jensie_gwala pa pm ko. bench fix? ayoko ko na dun, they really cant make or cut the hair style that i want, i get upset afterwards. now i go to tony and guy, i think the minimum they charge for a hair cut is 600, thats what i pay. and the fee depends on the stylist also.
i opted for a personal stylist so i can tell her if i like the cut or criticize the outcome, with bench fix i cant do that. im stuck with the mentality that since your only paying this much, thats means that you dont have the right to complain, but it only goes for the haircut. and also since i dont want to be a difficult customer.

abscbn: I might as well share my LONG OVERDUE tips here. Ganto... the very moment you stain your shirt... rush to the sink... rush! rush! tapos itapat mo sa faucet yung part lang na may stain. Don't get your entire shirt wet. Remember this. Tapos gently brush it off with lukewarm and steady water rushing through. Do this gently until it disappears. Then use tissue or towel to dry it off. As simple as that. But I do hope I could demo this to you para mas swak. My friends who are into modelling and fashion taught me this. They have had horror stories of staining their clothes shortly before their fashion shows. Ganto style nila.

guys! which salon (and stylist from that salon) can u recommend? i used to go to propaganda for my hair but now that my stylist hasn't come back yet (gigi), i am on the lookout for a nice (even nicer) alternative. I tried studio546 in Shangri-La Plaza, i had extenso there which i would say is ok but the cut i got from their creative director, although ok, did not match what my previous stylist does for my hair. :mecry:

jensie_g: I do. But only if they do a good job at cutting my hair. There are even times when the shampoo girl gets a tip and the stylist doesn't. For Fix, I give P20 max. I still follow the 10% rule. :)

I honestly don't know. I haven't been to a barber for 6 years. The thing is, if I remember it right, you won't see your sideburns being defined if you get a barber's cut. Hindi kasi kaya ng barbero na nipisan yung buhok mo without using the, uh, machine. A stylist will take portions then snip off. But don't take my word for it. Magpa-stylist ka na lang kasi. One time splurge, but heck, if you get the specific hairstyle you want, won't it be money well spent?
medyo hndi p la tau nagkakaintindihan
yng barber cut na cnasabi ko eh style yun ng buhok yng 3 by 4 ata yun yng gilid *** ang ginugupit....... old na style
pero sa stylist **** ako ngpapagupit...
ang tinatanong ko is kng pde na ba ang hair ko kc hngang batok plng ang hba ng buhok ko so pde n b ipalayer yng ganun?

I've tried some of the most expensive salons: Salon de Tashiro (P2,000+) and Toni & Guy (600+) and in the end I got stuck with Bench Fix (Glorietta 4 - stylist: Toffer Prieto and Festival Supermall - stylist: Glenn). I've been having my haircut there for almost two years now. There was one time though that I sported the typical barber's cut by Bruno's for a change. I don't know if this is just me, but one thing I realized is, whichever salon I go to, I don't really see any big difference in the way they style or cut my hair. Unless I have it dyed, permed or grow it really long , I feel that my hair will only look like different versions of the same look I've had since God knows when. So for me Fix is the most practical choice for a salon since I can get the same look as what Toni & Guy and the other more expensive ones can do to my hair.

I usually give a P50 tip to my hairstylist and P20 - P40 for the assistant. Basta the total tip should not go beyond P100. But there was a time when I couldn't tip because I didn't have cash. I often use BPI EPS in my transactions.

I just bought a blazer (H&M). Made of linen, its navy blue with white pinstripes. Goes great with almost all casual wear... white, brown, or black shoes, short, long, retro shirts, etc. I personally think it should be a standard in every mens wardrobe... you can dress it up or down accordingly.
Sadly, the reason i bought it is because i left my old one in a hotel room. :(

Hey Jensie, I also do that Greenbelt-Landmark-Glorietta (not necessarily in that order) "pilgrimage" whenever I have the whole day to spare. :) I sometimes include SM, Park Square and Market Market in the itinerary. :) On Sundays, I just hop between Festival Mall and Alabang Town Center. On rare occasions, I go to Greenills and Divisoria. ^^^Great, we share the same routine framework then. It's quite stress-relieving to window shop kasi. I'll never get tired of doing that. Besides, I think it's the best way to combat impulsive buying.

