Saw this one at Wiki. An Ateneo hall with a souvenir/shirt store. Can anyone from Ateneo pinpoint where is this place? Thanks and by the way, the building looks nice although it's quite plain.

the a-shop is at the rear side of xavier hall, the admin bldg. you will have no problem finding it coming from gate 3.

I wish UST was able to preserve the Colayco Park. Wasn't it formerly called Plaza Benavidez? And now that they have the fountain, they changed the name once again. I wish they could have just intercalated the fountain as the focal point of the Colayco park. That would have been a better set-up. It's like a fountain in the middle of a garden/park. Is the coop still there? Damn, those mojos are good.

sana kaya lang, giniba talaga nila yung sa may colayco park, kase yung buong likod nang main building ginawang alumni walk and doon sa may coop daw date, yung fountain, yeah tama ka ,sana hinde na nila giniba yung colayco park, kaya lang luma na talaga eh, eh and medyo madumi na talaga, atasaka diba date, may kalsada between the colayco park and the main building, ngayon wala na, sarado na talaga yun!

now they are planning to renovate the UST growling tigers gym, eh yung gym na yun, historical daw eh, dunno know, the thing is, mawawa la na yung ambience nang pagiging old nang UST.. baka nga matira nalang in the future na old buildings yung as usual the main building and the fac of eccl.. kung saan makikita yung UST chapel

yung nine martyrs sa likod nang CEntral library, giniba na rin yun! pinalit ang UST tan yan kee, and believe it or not, mas naging congested na ang lugar sa may part nang UST na yan :)

Really? they converted that place into something else huh. Yes, I remember that. That's one huge park then. Can you guys take a picture of the park from the USTHS side? I think a shot from that angle will give you a good perpective... or even from the Commerce Building. There's an alley that divides the Garden from the USTHS/Grad School Building...when you walk further, there's a huge lot that leads to the rear side of the USTHS Building. Did they renovate that side or is it still the same?

So where are the Nine Martyrs situated? That's sad because that's like the Arc of the Centuries along the Dapitan side. Having another building infront of the UST Central Library will block the view along the Dapitan Side.

The gym I should say is really old but it would be nice if they can preserve it.. Why not just construct another building right across? They can convert those basketball courts into something else.

wala tinapon na nila yung mga statues, pero sabe sa varsitarian, they are keeping the statue of MR.colayco in a storage room somewhere with in the university

sure, no problem, by monday ill have it posted here.

yung Tan YAN kee tinakpan na yung CEntral Library, pero kalahate lang, meaning the other right side part of the cental library kita pa naman

by the way, FR.arceo OP the new rector of the pontifical university said that they will construct a new multi-level sports complex at the back of the UST alfredo M VELAYO college of acountancy, meaning sa TApat nang engineering cOmplex, sa pagpasok mo nang Espana main gate, sa right side nang ARch of the centuries.. pero anyway

request ko lang to the UST ADMINISTRATION:

thanks

Come on SUCKS, think. What on earth did you eat for you to boldly and blasphemously conclude that UST is the best campus in the Philippines? No offense man but Ateneo's a way better choice for your overrated and over-gratified campus. I find nothing spectacular in UST despite of the many visits that I paid to your nice school grounds.

Secondly, come on. Won't you come to a conclusion that the pictures that I recently posted are nice good enough? If not only for that stupid galileo sucker we should have been all right and done over with the recent misunderstanding and again content with contributing here.

And please, enough of your stupid and sarcastic reasoning. It won't get us anywhere.

May magbabago ba dun?

Pax.

:glee:

Take note, hindi Metro Manila. In simple terms, it's just a bold statement.

