Biglang nagsigawan ang mga nanood sa TV nang ipakita ang kamay niyang gumuguhit ng larawan ni Kristine Hermosa. Lalong lumakas ang sigawan nangi-close-up na ang kanyang mukha. Totoong napakaguwapo nga ni Diether sa kanyang bagong hairstyle.

"Pinaghandaan ko po talaga iyon," ani Diether nang ating makausap. "Sana lang, hindi magalit sa akin ang mga tagahanga ni Jericho (Rosales). Pero, inihahanda ko na rin ang sarili ko sakaling magkakaroon ng intriga. Hindi talaga maiiwasan."

Makakatulong sa teleserye ang kanyang participation, lalo't balitang hindi nga umangat-angat ang rating nito. Pabalik-balik na lang kasi ang sari-saring problema nina Kristine at Jericho at nagsasawa na ang mga manonoo.

"I was also bothered nang malaman kong mawawala na ang 'Buttercup" namin. ganoon ako kapag nawawala ang isang bagay, lalo't may kinalaman sa trabaho," ani ni Diether. "Ako pa naman ibinibigay ko ang lahat sa bawa't role na gampanan ko."

i am one of the fans who never expected that "bagay nga sila". paano yan echo??? ang bilis mo lang palang hanapan ng counter part sa loveteam nyo ni tin! sabi na sayo very wrong move talaga ang decision mo na ipagpalit si tin kay cindy eh!!!

diet - basta wag ka lang maging over confident and keep your "humor style" and wag oa tulad ng role mo sa last teleserye mo, babagay ka kay sa character ni tin.

echo - better make sure that you and angelica's loveteam will work too, otherwise.....

marvin and kaye - OK talaga chemistry nyo! ang galing, drama and comedy, you're really a good pair!

i think the kilig factor has gone with echo, i guess when were watching it we all know how he broke tins heart and all the guestings they have together, he is soooo fake, i would have never thought of the diet and tin loveteam but i think its absolute genious, and hopefully echo will regret loosing tin, for his sake esp for his career. actually he is now being handled by Classified media, a talent management group of Deo edrinal who is also the manager of Kris, Troy and C.Agassi. Deo , aside from being a talent manager is also a executive producer, creative consultant and senior vp for variety & talk show ng ABS. Kung bakit di na Talent center ang naghahandle sa kanya I dont know why. Maybe its a age thing kasi Talent center di ba age 7 to 27 ang talents eh si Diet 27 na di ba ? But then C. Agassi is only 23 and dating talent center ngayon eh Classifiied media talent na rin. Not much difference naman kasi Classified media has many insiders daw of Abs working for it kaya halos pareho lang if you are a actor under talent center or classified media

Hi Wonder_Chaser...ang tutuo naiyak sa tuwa yung kasama namin. This girl is actually a big fan of Echo and Piolo. Good Friday yun and while we were waiting in the lobby, si Diet ang unang bumaba. Actually bago siya bumaba sa lobby, sumilip siya from the third floor so nakita namin siya agad. Pagkakita sa kanya, napaiyak siya sa tuwa and talaga naman na Diet was so friendly and accomodating to everyone. We all appreciated what he did kaya kaming lahat naging instant fan ni Diet.
I will try to take pics of Diet when he comes to New York in December to share them with you guys.

Wow me thread na si Diet- hi mga diet fans!!! I have to say that he is my favorite. I find him to be a very sweet, and thoughtful guy, the perfect gentleman. He is a genuine person, hindi siya plastic. Some say suplado siya but you know guys he doesn't try to hog the spotlight kasi, tahimik lang siya, and some people interpret that as being suplado. Also must give him high marks on his grooming and cleanliness. He always smells so good, as in grabe, like he just stepped out of the shower. Not to mention he is so good looking in person, much better than on TV, meron siyang presence just like Piolo. Actually everytime I see him lalo siyang gumagwapo, sobra talaga!!!!!

SHOW BIZ heartthrob Diether Ocampo doesn't mind being called "stingy," when he refuses to buy signature brands. The actor is considered one of the best-dressed young stars in tinseltown. Yet, surprisingly, Diether doesn't go for expensive attire. "I'll wear anything that's nice and comfy, as long as they look good on me," he tells Inquirer in an interview at his bachelor's pad in San Juan. "I don't have to wear an Armani all the time just because it's a signature brand. I also don't want to waste my money on brand names."

In the US, he goes to the outlet stores for bargain buys. In Hong Kong, he can even get a decent wardrobe from the night market. Celebrity endorser A much sought-after celebrity endorser, Diether relies on his sponsors like Bench, Country Classic Shoes and Adidas to dress him up. Killer Loop even provides him with those hip shades. "I go for smart-casual clothes," Diether says. "I like wearing jeans and shirts when I go out of the house, especially if there are no formal events to go to. I go for plain black or white. That's a lot easier to match so I don't take up too much time trying to figure out what to wear."