^^ I agree, window shopping is the best way to combat impulsive buying. It's one way to delay gratification and get some time to think and select the best.
Too bad I don't know how to get to Recto. Is it safe there? I am so into DIY lately. I chanced upon this stall in the newly opened 50th Avenue in Alabang Town Center where they make customized t-shirts. The nice thing about it is that you're not limited to screen prints because the designs are computerized. I know this is old desktop technology but I don't want to hassle myself with all the effort and materials. All I have to think about is the design, on which is something I'm so willing to devote my time.
BTW, is there any store that sells "appliques" or patches? Also, I'm such a klutz at needlework. Is there like a fabric glue available in the market?

As for price, well, Dolce & Gabbana has been manageable when it comes to their pricepoints, especially with menswear. A suit, complete with jacket, trousers and sometimes a waistcoat, will run you about $1,500. In all designer-isms, that's really reasonable.

I can buy those things but most of the people here wear generic Kmart clothes, so a La Coste shirt from Macy's already wows them. I guess anything beyond that level is too godly for them. (I am so bad. I feel like I'm at a bar talking smack about the people I don't like at work!)

mysticpaladin
Jul 3, 2005, 02:45 PM
^ Woah. $50 for alterations? That's a lot man. On a related note: I read a CARGO reader in one of their issues talk about having their suits done in either Europe or Asia, because it'll definitely come out cheaper than in the US. I totally agree to him, especially because, in the case of the PI at least, your dollars will get you a lot.
Jensie: True. They're clearing out Spring/Summer inventory already and making way for Autumn/Winter stuff. Darn. I was checking out AE.com (yeah, I know, quality's off, but hey, they're dirt-cheap), and found nice tees and shirts on clearance. Sayang nga lang, they don't ship to the Philippines and using e2door will kill the savings I would otherwise have gotten.
O, to appease you, Terranova's on a 199-999 everything Sale. Only the branch in Galleria has menswear, though. Tutto Moda and Benetton are both on sale, too.

What do you guys think of Regatta's new image for 2005?
Parang ang kewl sa mata. Pero basing from experience, madaling mag-shrink at mag-fade ang collared shirts nila.
clawed_out
Jul 4, 2005, 12:14 AM
Wash it in cold water & less detergent if ever para maiwasan ang pagshrink at bleed ng colors.
I have several shirts that shrunk so bad that my nephew could wear it.
I don't know what Regatta brand is but basing from the name it's on the same genre as Nautica. Bold & full of primary colors. Nice.
mysticpaladin: I didn't know that I have abercrombie kids/adults, hollister/ae/gap/bananarep/express stores two blocks off our house! haha.

KEEP YOUR COOL WHILE YOU LOOK COOL WITH THE NEW DOCKERS® MINUS 5 COLLECTION
(January 10, 2005) The new Dockers® “Minus 5” apparel collection from Levi Strauss & Co., launched this Spring/Summer 2005, will keep wearers cool even when temperatures rise.
Through the latest innovation in fabric and finish technology, the Dockers® Minus 5 collection not only boasts useful properties of being oil- and water-repellant and wrinkle-resistant, but also keeps wearers up to 5 degrees Fahrenheit cooler. It’s also fast-drying, breathable and durable, and maintains its good looks by staying wrinkle-free and fade-resistant.
“With Dockers® Minus 5, the wearer remains in control even as he takes on the heat. It’s the ultimate attire for every urban situation, wherever the Dockers® consumer may find himself. With Dockers® Minus 5, you’ll always be prepared for challenges, whether it’s taking on the tropical summer heat or remaining confident in every social setting.” said < affiliates to insert local spokesperson >.
This innovation was enabled by the coating of wicking and ionization chemicals on the inside of the fabric, working to dry sweat and evaporate moisture quickly. The result- a comfortable body temperature, ensuring that the Dockers® wearer is always kept dry and feels good.
To communicate this wide range of benefits of Dockers® Minus 5, the new collection will be launched with a print advertising campaign in selected Asian markets. The campaign was developed by Bates, Malaysia and shot in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Three print executions portray a model in a variety of everyday social situations where he’s under pressure but always maintains his cool in Dockers® Minus 5 apparel. Whether in a bar filled with sizzling, beautiful women; as he prepares to impress on the golf course; or even when he’s the consummate host grilling food at a poolside barbeque, nothing will faze him as he remains confidently cool, fresh and in control.
The Dockers® Minus 5 collection comprises tops and bottoms for men, building and complementing the overall Dockers® look.
First introduced in 1986 to fill the void between jeans and dress pants, the Dockers® brand has expanded from a line of men’s khakis to an ensemble brand featuring complete collections of casual pants with complementing tops and accessories. As the leader in casual businesswear, the Dockers® brand continues to update and expand its products so that discerning consumers can wear comfortable but stylish clothes that offer versatility at work and play, while expressing their personal style and confidence.

