Ayos lang naman sa palagay ko ang mga thread na humihingi ng opinyon, kasi wala namang bagay sa mundo na talagang tama. Kasi tao rin naman ang gumagawa ng mga iyan eh (kahit yung mga survey/study na yan na iba-iba rin naman ang palagay), at ang tao likas na laging nagkakamali. want to enroll in a low budget school or a public school that offers quality education then its obvious---->UP....pero it depends sa course that you prefer. If you want to take up pol sci or anything that's preLAW maybe UPdil or ateneo is the best for that course or maybe BEda.In engineering;lasalle,mapua or slu.business course--->lasalle.thats all..peace...

mas pipiliin natural ng mga tao yung mura, pero ang tanong. meron pa bang mura ngayon? besides UP?

kaya naglipana/ breeding ground ng mga mayayabang doon eh ("hahaha UPCAT reject ka kasi wala ka sa UP"- yun na yata ang slogan nila eh)

sa panahon ngayon mahirap maghanap ng dekalidad na skwelahan lalo na kung ang sinu sweldo ng magulang mo eh kakarampot lang.

solution: just make the most out of what you have. kahit anong school pero kung pwede eh sa presentable at maganda na rin.

The thing is, i don't think that a single school has it all. It is unfair to judge what school is the best because not all schools offer the same courses; judging schools as a whole is actually senseless. Judging as a whole would be a hasty generalization.

The best school will only be the best school for someone if his or her ideals matches the school's. Also, if his or her process of learning matches the teaching method of the school.

Since i have a solid liberal arts backround and management specialization in UA&P, i will have to say that in terms of intellectual, spiritual, and moral growth, UA&P matched my ideals, and intellectual progress; thus, it is the best school for me.

For the other students in other schools, it's up to them to determine whether their school is the best in their fields.

For me, prestigious schools are schools that have notable accomplishments from their graduates for many years now. Aside from the quality education they give to their students, the school has to be 'Popular' also, not just in Metro Manila, but also in the whole country.

I dont think that Carnegie-Mellon is only good in Robotics.

Humanites and Science departments of the University are both excellent.

The Biomedical Engineering of Carnegie-Mellon's tied up with Johns Hopkins' Public Health Program.

Actually, these two Universities dont belong in the so-called "Ivy League" but they are as good (sometimes even better) and as competitive as those who belong in the elite list of US' best. They're (those 2 that i mentioned) just underrated.

sa pilipinas:
university of the philippines system - they have managed to remain the most prestigious university in the philippines for years and produced successful alumni including government leaders (including presidents) and bussinessmen

ateneo de manila university - as they equate, financial wealth+brains=atenean

de la salle university - though they say that lasalistas are just mapera, the standard of education is not being taken for granted and neglected in dlsu

university of asia and the pacific - new but competitive..a lot of passers of up, admu, and dlsu do not actually grab their slots there but rather entrust their future in this institution

university of santo tomas - ka-level lang daw ng feu, ue, at ceu..but for me, ust is more than the old school where dr. jose rizal used to enter as a student..it's more than just a legend.

i'm speaking based on my opinion.....and i know that there are still a lot of GOOD educational insitutions out there and hindi lang talaga sila matunog..meron din namang matunog, pero hanggang pangalan na lang..

UP- They remained to be in the top spot despite of many ups and downs.
Ateneo- Very good school...same as above in terms of quality of education but quite expensive though you can get assurance of having a better paying job after you graduate.
UST- Another good school. Very underrated. A lot of changes are happening right now and I think they're on the right track.
DLSU Main- Good school. Quite expensive. They're very much supported by alumni that brings them on the top.
UAP- new kid on the block. Good in research. Very expensive...
Mapua- remained to be as it is.
San Beda-good in Law
Siliman- very underrated school. Good quality of education...
St. Louis U- similar to Siliman
Xavier University- top performer in board exams but I think only few landed on top spots. But hey! still a remarkable school...

The crux of the matter is that none of these much hyped "best universities in the Philippines" made it to the top 45 universities in Asia (AsiaWeek). UP ranked 48th overall, and 18th on the prestigious category. The other Philippine best did not even come close. In a world that is fast becoming a global village, isn't that a sad commentary to the state of education in the Philippines? Even our best aren't even good enough!

Alright, this thread is for what WE FEEL is the top 10 prestigious universities in RP. that's it. so here's mine.

Silliman University (http://www.su.edu.ph) - CHED COD/COE in Biology, Business, Marine Science, Mechanical Engineering, Nursing, Physics, Teacher Educ.
Location is very conducive for study, away from the hustle and bustle of the Capital. Campus by the sea, good facilities, the Marine Laboratory, the Main Library, the A.Y. Reyes Zoological and Botanical Garden with the Center for Tropical Conservation Studies, the Silliman Medical Center, the Luce Auditorium, the student exchange program to Japan, the Students Around the World (SAW) with students coming from Australia, US, Belgium, Norway, Japan, Iran, Burma, Korea, Ethiopia, etc. etc. (sorry medio biased, pero as they say... Love Your Own... hahaha pero pramis, totoo naman yang mga sinulat ko no... and the rest of my top 10 are...)
