Speak your mind regarding school rules that doesn't make sense.

Here are some:

1. Bawal long hair or skinhead
2. Bawal ang sobrang nakakaattract na clothes for girls (micromini skirs, plunging neck line, etc.)
3. No going out to CR during class hours

Haaayyy!!! Wala talagang sense ehtong rule na ehto. Understandable siguro kung bawal talaga ang sobrang long hair like headbangers and kailangan clean haircut...pero sobra naman 'yun kailangan above the eyebrows 'yun bangs.

Tingin ko image lang ng school ang benefits ng stupid rule na ehto para masabi mukhang may strong standards of discipline and school.

Just one thing:

The stupid college uniform.

Honestly, gusto mo bang magmukhang High School uli?

4. bawala sobrang revealing na damit like backless and spaghetti straps
*eh wala kaya kaming uniform.. ang hirap!
guys:
1. bawal daw ang long hair na nakalugay

The "no going to the CR during class" rule is a mark of respect to the teacher/professor, who can't go out during class.

And us: Smoking will be restricted in designated open-air areas starting October. Diba masarap mag-yosi kapag umuulan? Someone raised that complaint, and the reply was, "Eh di mag-payong!" :glee:

I also have a friend from a certain royal, Catholic, pontificate uni...She told me a story about a girl who wasn't allowed to graduate because she was pregnant. The girl told the priests during the hearing, "Why? Would it be better if I abort my baby just so I can graduate?" The priests were silenced. But they still didn't let her graduate.

Di ba dapat "School rules that DON'T make sense"?

Anyway yung rule about sa pregnant students. Ayoko nun, parang sobrang discriminative.

i dunno ah, but some of the rules that people posted here (above) are just for disciplinary purposes... so they're not senseless at all.

for example the cr thing... yeah this is quite strict but one has to learn how to control his/her bladder, better yet know when to go to the CR to avoid going there in important engagements such as a board meeting or a seminar... sinet lang sa classroom level.

slippers n the school of management... shucks, management ka so you have to be presentable to people. at least make the effort to dress up more--some schools even demand looking corporate al the time wthn the department premises. slippers n school?!? do you thnk it's proper? you're n school, not at home or some vacation spot. maybe n up you can do that but observe well sa econ and ba school... bihra ka makakakita niyan dun. that's how most people look at it.

hehe. basta. why make such a biig deal about senseless rules... then complain about it if its going against you so much. kung may sense ang complaint mo, then probably people will join you unto revising the rule...

uniforms: that's why they are called uniforms, to unify & project an image of the school

having a uniform in college helps eliminates status quo, no printed socks, no brown or non leather shoes. no accessories.

as simple as that.

long hair, skinhead: the administration only wants you to look decently presentable.

complain more of what you are not receiving academcally not what they keep on embedding on you, cause sooner or later you'll reap from that. simplicity & discipline <- that's whats important.

you are in school, so act accordingly. discipline should be practiced anywhere. kung hindi kayo makasunod sa mga simpleng patakaran ng skwelahan niyo eh sa bahay or buhay niyo pa kaya?

I still prefer uniforms over casual clothes because you don't have to buy lots of clothes, especially so if you are in school 6 days a week.

BAG INSPECTION - invasion of privacy... :grrr:

- it only teaches students how to think like a drug dealer...
Um... think of a way to conceal a porno magazine? Or a deck of MAGIC (the gathering) CARDS (um... uso pa yan during my highschool days... just in case you might think I'm corny...) Or marijuana... or a deadly weapon? Hindi ba ganyan mag-isip ang drug dealer... kailangan dapat makalusot at dapat makatago... heh... ...

That's the point. This whole "discipline" thing is senseless. Long hair is not unpresentable, it's a preference. And schools should not be dictating preferences to students. Peer pressure is enough.

UP's college of law, for example. Hindi bawal mag shorts dun pero pagtitripan ka ng prof pag pumasok ka ng weekday in too casual an attire. Easy going dudes then "shape up" without anyone forcing them to. As opposed to Ateneo law where they're required to wear long sleeves to class.

ok, bahala kayo. ingat lang sa mga manyak, ha? that's basically the reason behind these rules. but if you think you can guard against a group of six guys who, once you leave the school ground, will sneak up on you, point a gun to your side, start dragging you towards a waiting car while the rest pretend it's just a group outing with a couple having a mild quarrel, it's probably a stupid rule.

good luck, airheads.

The school is not a corporate office so hindi kailangan maging presentable (as in kailangan closed shoes). And I think when the time comes when our graduates go into the corporate world, they are intelligent enough to know that they shouldn't wear slippers.

