I cant wait till Mano Po 2 and Kuya!!! Excited na talaga ako kasi mga serious films ang gagawin nya...... especially Mano Po kasi si Lorna ang mom nya sa movie and alessandra is going to be his sister. :) And for Kuya naman ofcourse Chynna and him have lead roles kaya exciting din!

I watch him in LOVE TO LOVE, HKK, and sometimes Nuts Entertainment! Dati CLICK din pero he temporarily left kasi super busy with film projects.

I used to watch the Sampaguita Pictures films before with Eddie G. & Josemarie Gonzales - super gwapo talaga silang dalawa. When I first saw Cogie Domingo sa movie ni Maricel Soriano...sabi ko gwapo, then JLC grew up to be a matured actor na...gwapo din...tapos bilang dumating si Richard...grabe, todo na to :D

Chynna Ortaleza’s ‘1, 2 Love’

Actress Chynna Oratelza is not caught in a love triangle because she definitely has her “1,2 Love” in control!



Her number one love is showbiz and in it is actor Richard Gutierrez, her oncam partner. From their stint on the youth-oriented television show “Click,” they have built a romance that has amassed quite a following from televiewers. Their next project together, the recently concluded “Maid to Love” episode of GMA 7’s twinbill series “Love to Love,” was also a success partly because of their love team’s fan base. “Mahal ko si Richard,” she said.


But of course she means it more as a colleague than a real-life sweetheart. She maintains that she is not one to get carried away because their partnership oncam is a success. She sees Richard as a very close friend but she said he never courted her which is fine with her. She knows that they are in a sensitive situation as romantic partners and won’t simply assume that there’s more to it than just a job.


Chynna is happy though that their love team keeps bringing them projects for television and the movies. For television, both of them will appear once again in the second season of “Love to Love” which airs today at 2:30 p.m. after the GMA 7 variety show “SOP.”


In their episode entitled “My 1,2 Love,” Chynna is Nikki, the cousin and personal assistant of Casey, played by Anne Curtis, a popular young star who is in love with actor JM (Richard Gutierrez). In the series, she too is in love with JM but decides to take a backseat because of her cousin. Then one day, JM figures in a car accident and is declared in a coma state. His movie with Casey that they are currently promoting falls into shambles as they don¹t know what to do. They don¹t want the public to know what happened to JM because it will ruin their movie and onscreen romance.


Lucky for them, Nikki stumbled on a person who closely resembles JM physically. He is Tomas, a farm boy. After convincing Tomas to pretend to be JM, the promotional tour of JM and Casey continues. Now comes a new dilemma for Nikki, she realizes she is falling for Tomas, but Tomas is also falling for Casey!


Directed by Mark Reyes from a screenplay by Andrew Paredes and Elmer Gatchalian, “My 1, 2 Love” also stars Sandy Andolong, Danica Sotto, German Moreno, Manny Castañeda, Dexter Doria, Bettina Carlos, Kiel Rodrigues, Caloy Alda, Peter Serrano and Miguel Aguila.


The other episode is “Yaya Lovely” which stars Sunshine Dizon, Tintin Arnaldo and Geoff Eigenmann. Directed by Dominic Zapata and written by Clarissa Estuar, Kit Villanueva-Langit and Des Garbes, it also stars Melanie Marquez, Lloyd Samartino, Dang Cruz, Harlene Bautista, Cris Villanueva, Eagle Riggs, Mel Kimura, Mark Wilson and Kristine Mangle.


With regards to their movie projects, Chynna Ortaleza and Richard Gutierrez will appear together in Regal Films’ “Mano Po 2” and “Kuya.” In “Mano Po 2,” she plays a rebellious young Filipina in love with Richard, a son of a wealthy Chinese family.


“She is comfortable in her own way and she doesn’t pretend to be somebody else. I have a strong personality here and I’m always vocal kaya ayaw sa akin ng mother (played by Lorna Tolentino) ni Richard Gutierrez. But in ‘Kuya,’ my role is like my real life character,” quipped Chynna.


Now the number 2 love of Chynna is Riley Valeroso, a popular young actor who has consistently courted her. Unfortunately, making a decision to become Riley’s girlfriend is not an easy one for her. She is now more cautious about getting into a relationship after her break-up with a non-showbiz boyfriend for three years. She is also at the stage in her life where she is open to meeting more people because of her work.


Chynna stressed though that Riley is special in her life. But because of some intrigues she opted to keep away.


“Because of what transpired I told him that we probably have to stop whatever we have at this point because it is ruining your image and my image and our work. Because of that lay low lang pero siyempre special friend. Sabi naman niya sa akin if I’m willing to prioritize my work, okay. Hindi daw siya bibitaw, he will court me pa rin and wait till I’m ready,” explained Chynna.


Already in her 20s, Chynna Ortaleza is aware of the possibility that her love team with Richard Gutierrez can fizzle out in the future. But as an actress, she knows her career has to move on with or without a love team.


