advice on triangulate sound

Hi! Can anyone please give me advice on what to use to make or create triangulate sound?

I'm a computer science major and I'm making a thesis topic on triangulate sound.

I heard that I have to use a special microphone for it. Would anyone know where to buy it?

Please help me and give me some inputs on how to make it.
