Hey guyz!

I'm presently workin' for a subsidiary of a financial institution as a Sr. Business Development Officer, and I have the usual 8-5 job.

I'm plannin' to get a part-time job, and considerin' call centers as one of my options.

Are there any call centers in Makati or Ortigas that accepts part-timers? I usually have 4-5 hours free time every day.

Thanks. :)

Its really possible to work full time while studying.. Im doing that right now. Mahirap but its just a matter of getting used to ... I work for a call center in ortigas on a night shift and during my days off, which is MONDAYS and TUESDAYS, I go to school .. Im taking up NURSING.. konti lang units na tine-take ko right now.. so compromise ko rin yung time na matatapos ko yung degree (this is my second degree)... which is okay lang naman because I also enjoy my job and Im not so keen in practicing nursing here.
I guess it would depend din sa account.. Our account is dsl. Technical support. Madali lang yung work kasi after the call wala na masyado iniintindi. Try to apply with our company (convergys)

Hi there!

I posted this on another thread. Here it goes....

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

PeopleSupport accepts undergrads (in fact, I've trained some undergrads myself), but mostly under part-time positions in my home account in PS (I'm not very sure about the global numbers in the company). Usually, part-timers have a choice of their preferred schedule (but this is also contingent upon the demands of the client).

In PeopleSupport, you can always walk-in and hand your resume to the front desk (which is always best), or you can email your resume in.

PS has just recently started setting up electronic kiosks in public areas where you can enter your credentials, and your application will be processed within 24 hours. I'll try to ask from HR where the kiosks are located too, and I'll post it as soon as I can.

if you want, you can forward your resume to HR through this email address... manilajobs@peoplesupport.com

hope this helps :D

er, goonie.... ang labo din ng peoplesupport...i mean, when i called them up to ask if they accept students and part-timers, the hr guy (i won't mention his name) said they're not in urgent need of part-timers...then he asked some info about me then after a few minutes he asked if he can conduct a phone interview then he scheduled me the following day for an exam...i passed the exam and i was scheduled for the final interview the following week...i mean they could have just interviewed me that same day since it wasn't even lunch time yet...well unfortunately for me, i got lost and stuck somewhere in makti and i was quite late for the interview...and there was something that the hr girl did...i had my ojt in the hr of another call center and i know the do's and don'ts in hr...she did it as if she wasn't trained well...but i just kept my mouth shut...then the following day they said they were not in urgent need of part timers...er, duh! if they really are not in need then y did they have to make me take the exams and undergo the processess...their words contradict their actions..and i guess i'm old enough to understand what a no means..guess they're breaking it to me gently...not that i'm sour graping...it's just that ang labo...d naman pala nila kailangan DAW tapos pag-papaexam pa...it's just a waste of time...anyway....no offense to the peeps here working at people support...i just wanted you to know that..nakakainis...

Convergsys accepts part time.
i'm an undergrad student and a full-time TSR at WEST.
no problem pa naman sa studies kase sembreak ngayon. since i know my work sked, il work my studies around it. and then, i have to discipline myself and get used to this half-lives everyday.

^ingeborg^
Oct 21, 2004, 06:50 PM

yeah right CONVERGYS accpets part timers but make sure that you are available with the schedule they'll give to you.

Im also an undergrad and a TSR at WEST. It's a matter of proper time management and ambition, it's a satisfaction that you'll study and earn a good compensation at the same time. At WEST they can offer you as big as 13K-14K.

kaboomerangle
Oct 25, 2004, 10:54 PM
^depende kasi sa bond kung meron at gaano katagal. I heard the bonds sa ibang call centers are for 6 months, so if you plan to work there at di tapusin *** 6 months for example, you will have to pay the bond.

better if you ask the call center guys mismo; i'm not much in the know.

CiGaWeTte
Oct 26, 2004, 02:04 PM
For ICT Group (http://www.ictgroup.com) there's no bond :) hehe. but no part-time :D

Hi crazychick!

Yeah, I know Geb. I've recently worked with her and her team when I rolled out a training program for them last weekend. She's a great gal :D

Most probably she'd forward your resume to the recruitment team of our HR Dept. I don't really know how long it really takes for them to process applications, but usually resumes that get forwarded internally are given some level of priority. Maybe you should expect a call sometime within the next week.

Wish you the best, and I do hope I get to see you some time soon in our training programs! Good luck!

guys do call centers have an age limit? I stopped studying then worked for 3 years then studied at a technical school (graduated) and am now pursuing my BSCS degree. I want to jump start my IT career na because I'm 28 na, I might not get many opportunities if i'm a fresh grad and I want to help my parents na because retired na sila both. My work experience is not IT related (textiles). This December my sem is ending and I might put off enrollment so if I get lucky I'd tailor my school sched around my work sched para walang conflict.

Eloquenz is hiring part time. You start at 11pm onwards (as part timer you should render at least 4hours/day, it's up to you to go beyond that i guess as OT and work there is fr mon-fri and salary is per hour basis(4part timer) & that i dont know how much it's gonna be). This is what i heard fr somebody. Nothing more.

i'm scheduled for an interview at west. part-time ang ina-apply-an ko. paano ba ang sistema ng part-time employment sa west? kasi i'm also employed sa ibang company and strict sila sa "loyalty", eh kaso kailangan ko talaga ng pera :( are they contacting the employer of the applicant? do they require clearance? sana informal employment lang... huhuhu...

how bout this style, workin 4 a part-time but make it into 2 or 3 full-time consecutive nights a week? usually like every monday & tuesday nights....coz i find that effective & stress-free...diba instead of going to the office to work 4 4 hrs everyday, it would be better if the magmt would just give the sched in bulk, in favor of the students...do u know any call center doin that? kasi i had that before w/ teletech, but now they stopped admitting part-timers, but i really refuse to go workin daily for half-day, it really stresses me out alot!!! :)

I had the same problem too. The entrance is in the parking entrance, there's a way there to the elevators. The guards will even ask you to login when when you enter. Just ask the guards. :)

Dear friend,

I once did a research on the BPO industry when I was still working in the financial industry. I suggest that you be choosy in picking the account that you want to work with since you are still a student. Some accounts can be mentally taxing due to the analysis involved. Try directory assistance or directTV order taking.
I suggest you try www.jobstreet.com.ph. The Sunday issues of the Manila Bulletin and the Philippine Daily Inquirer are also excellent sources. Part-time is 4-hour work.