They only base their judgement sa number of inches ng sole. pag medyo mataas, okay na. pero pag flat, yun... bawal daw. So ano ba talaga gusto nilang iparating sa rule na yun?

As much as I would like to complain, yung dean ng school ang naglagay. wala akong magagawa kasi the school gave the faculty and administrators the liberty to enforce their own rules.

some catholic schools require the marriage certificate of the parents from each applicant...

I guess the parents of the students of these schools agree with this policy. I've read a commentary in the inquirer (from a concerned mother) that she'd rather keep her child away from illegitimate children so that she will no longer have to explain to her child why those children have unmarried parents

why so? para bang their closing the eyes of their children to reality. they're depriving them of something they should know. what if the mother of the child was raped? does it mean their children don't have a right to go into those "some" catholic schools?

i understand they are just too young to know about stuffs as illegitimate family and the like pero mas magandang ituro sa kanila yun habang bata pa...

they are young, but that doesn't mean they can't understand what's going on[if they can figure what sex is at the age of 4 then go figure on this issue] & where they stand. its the parents' responsibility to desiminate what's real. (that's my personal opinion)

SHOERAG RULE

high school...

The no-smoking policy sa UST sucks.

It started out as a lobbying campaign of one member of the AB faculty. Dati kasi bawal manigarilyo inside campus buildings pero puwede sa labas, since even professors smoke.

With the new policy, students and professors will have to go out of the UST premises just to smoke. I'm a non-smoker, but this policy brands smokers as people who are deserved to be quarantined.

during my time, kailangan naka-tuck yung shirt namin tuwing PE classes. mukha kaming elementary students!

This is a paraphrased bash.org entry:

"Most Catholic schools prohibit sporting long hair. Jesus Himself had long hair and a beard; I say if Jesus can, then so should we!"

Hehe nung elementary school ako, sinusukat pa talaga yan. Naka-line up kami sa harap na parang military.

^ Hehehehe, this reminds me of an anecdote my old HS classmate told us. He studied in Adamson, and he claims he saw this written somewhere (I forget):

"Sa Adamson, bawal pumasok ang mahaba ang buhok;
Sa Adamson, bawal pumasok ang may butas o punit and damit;
Sa Adamson, bawal pumasok and naka tsinelas;
Sa Adamson, bawal pumasok and walang ID;

A smart aleck (a member of the Administration or Faculty, my friend reckons) added this at the bottom:

"Hindi studyante ng Adamson si Hesus."

You're so stupid! The reason why smokers should go out of the campus to smoke is that second hand smoke is more dangerous to non-smokers than to smokers. If you want to die, then go ahead.

kung ganon then I can conclude that Silliman Univ is the best amongst school rules...

pwede naka slippers, naka sleeveless, naka sando, naka short skirts, short pants.

the only college na me dress code is yung nursing. dapat white t-shirt, maong pants or slacks and any closed shoes (rubber, leather)

pwedeng long hair, short hair, no hair

no smoking sa campus syempre and I agree to that... those cancer sticks are a waste of money and lungs!

When I was in high school a school rule was bawal mag-artista. You are not allowed to appear in commercials or TV shows. But there was one girl who was in a weekly TV show on channel 2. She was also in a Dole commercial so I don't know what's going on there. Maybe as long as it's wholesome and may approval ng school board ok lang. Or maybe dahil sa connections nya? Another girl who went to school with my sis had to leave bec gusto nya mag-artista and she was in "Classmates" or something...

We weren't allowed to eat junk food but that wasn't enforced so harshly. If they took away your food they'd have to give you something else or else you'd starve.

(PDA parin yun)
=> Skirt ng girls should be 3 inches below the knee (i dont mind pero marami nago-object, nakakadapa daw kasi)

Uniform for college for me is obsolete. In other schools, it contradicts its purpose of being the unifying tool of a school. In UST, uniform tends to divide the studentry.

hehe, sa COLLEGE OF THE HOLY SPIRIT ganito sila mag-emote:

I'm not from CHSM. hehe.

1. bawal ang skirt na mahaba.
-btw, mas maganda tignan yung uniform namin nung hs pag mahaba yung skirt. gumagamit sila ng ruler para icheck yung length ng skirt.
2. bawal ang short hair
-dapat lampas sa hairline yung length of hair
3. kailangan black, white or dark blue lang yung hair accessory.
5. kailangan 5cm above the ankle yung socks mo.
-hindi pwedeng mahaba socks mo. as in gumagamit sila ng ruler sa pagsukat.