“I just want to be a versatile actress and try new things. I’m still young and I know I still have different roles to take on,” she said. She also has no qualms about doing sexy roles, but she will only decide on that when there’s already a project at hand. And everything will depend on the story and if the project will do her more good as an actress.

this really happened when i was in 3rd year college in UST:

it was a friday morning of august/september of 2001, while i was waiting for a vacant space sa loob ng UST covered car park, i saw i tall good-looking guy sa infront of the c.r. ng covered car park. nagulat ako kasi familiar yung look niya and i remember na isa sya sa mga cast ng click na c richard guttierez at kapartner nya noon si chynna ortaleza. inisip ko na baka dinadalaw lang nya si chynna (na akala ko ay nag-aaral pa rin sa college of arts and letters only to find out later na nde na pala) so gusto ko sanang lapitan at batiin just like how i greet aiza seguerra (who is really courteous enough to smile back at me) then. after i parked and got off my car, i look back at him nang biglang may lumabas from the c.r. na isang gwapong lalaki na maliit ng onti sa kanya at nagulat ako ng pabulong (mouth-to-ear talk ang ginawa nila) na nag-usap habang nakaholding hands. i was watching them habang nilalabas ko yung mga gamit ko probably mga 5 minutes mahigit din yun.after i locked my car, umalis yung guy heading toward the main building.im heading out of the covered car park at siguro nahalata ni richard na tumitingin ako sa kanila kaya inirapan nya ako. nde ko na lang sya nilapitan para batiin.

a week or two later may chismis na lumabas na may boyfriend si richard g. and with what i saw that day, i came to my senses na yung guy na nakita ko holding hands with richard sa tapat ng c.r. ng ust covered car park just below ay indeed boyfriend nga nya. sorry sa mga fans ni richard g. but totoo po yung enounter ko that day...and up to these days, i still doubt his sexuality or gender preference for that matter. looks can be deceiving but deceivers know how to look good in order to deceive more...t/c ;)

Last week’s feature on Extra Challenge should make an interesting case study for sociology majors. Entitled Kasal-kasalan-Bahay-bahayan, it has as "challengers" real-life sweethearts Paolo Contis and Nancy Castiglione and the most popular young love team today, Richard Gutierrez and Chynna Ortaleza.

The early part of Day 1 showed the two couples participating in separate mock wedding rites officiated by the program hosts Paolo Bediones and Phoemela Barrameda. After the wedding, however, they were brought not to their respective honeymoon suites, but to what they called home for a week.

Home for Paolo Contis and Nancy Castiglione was a shack in the squatters’ area of San Juan under the bridge. In this hovel of a home, they took over the roles of a poor couple with seven children – the eldest of whom is only a year younger than Nancy, if I’m not mistaken.

Richard Gutierrez and Chynna Ortaleza, on the other hand, were brought to the Altura side of Sta. Mesa – also under the bridge and by the railway tracks. It is actually interesting to note that the tiny house that was Richard’s temporary home is just a short ride away from the ancestral mansion (very near the motel rows in Sta. Mesa) where his father, Eddie Gutierrez, was raised.

But unlike in the huge Sta. Mesa home where his father grew in relative comfort, Richard – in his side of Sta. Mesa – was exposed to the very bowels of squalor living. Together with Chynna, he had to take care of eight children – bathe them and feed them. (Chynna was horrified to discover while bathing one of the kids that with every scrubbing, another surface of dirt would reappear on the child’s skin.)

Keeping the children clean was the easy part. Raising enough money to feed the entire brood was another story.

To be able to put food on the table, Richard had to take on a job. No, accepting work as an actor, getting paid handsomely and collecting on payday was not allowed. Instead, he had to do what the real father of the kids he was raising actually does for a living. This meant driving the tri-sikad and the trolley along the railway tracks.

Paolo Contis, meanwhile, had to walk the streets to sell ice cream (or was it ice drop?) and, later, banana fritters on a stick (banana cue in street lingo).

With the little earnings the breadwinners made, they just had enough money for lunch. (This is really isang kahig, isang tuka in its truest sense.)

Lunch in the home of Richard and Chynna was rice and corned beef. As the "mother," it was Chynna’s responsibility to prepare the meal.

Now I am not too familiar with Chaynna’s background. I just bump into her in GMA7 and she seems to be a very nice girl – warm and very courteous. I also believe she has the makings of a good actress because she impressed me with her performance in film Kuya.

But whether or not she lives in a palace by the sea in real life and has a platoon of servants at her beck and call, I do not know. Based, however, on what I saw in Extra Challenge, it would seem like she knows basic housework – and once more, I’m impressed with her.

While she can cook rice, she was honest enough to admit that she can only do so through the magic of the rice cooker. Corned beef she can prepare but she still got into a minor argument with her "kids" on how to cook this meal from a can. The children, you see, protested vehemently over Chynna’s decision to throw in some tomatoes into the corned beef dish. ("That’s what we do at home," she pointed out.) The kids said no and insisted on putting salt and vetsin or monosodium glutamate.