Cheers!

most call centers accept undergrads :) you don't need to submit your transcript of records :D

^^korek. sabi-sabi lang yun.

i'm an undergrad. stopped school muna to save up money for tuition. resume-wise, just state facts. if you haven't had work experience, say so. honestly, i don't think they really care what's in the resume. what's important is how you perform in whatever tests they administer and in the interview as well. so make sure you impress them here.

my true copy of grades sufficed.

check the call center's website. they'd give you instructions regarding submitting requirements. may walk-in din naman eh.

the application process varies from call center to call center, but i thought peoplesupport considers undergrads.

but in my opinion, magpart-time ka na lang muna just so you can see if you can handle the job despite your full load sa summer. depende din kasi yan sa type of account na ihahandle mo. kung tipong tech support kasi, the work is draining kaya most of my friends who used to work and study had to stop studying muna to focus on the job.

how long do you intend to work? :D

i think they'll be assigning you to whichever account needs agents. i've never heard of an applicant being able to choose.

basically, you submit a resume, fill up application forms, go through a preliminary interview (tell me something about yourself chu-chu), written exam and typing test, then go through a final interview.

usual job questions...why do want this job. how can you contribute to the company. and oftentimes, when you're an undergrad and studying pa, they will ask you how you intend to balance school and work. i don't want to scare you off, but more often than not, you have to give up one. you just have to weigh your options, and make sure kaya mo yung load mo.

good luck!

hope it works out for you. :)

oo nga, mejo malabo to. kasi training alone would take a least a month (depende sa account), and i seriously doubt that you'll get hired full-time at the onset tapos you'll ask to become part-time when school starts.

i'm not so sure which call centers have vacancies for part-timers. check on jobstreet. meron ata ang convergys. pero yun nga, mahirap makapasok and get a part-time shift.

i'm not sure kung one day lang.

para mas mabilis maprocess application mo, be there early. kasi kung hapon ka pupunta, baka pabalikin ka kinabukasan for interviews.

if maaga ka, you can squeeze in all the things you have to pass in as little time as possible (e.g. written exam, typing test, interview, etc.) ;)

normally, you'll get results in a few days. mine took 3, i think.

So what did you tell the interviewer when you were applying? that you were planning to work for them ONLY until you finally go back to school? or should you give the impression that you're willing to work for them for a long time, (like willingness to balance it with your studies when you've decided to continue and) even until after you graduated?

yaniyahniyanee
Mar 29, 2005, 05:07 AM
i told them i'm willing to work only until i'd be going back to school. initially, i told them i'd be returning to school by november of last year (which was my intention, but money issues forced me to work longer and defer from returning to school).

i figured i should be honest with these guys...and not to give them any impression that i'm staying longer than i would.

that's just me. i really can't tell you if that would work in other call centers. it's a double-edged sword, so you have to be careful with how you answer. :D

out of curiosity, are you applying as of the moment? :)

and I am thinking of applying in a call center.
After kasi, I have plans of taking a
master's degree.

Anyone who is in this situation right now?
Hingi naman inputs o advice o.
tahnks ;)

im taking a masters degree & im almost finished na rin, usually the classes sa masters eh pang-gabi. so in our office, i asked them for me to be put on the morning shift. they agreed.

mahirap din, kasi when im out of the office, pasok sa school, pag uwi sa bahay, aalagaan ko pa family ko (im married), tapos aral or gawa assignment. so mga 5 hours na rin tulog ko everyday kasi 6am ang pasok ko sa call center. pag weekends ko naman, aral aral aral! kelangan humabol. naiiwan na nga ako sa gimmick ng mga barkada ko, but sometimes we hang out na lang sa garage ng haws ko & drink a few bottles. & that is not to mention a small business im taking care of, but my wife helps me on that side.

it all depends on what course you took, baka mas madali sayo kesa sakin at how many units you will take. kaya naman. but thinking about it since im nearing my graduation. it's a success work nonetheless

MY LORD,

Sa international call center industry outnumbered nhg mga kababaihan ang mga boys. 65 to 35 percent ratio in my opinion.

lordtaz,
I couldnt AGREE MORE! sobra! ako naagawan na ako eh! ang kapal pa ng mukha ng mga iba.. hahaha! goodluck! ika nga maraming flirts.. so marami na ka URI niyang flirts.. so kung mapunta siya sa ibang branch ng call center nila.. asaha mo na.. kung gaano karami ng branches ng center nila.. ganun din kadami karibal ng isang girl.. hmm.. not all.. depende rin sa guy kung faithful..

Any updates? My wife wants to spend more time with our son at home. She currently works as a bank teller. Kahit four hours a day ok lang.

ei, thanks ha. I'm still trying to figure out
a lot of things and options.

Siguro nga mas madali kasi single pa ko
and kumikita na rin mga kapatid ko. :)
Hahay, nakakaloka din mag-isip kung
pano kumita ng mas malaki and on the side,
improving yourself.

Sacrifices have to be done, once (or
probably more than once) in a while..:)

goodluck. ;)
