yeah oo nga pag mahina ang Letran mahina talaga...Pag malakas ang Letran malakas din ang baste (tulad ng sinabi mo) pero panigurado hindi nananalo. Nung nag champ ang baste ng 5peat halata mahina ang Letran pero pagnagtapat naman sa Finals lumalambot.
Galing nga ng sinabi mo eh..nanalo from the expense of others pero naisip mo ba kung kelan tinalo ng stags ang KNIGHTS sa Finals ? Sa Finals ha ? O cge halungkat ka ng archive gusto mo tulungan kita. Beda defeated Letran pwede pa at nagawa ito i think either 77 or 78 yata. Ito ang gusto ko malaman...kung kelan tinalo ng baste ang Knights sa FINALS...hhehehe

Since when did a team's greatness rely on it's ability to beat Mapua? :) Is there an unwritten rule which dictates: "In order for a team to become NCAA Champion, they must give Mapua a drubbing along the way." Thinking along those lines, one is free to say San Beda will be champion only if they finally beat Letran after all these years. And that's a false statement. A team's losing record against another school does not outrightly affect its chances to elevate to the championship. The beauty of a tournament like this is its unpredictablity because one has to watch your own standing as well as other schools' as well.

Andun din yung IN THE MAKING OF THE TRUE CHAMPION ng Letran Knights. Ganda...yun nga lang madrama masyado yung dialogue ng mga players nung mga nasa semifinal round pa sila.

THE JOURNEY TO VICTORY
"It was very hard," says Louie Alas, the man who steered the squad to another fruition, "because our team was not one of the favorites this year."

Alas also remembered last year when he let his players watch the Final Four for them to feel how it was like to be the champions. "I asked them, `Anong pakiramdam nyo? To which they replied, "Coach, sana tayo yung nariyan!" divulges ALas.

Forward-center Eric Rodriguez, narrating another related incident, reminisces, "Once, when we were having a meeting, I asked coach Louie, `Coach gaano po kasarap ang mag champion?" And he responded, `Basta, mafi-feel nyo yan, malapit na, mafi-feel nyo yan'.

"one purpose, one goal, one mission" was the letran Knights motto in clinching the title.

FIVE CUPS IN ONE TRAY
Almost 2 weeks after the NCAA Finals, the ecstacy and pride in Coach Alas` face for the exceptionally good performance of his KABALYEROS (Filipino term for KNIGHTS) still could not be contained. The mentor can onlybe grateful to the Supreme Being for guidance and enlightment.

"I really thank GOD for he was really the One who guided us all throught the season," beams Alas. "Through Him, I was able to juggle up and perform five cups with just myself being the father , the teacher, the counselor, the psychologist and of course the coach", he further relates.

WE attributed our win to God because he was able to coalesce my players "We eat together, we sleep together, we stay together before and after attending mass.

ONE THE WAY TO MORE CROWNS
"There will be not much change in our schedule and routine." discloses Bautista.

Around the last week of December, the team will start conducting weight training, lots of mental tougness exercise, a series of team building sessions and video sessions of their past games, as part of their stages in tuning up after a tiring year's grind at the hard court.

"We always practice hard. Coach Louie also holds running drills for us because that's where our strenght is," says Bautista. The Knights can be seen practicing at the Letran Gymnasium from as early as 6 o`clock up to 10:30 in the morning, after which, they can still attend their classes.

"Good thing, the school currently offers a favorable academic program wherein the players are given the chance to cope with their studies and this is what we are paying extra attention also. It is such a morale booster for the players because it can make them feel that despite their very hectic schedule in being the schools NCAA representatives, they can still pass their subjects and eventually finish their courses," enthuses Alas.

So, will the "We Are The Champions" anthem be played and heard once again for the Mighty Letran Knights come NCAA 2004?
That's something to look forward to.

Once again..the sports programs are still improving as of this year and the years to come thru the help of some alumnis.

I can't wait for the next season to open.
