what's with this term, and why do the ateneans always refer to themselves when using it? moreover, who is it that chooses?

No offense meant. I don't mean to sound boastful, but I just want to address the above questions.

Why the "Chosen Ones"?

It's just another way of saying they are "really special." After all, they are being trained to become Magis. They have a mission to change the world for the better. They are the men and women for others. That's why they are the "Lux in Domino."

They are indeed the "Chosen Ones."

Who is it that chooses?

It's God who inspires them to discover their destiny as "Chosen Ones." God inspires them to discover, but they themselves have to consciously realize their calling as "Chosen Ones." They are indeed really special. After all, they are the "Lux in Domino."

The Chosen Ones are really special. They are destined to change the world for the better. But they are also destined to be scorned and despised by lesser mortals. Perfect example - refer to the above post. It's the price for greatness.
