hi! been here for 4 months palang. i noticed there isn't a lot of filipinos around except for some of my husband's ofcmates.....and a few living in the same compound/apartment complex as us. we're here in phoenix.... hope to hear from pinoys out there!:)

Hey guys, anyone from AZ? I'm joining my husband in AZ pretty soon (near Phoenix), so I'll be totally alienated from everyone I know except my hubby. Any ideas about the State aside from its extreme climate (very hot summer and very cold winter?). I've only been to the Grand Canyon and that's it. Any info will be greatly appreciated. Thanks :)

I have a sister in Arizona. I'm not filipina though, neither is my sister. She is in Buckeye, not far from Phoenix. We were there in february. My husband is Filipino, he is from Mindanao and we live here in Toronto Canada. When we were there, in Arizona, we met only two other Filipinas. One worked in the airport for Delta Airlines, and is married to a white American, and the other was a young girl we saw in Chandler. She was not too friendly, but the woman at the airport said that there are not too many Filipinos in Arizona, she only knows about 20 there. Actually most people there are Mexican, my husband was mistaken for a Mexican a lot. You know people there are really friendly. It is hot but I think you will like it, there is a lot to see and do in AZ. Is your husband in the airforce? There is a big base not far from where my sister lives. Everyday we watched the f16 do their training. If you get the chance go to Tucson it's a wild town. And don't forget to go to Alice Cooper's restraunt in Phoenix, it's by the ball park. Of course there is the grand canyon. That place is amazing. But I know you will like it there, people are really friendly.
Take care we might see you next time we are there. Just look for the Italian with a Filipino guy. Don't forget your sunglasses, it's really really sunny there :cool:

I'm not sure about Phoenix, but inthe Arizona State U in Tucson, you might be able to find some Pinoy students among the Asian student clubs. The Asian clubs are located in one building.

I have friends there, pero 6 months lang dahil pinadala lang sila ng company nila dyan. I went to GC a month ago. ang ganda sobra!! tapos naabutan pa namin ang sunset...really nice!! then we also went hiking sa sedona. it was fun! gusto ko ulitin.
