News of the weird: Minneapolis is America's most fun city
November 5, 2003
Chicago's kind of fun, but Minneapolis -- that well-known bastion of frivolity -- is way more fun, according to a survey done for a board-game company.
Minneapolis took the top spot in the survey because it "has more theaters than Boston, more parks than Denver, more golfers per capita than any other city in America -- and, with 10,000 lakes in the state, Minnesota has more coastline than California, Florida and Hawaii combined."
Two California locales -- Orange County and San Jose -- were ranked No. 2 and No. 3. Fourth place went to Atlanta, followed by Chicago at No. 5.
Boring Las Vegas? A lowly No.25.
Mickey-Mouse Orlando, home to Walt Disney World? Lucky to be No. 36.
Staid New York? Safely ensconced at No. 41.
Last on the list of 56 cities was Niagara Falls, N.Y.
The rankings were done by Bert Sperling, who did "Best Places to Live" reports for Money magazine and now runs the Web site BestPlaces.net. He was commissioned to do the "fun cities" rankings by Cranium, a board-game company in Seattle -- which was ranked No.10.
The rankings were based on an analysis of factors including sports teams, restaurants, shopping malls, boat ownership, theaters, toy stores and spending on recreation.

Orange County????
The whole of Orange County?
There are 40 cities under Orange County.
Maybe just ORANGE, CA which is under Orange County.
New York is only #41? Las Vegas only #25?

i lived in Minneapolis for 2 years (im in LA now), and agree ako sa ranking na yan.
iba kasi ang definition ng "fun" nating mga pinoy compared sa mga puti.
MN is perfect sana except for the freaking cold winter!

Vegas, New Orleans, New York City, Miami and Austin, TX in that order. Believe I've been to all these cities and just about every major city in the States.

a week? kung ako yun, ubos na agad pera ko, third day pa lang.
definitely, these surveys are not so accurate. they always depend on the number of people being asked, and their preferences. it's not the whole of america, nor the whole number of tourists in america whom they conducted the survey with, eh? ;)
however, i don't dispute the spot where Las Vegas landed on the survey. hindi ka kase masaya dun pag wala kang pera.

Minnesotan here! Yes I agree with the #1 ranking. It is a multi-ethnic metropolis, educated population, environmentally conscious, lots of outdoor activities, lots of lakes, dynamic people all around

Summers in Chi-town are awesome. Ignore the extreme heat and there are tons of things to do. All the beach volleyball courts at North Beach (plus the women in their bikinis) . The Pro Beach Vball league also make a stop at Oakstreet Beach.
The Ferris Wheel at North Pier (it's the twin of the one in London). Rollerblading on Lakeshore drive... All the museums to go to; each having 1 day during the week that's free...
hehe.. dang, I should move back home...
