I noticed lang sa mga topics dito sa Academe, ang daming topics which deals with which school is the BEST, etc.etc.etc. Which library is the best? Which campus is the best? Which school is the best in economics, in communication, in engineering, etc.etc.etc.
Hindi pa ba kayo nagsasasasasawawawawa????
eh pare-pareho lang naman lahat yan! and chances are, in whichever topic, you would pick your school to be the best in whatever field.
i noticed in greenarcher.net, ang daming ganyan! which is the best? why are we better than ganyan, than ganito? Why are we the best?, etc.etc.etc
sa ustexchange, which college is the best, which course is the best, why are we better than ganyan, than ganito, etc.etc.etc
sa atenista.net, wala masyado pero im sure nagkaroon na rin ng ganyang topic, sa peyups.com, sigurado ako mayroon din.
hindi pa kayo nagsasasasawawawa???
ako, SAWANG-SAWA NA. basta ganito na lang, each schol is very different from each other, and it would be best if you treat your school as the best! and not comparing it na lang to other schools! feeling ko kahti 2999 na, may ganyan pa rin. whcih school is the best, which is better in ganyan, in ganito, ah ewan!

Honestly, i can't think of a logical reason why people are so obsessed with the best school issue! If you're gonna analyze it, all the answers are biased! So who the hell cares about what other people would say? Plus, as if naman Philippines lang ang nag-eexist!
Justice..hmmm... don't you think Atheneo you made an illogical reasoning there? First of all when you say justice, it means giving to others what is due to them. In a general context, giving others what is due to them is actually RESPECTING FOR OTHERS. If you keep on justifying how good your school is, and eventually ending up bashing or critizing other schools, don't you think that is injustice? What you have just said is a contradiction, which is one of the logical fallacies as proven by the professionals of the language field!
Im just guessing that the reason why people try to make effort in making their look ooohhh sooo greeeaaaat is because they needed to find a way to uplift their own being...probably a tinge of insecurity there. A person who is conceited and nagdadala ng sariling bangko is known to be insecure. Humulity ang katapat niyan.

It is probably only through their schools that these people can get a sense of belonging.

It's an ego booster and a healthy thing. But this only applies to those who really belongs to the BEST UNIVERSITIES, like UP for public and DLSU for private. The rest are just pathetic delusional wannabes.

It's an ego booster because more or less these people's personal merits are not competitive in themselves. They need the school's image to give them the edge that their personal achievements (or absence thereof) cannot provide.

heheh it's just like advertising.. brand x, brand y.. iba-iba naman consumer preferences for these goods, iba-iba rin naman markets nila. in price searcher markets, like the market of college education, advertising plays a huge role.
kumbaga, because of school pride, we have been spreading the word, doing the marketing for these schools for free (imagine that), lowering the search costs of college applicants (distorted information nga *** minsan).
people, ang sukatan ng galing ng eskuwelahan ay makikita sa kinahinatnan ng mga graduates nito. and i'm not talking about big achievements, titles, paychecks or even fame.
i'm talking about their societal impact, their roles as productive citizens, their performance not only as movers of the corporate world, but more importantly, as molders of the basic unit of society, the family.
bow. appear tayo!
hehe *wink* *wink*