The young actor is noted for his fashion sense. Yet, he claims he is on his own when it comes to dressing up. For formal wear, he goes to designers Randy Ortiz and Paul Cabral (Filipino designers). In his pad, Diether keeps a separate room for his clothes. He has two racks full of jackets, long-sleeve shirts and other casual attire, which he can no longer accommodate in his closet. Neatly arranged on the floor are his more than 50 pairs of shoes. He goes for Italian brands, most of which are supplied by Country Classic. Pairs of rollerblades and ice skates are gathering dust in one corner. "Before I could still use them," Diether rues. "But now, I hardly have time to go roller-blading or ice skating." Because of his perennially busy schedule, Diether complains he doesn't even have free time for himself. He plays basketball and goes swimming.

He also dabbles in photography and used to take up classical guitar lessons at the Yamaha School of Music. But all those activities have taken a backseat to his steadily rising show biz career.

The biggest trade-off of his career, however, is his education. Diether was a second year physical therapy student at De La Salle University in Dasmarinas, Cavite, when he was bitten by the show biz bug. Physical therapy He says it was his grandmother, who urged him to take up physical therapy. After all, he comes from a family of doctors. His last name is Pascual. It was ABS-CBN Talent Center director Johnny Manahan, who advised him to use Ocampo, his mom's maiden name. "I regret that I wasn't able to finish college when I entered show biz," says Diether. "But an opportunity like this comes only once." The eldest child in a brood of three, Diether describes himself as a reluctant actor. He never imagined himself acting before the cameras.
When he was in college, he got interested in music. He formed a garage band with his campus friends and played alternative rock. But it took acting workshops with Peque Gallaga (film director) to hone Diether's talent, before he became an actor. Today, after four years in show biz, Diether, who's turning 24 in July, is happy about the way his career is turning out. "Everything I planned to achieve, I was able to do in less than five years, which was the original timetable," he says. He credits director Johnny Manahan and ABS-CBN for his flourishing career. He has also been handled by resident ABS-CBN directors "They were the ones who motivated me to take up acting seriously," Diether says. Comfortable lifestyle His show biz earnings are apparently more than enough for him to maintain a comfortable lifestyle and provide a better life for his family.

To date, he has purchased a townhouse for his mom, who moved from Cavite to Quezon City, Philippines. He is also thinking about buying a bigger house for himself. "Four years ago, when I moved to this place, I thought the space was big enough for me," Diether says. "But now, I find it so cramped because of the things I've been getting. Hopefully, I can get my own townhouse soon." From TV, Diether has made a smooth transition to the movies. He has appeared in a number of big screen blockbusters, including one with Maricel Soriano in "Soltera." He was also in the stellar lineup of other films like "Dahil Mahal na Mahal Kita," "Bakit Pa," "Mula sa Puso," "Calvento Files," "Magandang Hatinggabi" and "G-mik: The Movie." Like any other actor, Diether aspires to have his launching movie. An acting award is not too much to ask for, too, he says. But he is biding his time. And biding it well. After all, he believes patience is his greatest virtue. Given more good breaks, he is well on his way to his ultimate goal.

I just would like to beg to disagree to LumpiangSariwa's post.

Don't you know that Diet is the richest among the Hunks and he has the business acumen that none of his fellow Hunks has. He is pretty stable now and in fact ready to leave showbiz if need be to lead a peaceful family life.

And didn't you know that he got a grandslam nomination for his role in La Vida Rosa and another nomination for Bukas na lang kita mamahalin??? As they say pana-panahon lang yan,,, this is his time to shine so give him a break...

i think diether can speak good english. i saw him in interviews before and he speaks in english. maybe he doesn't speak english like lea salonga who is very good in it, but he can definitely speak the language....and anyway, hindi naman kabawasan sa pagkatao nya yun eh, mas marami pa sa showbiz world ang hinde marunong mag-english kesa sa kanya.

Yesterday i read an article about them where they (Diet and Tin) both said that they've erased their first impressions of each other already. Dati pala pareho silang nasusupladuhan sa isa't isa. Diet said that Tin thought he was full of himself. Tin said naman that Diet thought she was aloof...tipong di nakikipag-usap sa iba. But after working daw on an almost daily basis, they've become good friends. Tin complimented Diet by saying that he's such a gentleman. Very attentive sa kanya. Diet said in his interview na ok kasama si Kristine. Baka kaya nga they've been seen together kahit walang taping. Sige, kahit group date lang ok na.;)

yeah, i think "bestfriend" nga ang meaning ng BES. Kasi Assunta and Claudine call each other BES too. Buti naman close sina diet and tin.

Bad impression

THE NEWEST television coupling of Diether Ocampo and Kristine Hermosa started as intense dislike for each other.