I went to UST last Sunday maganda siya in fairness pero ang di ko lang naappreciate ay parang di siya napreserve ng husto naglagay ng parang mall na ewan sa loob ng campus ok sana kaya lang parang di bagay sa mga naunang building ng UST kasi if you have been to UST nung mga late 90's pa that was my college years in a different school lagi ko siya nadadaanan and i really liked the old building alam mo na you are looking at a historical landmark meaning daang taon ang binilang when I went there last Sunday parang di bagay *** mga bagong nilagay nila dun sa mga old buildings nila nawala na yung pagkaantique niya at most of all I hate the electronic billboards or kung anuman ang tawag mo dun sa screen na yun it just doesn't look good again para sa mga taga UST maganda ang school niyo baka kasi me magreact violently pero mas gusto ko ang UST noon for me mas priceless ang istura ng UST noon kesa ngayon modern na masyado siguro old fashioned lang talaga ang lola niyo....

to tell you honestly: pasalamat lang sila na hinde sinama nang THeS sa studies nila ang BOARD percentage nang different exams nang UST, pag sinama pa yun, naku believe me or not, may mauunahan pa kaming school diyang iba...

pero anyway, whats the big deal that UST's ranking is 500th, diyos ko, pasalamat pa nga dapat tayo na may 4 philippine schools pa nag nakasama..

and one more thing, just wait and see, lalo na dun sa mga taong mukhang ewan na grabe makapagpanlait sa THe PONTIFICAL and ROYAL CATHOLIC UNIVERSITY OF SANTO TOMAS, hintaying lang naten ang magiging bagong resulta nang Ranking, and i tell you guys na tataas pa ang ranking nang USte in the coming years. even the rector himself said that. ;)

Andrew Gonzalez Hall. wow! ganda ng dlsu museum. sa la salle pala dinonate ang art collection ng mag-asawang wili at doreen fernandez. to think that wili graduated from ust, and doreen was a professor in ateneo.

di ba puwedeng bilhin ng la salle ang rizal memorial complex, on the condition that they will preserve some of the old structures there, saka pati na rin yung slum area sa likod ng campus, at tayuan nila ng bagong buildings.

Andami namang state-owned properties ang gobyerno na nabenta na e, hehehe. saka ipaubaya na nila sa private sector ang maintenance ng complex, it's about time that they build a bigger sports venue.

at isa pa, babagay sa architecture ng la salle ang rizal memorial. at gaganda pa ang parte na yan ng manila. i think the university is capable of maintaining ang keeping this historical sports complex, sayang kasi, nabubulok na lang ng ganoon e.

http://i146.photobucket.com/albums/r270/kimberly_xclusive/62646075_2ba7dcb69a_m.jpg

To start-off, a bird’s eye view of the FEU Campus and the University belt of Manila in the University’s spanking new 9-storey East Asia College Building

http://i146.photobucket.com/albums/r270/kimberly_xclusive/62644734_9be2252e18_m.jpg

The founder and builders really took a step further to imprint the Tamaraw pride to its students. This banister reads FEU!

My favorite mural at the entrance to the theater. It’s called ‘Empowering the Youth’ and is a stunning stylized (Art-Deco of course!) representation that was meant to inspire the youth. Did it? I don’t know but it certainly inspired me and some of the tour participants!

http://i146.photobucket.com/albums/r270/kimberly_xclusive/62643324_00d85d0ee3_m.jpg

A truly awesome way to spend a lazy Saturday afternoon…my hat’s off to the FEU management and personnel for sharing your jewel taking the Tamaraw pride to the next level!

After sifting a dizzying number of photographs the best campus goes to ADMU. The Ateneo has created a tranquil verdant campus that sets the ideal mood for studying and learning. Nobody sees it for anything but an institution of higher learning. UPD is a close second but edged at the finish line by ADMU's manicured lawns.

The other campuses are impressive in their own special way--- the vertical urban campuses of DLSU, UE, FEU (Art Deco!), Letran and the Old World charm of UST.

Happy Thanksgiving to all!

OT:

hmm back to the topic... for me, the best-looking campus in manila is of course dlsu-manila. :) well, my opinion may be biased since i'm studying there.:bashful: but then again, i'm stating my point based in my own experience.for me kasi, iba **** ang feeling everytime i step into the insides of the school. while it is indeed true that, Taft is polluted, parang nagiging sanktwaryo sa amin yung university mismo. once your inside dlsu-m proper, hindi mo tlg aakalain na na may katabi ang dlsu-m na busy at polluted street. the surroundings are well-kept and are very conducive for learning. *okay*

sa lrt pa nga lang, mapapa-'awwww' ka na everytime you see the green football field, the mighty ballustrades of yuchengco bldg. and there's still the mala-hotel ambience of the andrew bldg. san ka pa? :naughty:

hey the topic here is best-looking ha and not anything else;) *** wlang kkontra...Animo La Salle! luv your own nga dba?..hehe!:bashful:

Yes. I based my observations on the pictures posted.