I’m no cook myself, but I think they’re both wrong. Chynna was partly right about putting tomatoes in corned beef, except that it would make the dish a bit too sour and this is not sinigang she is cooking, right?

But salt and vetsin in corned beef? Isn’t the corned beef salty enough?

The kids got their way in the end. No wonder, a lot of Pinoys have kidney problems.

In the household of Paolo Contis and Nancy Castiglione, it was the "father" who had to prepare lunch since the "mother" was still out on an errand.

And how was Paolo’s corned beef? I don’t know how it tasted like, but it was swimming in water – with the corned beef bits doing the freestyle, backstroke and butterfly.

Since there was a little more money, he threw in another dish of rellenong talong, which he also prepared. Although the eggplant was grilled too long, he managed to save the dish by dipping the vegetable in his perfect scrambled eggs. Not bad for a first attempt at rellenong talong. Also, I’m giving Nancy extra points because she insisted on saving some of the food for dinner – something any practical housewife would do.

I didn’t get to see the final installment (aired last Monday) of this series that earned an average rating of a whooping 36 percent and an equally huge audience share of 51 percent. (For the benefit of those not too familiar with the how the ratings work, that’s extraordinarily high.) But with this Extra Challenge feature, we see once more that life is not exactly fair in this world.

Okay, so we put in Paolo and Nancy and Richard and Chynna in the slums and make them eke out a living. (And I salute all four because no one among them showed disgust or was squeamish about living among the unwashed.) But then, their good looks and fame still gave them an edge over the real parents of the kids they were supposed to raise.

In the case of Paolo Contis, for instance, it must have been a lot easier for him to peddle ice cream because of his matinee idol looks and the fact that he is Paolo Contis. In fact, when he later sold banana fritters, he was able to sell some at P50 apiece (for banana cue!). Now, let’s see if a regular, plain-looking and sunburned ambulant vendor can also pull this stunt off.

On the surface, the whole exercise of making these four young stars live in the gutters is, well, cute. I congratulate the staff of Extra Challenge for this very interesting and well-put together feature (and, yes, for the excellent ratings).

But in the end – after Richard and Chynna and Paolo and Nancy had gone back to their comfortable homes (and with a constant supply of food on the table) – you stop and ponder about the families they are leaving behind in the squatter colonies of Metro Manila. And you start thinking about the countless people living in such miserable conditions in this country.

In this era of reality-based TV shows, I guess nothing can be more real than that grinding poverty we all saw in this Extra Challenge feature. And it’s not a pretty sight – no, not at all.

Extra Challenge really opened my eyes on Richard and Chynna's real life persona.... ang bait nilang dalawa. Not once did they complain or make any drama... they just went with it and took each challenge seriously. I salute the both of them! :)

Richard Gutierrez got positive reviews for "Mano Po 2." Is his role in "I Will Survive" as good as in "MP 2"?

"They're different," he says. "'MP 2' is drama while 'I Will Survive' is musical comedy. But my role as the naughty and oversexed only son of Maricel Soriano and Jay Manalo is a riot. In one funny scene, my mommy catches me doing self sex. Siempre, hiyang-hiya ako, but I even reprimand her for opening my door without knocking. In another scene, I'm shown having sex on the Internet with my cyberpal at ipinakitang naghubad pa ako in front of the computer. Idol ko rito ang daddy ko, but it turns out he's two-timing my mom and even gives her STD."

It's obvious Mother Lily likes him so he is assigned one movie after another.

"I'm really thankful to her. After this, I'm doing a horror movie to be directed by Joey Romero, na nakasama ko na rin when I was a child actor."

How is it working with Maricel and Jay?

"I call Tita Maricel as mommy as she really treats me like a son. She gives me advice about everything kapag nasa shooting kami. Sobra rin ang bait niya. Kapag sumosobra ang kakulitan ko sa set, siya ang sumasaway sa akin. As for Jay, ten years older lang yata siya sa'kin. We've worked in 'MP2' and he's like a barkada to me."

On TV, his role as Raffy, the vampire, in "Kakabakaba Adventures" is very well received. "Everywhere I go, kids call me Raffy. Kaya nga nang gawin ko 'yung 'Extra Challenge' na sa ilalim ng tulay kami tumira ni Chynna Ortaleza, there were so many kids around and they all called me Raffy. When they're unruly, I tell them, kapag hindi kayo tumigil, kakagatin ko kayo."

Ayon sa unang caller, ang Marinara ni Rufa Mae Quinto at hindi ang Korean TV drama na Summer Scent [Endless Love 3] ang ipapalit ng istasyon sa magtatapos nang Twin Hearts. Saka, hindi na aabutin ng eight weeks kundi five weeks na lang ang TH, at sa June 14 ay magsisimula na ang airing ng Marinara.
