with the current line-up of team b, the only one who may be squeezed in the line up is ken barracoso. unless there is an athletic big man around?

how are the current crop of san beda cubs doing? all i know is they haven't lost a game. who can we watch out for?

I doubt if Jai and Sammy will have room.

i watched the juniors game between mapua and letran just this afternoon at studio 23 and this guy from the red robins stood out...if i'm not mistaken this guy's name is japet aquino...the guy had 12 pts. some 6 rebounds and i think around 10 blocks! and he served up 3 dunks one after being fouled pa...i think scouts should look after this guy...he needs to beef up a little bit but the upside is there...ayun lang naman...and as nickytim stated i'm really curious about the red cubs...unbeaten sila and there must be loads of talent there...and yup barracoso is something galing yun sana makalusot sa team...kelangan natin ng slasher eh...

btw who are our prospects in team b? thanks

Quick correction and some additional information.

Jai Reyes is not graduating with Ken Barracoso. I believe he still has one more year to go in AHS same as the other gunner on the team Paolo Dizon. Barracoso will either play for Ateneo or UP in maybe a package deal with her sister from Miriam. Malupit rin maglaro ang sister ni Ken, plays center/power forward.

There is no hype this year among the Xavier players. The past three years there was always a player up for grabs between LaSalle and Ateneo. Can anybody shed light on Xavier's players this year and are they just hype or the real thing?

The two stars of San Beda are only juniors so UP, LaSalle and Ateneo will have to wait on the services of Taganas and Menor.

There is no player in Mapua by the name of Japet Aquino. The team revolves around their twin towers and a guard. The guard is Tabaquero, very good scorer. The twin towers are Galinato and Aguilar and there is already a long list of schools waiting to sign both players including Ateneo, UP to name a few. Galinato is the more advance player but both are projects who have great upside. You can never teach height and both are at least 6' 5" with Aguilar 2 inches taller. The question on the twin towers is if they are smart enough to pass the entrance exams of Ateneo and DLSU. At UP, they are automatically in with the VAAS program for varsity athletes.

Letran has 2 good players in Bituin and Morial. Bituin has to change his game because he is to small to play the power forward spot in college. If he grows another 2 inches then he can be better than Kramer because he has offensive moves and the experience of playing better opponents.

LSGH and Zobel have decent players in Villame and Abelardo. I do not know if they are good enough to play for DLSU.

Who are in team B of Ateneo? Ang dami and they can be better than the rookies who made the team this year if Jobe and Barracoso are included. There are 3 players from SBC, 3 from ADDU, and Estanislao of AHS. Expect most of them to see action for Ateneo if not next year then in 2005 when there will be more open positions on the team.

I just heard from an unconfirmed source that Baracosso (sp?) has reached a formal agreement with the UP Maroons. Pamalit kay Toti Almeda. Oh well, looks like no slasher for Ateneo...

I think it would be a mistake for Baracosso to go to UP. For sure he'll have a lot of playing time in UP but I still doubt if they'll make the final four. In Ateneo he'll be the top reliever of Fonacier or Magnum, both of which only have a season or two left, its still better to go to a team with a winning tradition and excellent program.

Just look at JR Reyes. He went to UP with all that potential, but since UP doesnt have a decent program, he's turning out to be the Kwame Brown of the UAAP!

Yeah.

Ken needs a year in team B. He's very thin for a college player.

He also needs to learn that he can't just jump and bully his way in a college game. He's 90% dependent on his athletecism in HS.

Playing with the team B big boys would make him refine his slashing skills and hopefully a more consistent jumper and trey. Not to mention getting to defend slashers as big as him.

He could follow the Larry/JC development program. Be a "simple" rookie. Contribute on your 2nd year. Be the "guy" in 3rd yr college. Bawas pressure to deliver pa since the vets are there to mentor you. Just look at how Wes "coaches" JC.

Remember that Larry was not a spectacular rookie - although he showed us the future in that FEU game where he won it for us. Winning layup plus winning block (hmmmm...so familiar)

He learned first. He developed his body, defense, and shooting. Now, he's a 6'3-'6'4 SG who has a a great chance to be someone special in the PROS.

Intriga na naman ito. Barracoso will not sacrifice school loyalty and education quality for a basketball career.

Two of the players are Legaspi and Solitarria. Can't remember the other. Two other players from ADDU tried out with Ateneo before deciding to play for Benilde. One of them is the point guard Robles.

Barracoso does not impress me that much. Fonacier and manalo were much better players in their high school days. Many of ken's points are scored simply through his superior athleticism over the other juniors players.

However, Barracoso could turn out to be a good role player for whatever school he decides to matriculate in come next year. Something akin to what Chris Carrawell was for the Duke Blue Devils: a slasher/defender. it will be a loss to Ateneo if UP snags him, but not as big as losing a Manalo or a Fonacier to another school. ofcourse, Ken can prove me wrong if he adds an outside j and grows a couple of inches.

Ken's a good player...but he does not give me that 'wow' reaction I had when I saw Fonacier and Manalo play for the eaglets.

School loyalty, pwede. Pero, education? As if Ateneo is academically superior to UP???

I agree with Gil Andrews that Ken Barracoso wont sacrifice school loyalty and quality education for a basketball career. Like most Ateneans who are competent in everything they do, academics is his priority.

Barracoso is not your typical basketball player because he's got something between his ears. He was a guardian angel awardee in Prep, graduated with honors in grade school and a QPI of more than 3 in high school.

I am pretty sure that Ken is committed to Ateneo. He is a true blue. I know because he is a friend.