Did somebody post AdU campus photos in the previous pages?

Two things that dissapoint me in AdU campus is the busy street of San Marcelino, very dangerous for the undisciplined students. Puro heavy trucks pa naman ang dumadaan don cos these trucks are not allowed in TAFT. Other thing is the estero, kahit anong linis at pagpapaganda, di maiwasan na may mag-leak na mga toxic wastes from outside.

But facility wise, esp in engineering courses, we are one with the topnotch facilites and we are competetive enough to level with these top engineering schools in the country.

But before I totally get off topic, here's my take:

I haven't been to any provincial colleges and universities, so my knowledge in judging universities by their look is limited only to NCR. For me, DLSU is the best LOOKING CAMPUS. I've been there for like twice or thrice and I was really amazed by the campus. They were able to maximize the limited space so the buildings were intact, good ergonomics as to analogy. The spacious field has drawn much attention to LRT passengers as well as the facade. But what is that old mansionette between the campuses? Is that a dorm? Andun pa rin ba yun hanggang ngayon?

*okay*

Kuya Danny, yes I know. Pero yung bank lang. That building was once RCBC's before it turned into a Mapua school and before the Yuchengcos transferred to the RCBC Plaza Tower. But I don't know the issue with the car showroom. Anong car brand?

KuyaDanny
Dec 12, 2006, 08:38 PM
It was a car dealership - Northern Motors, Inc. They sold General Motors brands, such as Opel, Vauxhall, Holden, Chevrolet, and Pontiac. The building behind it (on Reposo and Jupiter) which is now a PLDT exchange used to be their service facility. The showroom lobby was perfect for displaying cars, but too inefficient for other uses. Even as a bank lobby, there was too much wasted space.

What I say of DLSU is true for UST--- an oasis of serenity amid the chaos of Espana--- except that UST has a sprawling campus with ambiance that unfortunately seems to be getting commercialized as if geared for entertainment rather than the pursuit of higher education. I watched videos of students playing and plying wet across the fountains! Hmmm.

What make DLSU endearing are its functional architecturally coherent buildings in a vertical campus that maintains an ambiance that is foremost of all truly conducive to learning.

What I said is strictly personal and is not in any way intended to provoke arguments or hard feelings. After all, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Different people may find different things beautiful but these differences hardly matter that greatly. :)

It's not actually that cramped. Sakto lang. It may, actually look like cramped to you pero sa amin hindi.

The School of Design and Arts Building (SDA Building) is a 14-storey academic complex with 65,000 m² of usable floor space designed by Architect Ed Calma. It was built on a 4,560 m² lot that was formerly used as parking space for the college, located at Pablo Ocampo Street, and 500 meters away from the Taft Campus.Once completed, it will be the third, largest, and most advanced campus of the college which will house its largest and busiest school, the School of Design and Arts. While the exact budget for the building is classified, an estimated amount of a whopping 1.2 billion pesos was said to be alloted for the whole building project.

The building features an architectural design never been used before,[21] with a sophisticated façade and all-glass backside and designed where only the tenth floor upwards is visible.[23] Architect Ed Calma relates that the building will feature louvers which, when illuminated at night, will appear like lanterns and considering the location, the lighting effects would set the building apart from its surroundings.

The building will have four floors of above-level parking space and ten floors of usable workspace served by two service and five passenger elevators and five sets of stairs. Among the facilities include the SDA Theater, a 3-floor, 700-seater theater which is cantilevered four storeys above the ground. There is also the Museum of Contemporary Art and Design (MCAD) located on the ground floor, which is a 520 square meter contemporary art museum envisioned to be the first of its kind in the Philippines.[21] The building will have a cafeteria, a chapel, and a two-floor library in addition to lecture, computer, and seminar rooms. There will also be several video, animation, and sound production laboratories as well as a photography studio and a greenscreen TV and film production studio with motion capture equipment. The walls of every room is tilted to have better response to sound, while its open-air corridors are built wide enough to double as exhibition spaces.