This is what the couple admitted to Inquirer Entertainment during a press visit on the set of their drama series.


"When you don't really know her, you'll have a bad impression of her," said Diether.

"Siya rin, feeling n'ya ang gwapo-gwapo n'ya (Same with him; he acts as if he's very handsome)," was Kristine's quick retort. "But all of that changed when we started working closely together."

Even if the two are not involved with anybody at present, both do not see a future where they would fall in love with each beyond "Sana'y Wala Nang Wakas" in Macabebe, Pampanga.

Sparks

"For me, there should be sparks between me and the guy that I like. There are still no sparks between me and Diether," Kristine confessed.

She confided that she only felt sparks with Jericho. Among the men she has been linked to, it was only Jericho who became her boyfriend, says Kristine.

But she's not lacking in suitors. There's a guy from Cebu who has been ardently pursuing Kristine for four years now. But the actress claimed that she's not inclined to plunge into a relationship yet.

"Right now, I'm single and happy. I'm more careful now in getting into a relationship. I got so hurt from the last one with Echo (Jericho's pet name). It's so hard for me now to trust again. I don't want to cry again," says Kristine.

Kristine's and Jericho's love team was launched in 2001 in the soap "Pangako sa 'Yo." In their second movie together, "Ngayong Nandito Ka," Fil-Austrian model-turned-actress and host Cindy Kurleto played the other woman in the couple's love story. Cindy was also said to have been the reason for the couple's breakup.

Although Jericho and his reported current ladylove, Cindy Kurleto, have not publicly admitted their romance, Kristine believes the two are an item.

Motivation

"That's why there's no reconciliation between us," she said. "And there's peace in my life now."

The heartbreak has served as Kristine's motivation in her acting. She's not affected by the entry of Angelika in "Sana'y Wala nang Wakas," who was also Jericho's girlfriend before she entered the picture.

"We're not close because we haven't done a scene together. I really hope that it will happen soon," she said.

Kristine is also doing a movie opposite Aga Muhlach, where she plays a "runaway bride" who finds solace while on a cruise. This is a big opportunity for Kristine to prove that she's ready for solo stardom. Apart from swapping dramatic lines with Aga, she also has several kissing scenes with him.

"I don't know how many. We've only done one," she says. "I always feel uncomfortable in kissing scenes. I would shake because of nervousness."

Like Kristine, co-star Diether is hesitant to get involved. In fact, he saw himself in the character Jack Nicholson played in the romantic comedy "Something's Gotta Give." He admitted that he can even relate to Nicholson's line to a heartbroken Diane Keaton: "I don't know how to be a boyfriend."

Diether called the statement an "eye-opener."


He explained: "I acted as if I was committed in a relationship but I was not really."

Diether was obviously referring to a past dalliance that turned into a non-romance.

He admitted that he was also affected by the scene where Nicholson's lothario character, Harry Sanborn, is slapped whenever he meets his many ex-girlfriends, except for Marin (Amanda Peet), who plays Keaton's daughter in the film.

Coy

"I got scared when I watched the movie because I felt that I would end up like him, who was already old when he finally fell in love," Diether told Inquirer Entertainment.

He turned coy when asked his age and refuses to divulge how old he is. But in the Talent Center's page in the ABS-CBN web site, Diether's birthday is listed as July 19, 1976, making him 27 years old.

This makes the actor, band member and businessman four decades younger than Nicholson's Harry, who is 63 in the movie, and 67 in real life.

Diether also declined to talk about his past relationships. But he said he's unattached at the moment. His eyes disappear into slits as his dimples show in full splendor when he is asked about his rumored girlfriend, Andrea Bautista, a chinky-eyed beauty with deep dimples on her cheeks.

He claimed that he and Sen. Ramon Revilla's daughter have been friends long before he entered show business. He added says he doesn't have a problem with Andrea's family, contrary to what has been reported before. In fact, he has campaigned for her actor-brother and senatorial candidate, Bong Revilla Jr., in Cavite, where Diether also hails from.

Reluctant soap star

"Only time can tell on what's going to happen between me and her," he said, stressing that it's very important for him to have an inspiration. He said he's determined more than ever to excel in his profession. He might be involved in several enterprises like a water-refilling station, a publishing company and a fitness center, but show business is still his top priority, says Diether.

Diether admitted he was initially reluctant to act in a soap opera again. A few years ago, he starred in the afternoon soap, "Recuerdo de Amor." But the chance to work anew with the director and the production team of his past show made him accept the offer.

"Sana'y Wala Nang Wakas" was supposed to be a vehicle for the successful Kristine Hermosa-Jericho Rosales tandem. But the storyline took some serious twists and turns, and now Jericho (as Christian) is paired with Angelika de la Cruz (Mary Ann), while Kristine (Ara) cozies up with Diether (Leo).