Guys, medyo nalalabuan ako dun sa Minus 5 concept. If that were true, you are to feel cooler while wearing it as opposed to wearing a simple cotton shirt. I don't think it works that way - or at least I felt it was kind of hot.
The price was around 3600 - i think most Dockers jackets are worth around that much, right?
Weird, I can't find any pics with the minus 5 thing on it. The "made in china" clothes are not in the Dockers database. tsk.
skuidward
Jul 23, 2005, 10:11 AM
^^ Cotton for me still feels warm on the skin on room temperature. Does your jacket has the minus 5 technology already?
About the minus 5 thing, they must've used a different kind of fabric, imbued it with the same breatheable qualities of cotton, and added extras to make it unique.

oxygen designs are ok since they are more european than american. studying in europe before, i think mas ok yung mga sizes/cut/fit nila because ang small/xs size ng europe cut mas pareho sa medium/large na filipino body size. unlike yung american fit, parang "fubu" lahat. haha. sorry can't describe it anyway better.
however, like bench and penshoppe, di naman sa panlalait or what, you don't wanna be caught wearing one. most especially that i think men are more brand conscious than women.

Take it from Jensie, Aaron. 50% of Celio's 1st, 2nd and 3rd quarter earnings are from Jensie's and his advertising industry colleagues and friends.
where do i find a celio store? .. and what is the price range .. lets say .. for a longsleeves and a slacks??

They've closed most of their stores in the country except for the one in SM Megamall.

does anyone go to TONIC sa ortigas? ano mga shirts nila dun?
I go there rather often, but never bought anything. The prices are too much for a t-shirt. (Granted, they're unique and all. But still, P2,700?)

Jensie, dapat ikaw ang sasagot dito!
There's Celio in Greenbelt 3 and Powerplant Mall.
Typical LS price: P2,500-P3,000
Slacks: About the same as a long-sleeved shirt.

Hi aeneas!
mysticpaladin is correct.
However, you may want to allot 4T-5T since almost every item in a Celio store is irresistible.
Long sleeves (the best ones) are usually around 2,800-3,600 bucks.
Good luck!

thanks a bunch... 4T is my usual budget when going shopping... hehehe.... I'm into slim fit longsleeves today...... i'm a bit slim (31 waistline).. so regular fit longsleeves are too baggy for me... do they have slim fit at celio?.... and aside from celio what other stores sell slim fit longsleeves that are suitable for office wear...... i only got one slim fit from Fratello at Landmark... though they don't sell too many.. so what i did was to get some "okay-cool" longsleeves from other stores (like SM) and have them repaired and voila!.. i have a slim fit longsleeves... hehehehe and its not as pricey as Fratello... hehehehehe

Tapos, where can I get graphic tees for less than 1 thou, like the ones sold by analogsoul (http://analogsoul.sound.ph) ?
hehe wala lang.

Aug 12, 2005, 07:47 AM
Vintagevantage.com shirts are different from what PRP is selling. I guess they only copied the name and the idea. That is what most of the local brands do today, copy designs from foreign artists! I even read about this girl Japanese graphic designer whose works were used by Bayo for their kids clothing!
If you wish to purchase online try:
digitalgravel.com
karmaloop.com
threadless.com

I think the question answers for itself already. No matter what, an ill-fitting suit is an ill-fitting suit. It will never flatter any body type, and it won't get mileage even if it bears the "Dolce & Gabbana", "Dior", or "Yves Saint Laurent" label.
