baby last feb 2009, she is turning 6 months by next week and I need to change her milk (from 0-6 mos. to 6-12 mos.). She is using NAN right now, do i have the prerogative to choose any brand of milk for her? or do i have to consult her pedia?
one more thing po pala...what is your recommended brand of milk? is Gain the best for follow-up milk?
Need your advice mommies. Please? THank you po.

Done a quick browsing about what you said and yeah, you're right. Then that's the reason why our 2-yr old daughter is gaining weight too fast. I wonder why our pedia didn't stop us from using it even though our daughter has a normal weight before. Now, she's overweight and still consuming 7-900g cans a month. Sigh! Anyway, thanks to you.

I posted this in our ygroups and hope it helps some of you
=======================
I understand formula is hiyangan din with kids. And am not really sure but I am assumming that those who tout their products as containing extras (taurine, ARA, DHA and everything else) are more expensive.
I just want to remind parents of the facts:
1) these additives are taken from algae and fungi
2) these additives are only added in minute amounts to formula
3) these milk companies cannot vouch for these additives' bioavailability for human babies
4) there are no existing studies yet that prove that these additives in formula really benefit children
A child 1 year of age and onwards can be given ordinary/regular cow's milk already... this is according to the American Pediatrics Association.
But if the child's eating habits for solids is not yet that established, parents may feel, or the child's pediatrician may feel that formula is needed, or would be helpful. That is your decision to make. And such is our culture that we are indoctrinated that we NEED milk and that babies have to be PLUMP. I am only hoping that you won't base
your decisions on the excellent marketing strategies of advertisers and milk companies that are often misleading. Studies have consistently shown that formula milk compositions do not really greatly vary (and aren't even distinctly different from regular milk), it's just that milk companies have this market segmentation sa milk products (which is why Nido is more expensive than Bear
Brand, both from Nestle, when basically it's the same milk and they cannot make naman a sub-standard milk in terms of nutritional content... but they can add more sugar, salt, fats etc in others).
Am not saying don't buy the expensive ones... if you can afford it and it's hiyang with your child. Go! I am saying don't buy into the myth that more expensive formula is necessarily better :)
Think about it...

Yung mga formula milk puro soy-based yan.
Yung rgbh hormones eh banned sa japan, new zealand, australia at european union.

my son had black poop until 6 months because he's taking iron...after that normal na yung color...better ask your pedia why black poop if your baby is not into iron supplement...

in response to latundan's post,
there is a nutritional formula for children that is not soy based. one of them is nutren junior from nestle. its protein sources are 50% whey and 50% casein. it is indicated to children aged 1-10 years old.
hope this helps

hi! for the mommies who's feeding their babies NAN HW One, talaga po bang nakakaconstipate ***? Enfalac A plus po ang dating gatas nya and we never encountered this problem with it but when he developed rashes to his face down to his neck, his pedia suggested i changed his soap, shampoo, lotion, as well as his milk since we're not really sure what the allergen was up until now hindi ako certain kung milk nya nga ba nagcause ng mga rashes nya. Naaawa kse ako sa baby ko hirap talaga ***, do you guys think I should change his formula again? thanks

Good days mga mommies! What's the best milk for baby if hes always constipated? My baby is always constipated.. his pedia changed his milk from promil kid to enfragrow A+ but he is still constipated and he does not want to drink milk at all... He is only 1 yr and 7 months and its really very alarming because i think he is too young to stop the milk. He is not eating much too.
Pls give me some advise.. thanks!

I think Gain is better if you're going to compare the nutritional contents at the back of the can. I asked her pedia during my baby's monthly checkup today, she suggested Enfapro A+ kasi complete nutrients na daw and me DHA. I asked her kasi na best formula milk na madaming nutrients.

Your son is over 12 months,he should be eating a normal diet.
Subukan mong pakainin ng fruits like papaya, pears and prunes
My 10 y.o. has ongoing problem with constipation, sabi ng pedia, milk doesnt help sa constipation maliban na lang kung lactose intolerance sya.

Hi! Nido Jr. is good. my daughter has been switch from S26 gold to nido and ok naman siya. she gained weight and seldom gets sick. of course, we still let her eat 3 square meals, kahit pilitan pa..

Try adjusting the water to milk ratio a little. Maybe that will help.

yup!

Give your child fresh fruit juice instead kaya? Make him drink more as well (water)... and offer food in small portions 6-8 times a day instead of pushing meals his way...
You may want to read this: keeping children on a healthy diet (http://www.betterparenting.com/child-nutrition-keeping-kids-on-a-healthy-diet/)... offer more fiber, more vegetables, more fruits... mangoes are cheap and many this time of the year, feed him this (effective sa constipation, haha), corn kernels, squash...

Hi ellapotjing. pacensiya na ha, di ako mommy, daddy ako but i just want to help on your query. halos wala masyadong difference sa s26 gold and *** pink. I know this kasi formula to ng anak ko from 1 month to 1 year (ninecommend ng pedia ituloy namin kasi hiyang siya dito na). mas mahal ng 300 or 400 pesos yata ang gold.pero both are okay. di naging sakitin baby namin and ang bilis ng development. at 2 months, nag rerespond na sa amin.=) when my daughter turned 1, we tried nido jr. ok din and sobrang nakaluwag kami dahil mas mura na..hahaha! hope this can help you.:)

Nido is good but Enfagrow is better, just try it again and if your baby refuses again, then it is better to give him the former instead of starving him.*okay*

Give fresh fruit juices and lots of snacks. Try giving your child yogurt or those yogurt or lactobacili drinks like (nestle yogurt drink, yakult, chamyto bear brand probiotic) as it does help with digestion.
Now is the time to buy lots of fresh fruits especially dalandan and mangos (super cheap sa market). Since your child is over 1, you can sweeten it with honey.
I myself use Nido Jr for my boys and they're both really healthy. (but it's really more to save on milk because they both consume anywhere between 6-8, 8 oz bottles of milk a day aside from their main meals, juices and snacks).
And try giving some daily multivitamins. Sabi sa kin, Clusivol for kids is an excellent pampagana. So I give it to them and it looks like it's working.

My son is eight months now, he's mixed feed till five mos., based on our experience ok and S26 Gold, yun milk nya till six mos and now we're on Promil Gold. Maganda ang bowel movement nya with this milk and very active baby namin.
But i still believe, formula milk is still hiyangan. It doesn't mean mas mahal mas maganda. Try to observe kung ok si baby sa milk, then go for it.

Hi mga sis! For those giving Isomil to their babies because of cow's milk allergy - how long did you have to wait til the rashes were completely gone?
I have 9-week old boy & girl twins and they both developed rashes on their faces a few days after we started mix feeding. They started with Frisolac for their formula milk. On their last check-up, our pedia advised us to switch to Isomil. It's been almost a week, but they still have the rashes on their faces and necks. Nakakaawa eh. So I want to know when they will improve. Or if the soy milk is effective for them. If not, we would have to resort to goat's milk, which I heard is more expensive.
Any feedback from the group?
TIA!
