Ano PASSING Grade sa SCh nyo?

pero di lagi ganyan ang case... pwedeng babaan say, 56-60 ang tres..yun nga lang bababa rin yung equivalent nung ibang range. yung dating pang 2.5 pwedeng maging 2.75 na lang or sometimes kung maawain ang prof pwede niyang gawing 50 ang passing tapos retain pa rin yung normal grade equivalent... magulo rin actually sa UP kasi hindi lang students ang may acdemic freedom kundi pati ang teacher, which means he can define kung ano ang gusto niyang grading system and not even the department chair can stop him/her unless napagkasunduan nila departmental ang grading system (like most math subjects)

where'd you get the 60-65? some subjects have passing percentage points of only 50%.

Sa Accountancy ng UST, 65 ang passing mark kapag Accounting, Law and Tax subjects. other subjects ang passing is 70-75. Base 0 din.

Sa UP-Diliman, 60 talaga ang Math/100. Hindi na bumababa yan para ma maintain daw ang mataas na standard... so far naman, walang nakakuha below 60pts/100 (minsan 110 pag may bonus) in any given long exam sa block namin.
Sa Chem at Bio, 60pts din ang passing /100. Ang Bio pamatay! Tamad pa ang mga profs at ang yayabang kesyo may doctorate na daw sila, ek-ek.

Most instructor's passing grade during my time sa Mapua was 60% to 70%, depende sa instructor or the class' average. The usual base is 0. Most instructors look at the final answer, if it is wrong, then 0 point. So if the instructor gave 5 problems in Math and you only got 2 out of 5 right, then your score is 40.

Believe it or not, professors don't "adjust" the grades to fit into a Gaussian distribution

Wired00 My fellow thomasian, I think the Thomasian B.S.E. graduates will disagree with you when you said "Others (minor subjects)" lets be gentle, ok? We should call them "general subjects" because its true for all and bear in mind, that these are the inchoates.

Passing grade is subjective naman eh, different for every universities and also different for every professors. In UST (Architecture), Professors are given the freedom to have their own transmutation table, I believe so, but some still follow the standand grading system that is stated in the UST handbook that is 3.0= 75 to 78.

For example, in Design subjects some professors have 60 as their passing rate, but mostly 75%.

In math, some 75, 70, some 60, one of my professor even lowered his passing to 40, I dunno why?! But ok to me because I got 2.50
There's also this one Prof in Math where we had a Do or die finals, if you'd pass the test you'd get 1.0, if you'd fail you'd get 5.0 regardless of the previous quizzes and tests...

In english and other minor subjects, its 75....

When I went back to my high school, I consulted my SS Teacher if there is a standard grading system for college, sabi nya wala daw kaya ganun.... The professors are our diyos and diyosa...

DLSU Manila Accounting majors:

(base 0 to):

accounting subjects: 83% (2.0)

law and taxation subjects: 80% (2.0)

so pag 1.5 ka, which is i think 79-82% (for accounting subjects), bagsak ka na, so kailangan mo nang ulitin yung subject na yun. pag bumagsak ka ulit, tanggal ka na sa program. so like samin before, over 10 yung quiz, the passing was 9 because ni-round off yung 83% to 90%.

pag 2.0 ka nga, medyo di ka pa nga deserving dun eh.

tapos may qualifying exam pa after mo mag basic subject na 75% yung passing (which pag binagsak mo ay may 1 ka na lang chance para kumuha, at pag binagsak mo ulit ay tanggal ka na), and mga comprehensive tests pa along the way.

I'm cautioning myself from failing any exam, dahil anlaki sobra ng percentage nila sa total grade, kayang hilahin ang grade pababa up to as much as 3 steps. :mad:
