Hey guys I'm new here and I hope na welcome ako dito. I met Jericho yesterday sa SF airport. Here's the story of my encounter with him:

I went 2 the airport to pick up my mom who was coming from the 'Pinas and I knew that Jericho and Kristine were coming that day!! While I was waiting for my mom she called my cell and said "Nica!! Jericho is here!! I got to talk to him and I told him how much you love him and I even got an autograph for you. Get ready becoz he's going to be coming out soon, he's wearing a black beanie and and black sweatshirt!!" Man was I excited!! I mean I had a feeling they'd be on the same flight kc only 1 plane comes here from 'pinas everyday! so it looked like i was the only one who knew he was coming. So right when I saw them I screamed there names: "Jericho!! Kristine!!" and I ran up to them before anyone else. Jericho was the closest so I said "Hi Jericho I love you!!" and he let go of his cart w/his luggage and he gave me a hug and he even kissed me!! I was expecting to ask him if i could hug and kiss him but he's the one that did!! Then I saw Tin and I said "OMG Tin hi!!" and I gave her a hug...wow she's so pretty in person!! So then I asked Echo if I can take a pic with him and Tin and he said "Ok, you wait." and he smiled...but then the people from ABSCBN got him and escorted them outside. I think I [maybe a few other people] may have been the only one to get that close to them because when everyone else saw me go, that's when they started pulling them away. I was able to go outside and say goodbye to both of them before they left. Wow!! I am so happy!! Can't wait to see them again on Saturday.

When we got home my mom was telling me how she ran into them right after her flight. They were unboarding and I guess Echo & Tin got off the plane already. She came out and had all this stuff with her when all of a sudden she saw a flash like someone was taking a picture, she took a step, and then she stepped back when she realized it was Jericho!! She dropped everything she had and left it in the middle of the hallway becoz she was so shocked. So she took out her magazine and found a pic of Echo and asked him "Jericho! Can I have your autograph after you take the picture?" Echo said "Sure". So after the pic my mom handed him the magazine [it was the magazine w/the pepsi ad of him "Kaya Mo 'To"] and Echo said "Wow! Where did you get this?" My mom said he was very shocked. And his assistant said "That's a promo in the philippines". So while he was signing it my mom asked "Can you make it out to my daughter? She loves you very much. Her name is Nica". Echo wrote: "Big Love Nica! -Jericho". Then she had a convo with him asking him where he's going to be on saturday becoz she told him i wanted to see him. Hahaha...he didn't know his schedule so she said he put both hands on his head and looked all confused [aww cute!!]. My mom told him "its ok, you don't know your schedule yet". That's when she called me and told me and then I saw him...he's so cute in person

So then I asked Echo if I can take a pic with him and Tin and he said "Ok, you wait." and he smiled...but then the people from ABSCBN got him and escorted them outside. I think I [maybe a few other people] may have been the only one to get that close to them because when everyone else saw me go, that's when they started pulling them away. I was able to go outside and say goodbye to both of them before they left. Wow!! I am so happy!! Can't wait to see them again on Saturday.

When we got home my mom was telling me how she ran into them right after her flight. They were unboarding and I guess Echo & Tin got off the plane already. She came out and had all this stuff with her when all of a sudden she saw a flash like someone was taking a picture, she took a step, and then she stepped back when she realized it was Jericho!! She dropped everything she had and left it in the middle of the hallway becoz she was so shocked. So she took out her magazine and found a pic of Echo and asked him "Jericho! Can I have your autograph after you take the picture?" Echo said "Sure". So after the pic my mom handed him the magazine [it was the magazine w/the pepsi ad of him "Kaya Mo 'To"] and Echo said "Wow! Where did you get this?" My mom said he was very shocked. And his assistant said "That's a promo in the philippines". So while he was signing it my mom asked "Can you make it out to my daughter? She loves you very much. Her name is Nica". Echo wrote: "Big Love Nica! -Jericho". Then she had a convo with him asking him where he's going to be on saturday becoz she told him i wanted to see him. Hahaha...he didn't know his schedule so she said he put both hands on his head and looked all confused [aww cute!!]. My mom told him "its ok, you don't know your schedule yet". That's when she called me and told me and then I saw him...he's so cute in person

SOME five years ago, our screenwriting workshopper Jerry Gracio was stumped for a story idea for a film script, so we gave him one of our own concepts, about a sinful girl who is "pursued" by God and pressured by Him to repent and live a holy life.

We got this concept from a poem, "The Hound of Heaven," we had read many years ago, about God pursuing the sinful poet through the subterranean underworld, until the sinner heeded God's call.

From this initial input, we extrapolated a story about a sinful girl who was suddenly confronted with the evil in her life when she inexplicably experienced stigmata.

Holy conundrum
This was a holy conundrum for everyone, because stigmata are usually given to the holy, like Francis of Assisi and Padre Pio. But, we also reminded ourselves that Jesus became man, not for holy people, but for sinners.

So, we felt that an unusual story like this would be a strong reminder of God's love for all of us, including the "unlovable."

Little did we know that, after we gave the basic concept to Jerry, it would take on a life of its own. Jerry was artistically and thematically inspired by the possibilities of the material, and came up with an outstanding screenplay.

Ace director Laurice Guillen was one of the judges of the screenwriting competition where the script was entered. She liked Jerry's work so much that she bought the rights to the script--the first time in her illustrious directorial career that she had done that.

First prize
The script, which Jerry had titled "Santa-Santita," won first prize, so Laurice's faith in it was justified.

Still, it took five long years before "Santa-Santita" reached the shooting stage. When we heard that Laurice was finally shooting it for Tony Gloria's Unitel outfit (for which she had previously megged "American Adobo"), we asked if we could drop by one of its locations to see how the production was coming along.

Wednesday last week, despite the rains, we visited the movie's shoot in front of Quiapo church. Laurice was in high spirits and, while she was waiting for a special camera attachment to arrive, she agreed to answer a few questions about her new film-in-the-making.

We led off by asking the esteemed director why, of all the scripts that have been forwarded to her for her perusal, she had decided to shoot Gracio's prizewinning screenplay.

"I was especially motivated by its being a Magdalene stor-y-about a bad girl who gets called," Laurice shared. "It's a good reminder that Christ came for sinners, and that it's God who calls.

"We usually think that saints are those who are pa-holy-holy. But, I was attracted to the story's unusual twist. So, I bought the material, and first brought it to Star Cinema.

Title role
"The studio was very interested in the script, but we couldn't decide on the actress who would play the script's challenging title role.

"Since she was a Magdalene, she had to be sexy--but, she also had to be much more than that.

"I was shown many sexy actresses, some of them name stars, but I couldn't find my Santa-Santita. I felt that the role should go to someone relatively new, who had no fixed image, so that there would be no expectations.

"But, we couldn't agree on who that actress would be, so we couldn't get to the shooting stage.

"There were also disagreements over the right approach to the material. Well, there's always resistance to doing a religious film--yes, even after the success of 'Tanging Yaman.'

Resistance
"In this case, there was even more resistance because, in the original script, the young woman receives the stigmata. I wanted to approach that head-on (unlike in similar movies, where it just became a circumstance).

"I decided she really had a conversion. But, in the Catholic Church, there are criteria for authentic miracles. So, to clarify that, I wanted to add a church connection, in the person of a priest--who, ironically, had problems of his own.

"The tie-up that began to emerge as I kept thinking about the script, reacting to it and adjusting it, was that the troubled priest's experience with her would change him!" (To be concluded)

LAURICE Guillen continues to talk about her new film, "Santa-Santita," which she's currently shooting:

"Due to the impasse regarding the choice of lead actress, we decided to put off shooting the project for Star Cinema. But, it continued to gestate. Next, Tony Gloria's Unitel came into the picture. But we continued to have problems with casting.

"All told, I auditioned more than 30 actresses for the movie's title role. Tony was partial to casting an older actress, but I like the idea of a young girl who was really maldita.

"People kept sending me photos of sexy starlets, and I kept turning them down. There is a sexy scene in the script, but what about when the character became good? I needed an actress above all else.

"So, after a very long search, we chose Angelica Panganiban as our santa-santita-and we're very happy with our decision.

How is the shooting phase coming along? "Despite the rains and rescheduling problems, we're very pleased with what we've shot. I've always been challenged by the script's material, but it's difficult to tackle because it's about faith. I can't make mistakes in interpretation.

"The script's major characters are the girl, Malen; the "devilish" young man played by Jericho Rosales, and the troubled priest, portrayed by Johnny Delgado.

"All the elements are here. We're making no compromises. Unitel is giving us full support, and complete autonomy.

"Our film has a good playdate this November. It's already been invited to Pusan and other festivals. So, everything is looking up.

"We just want to point out, however, that 'Santa-Santita' is not just a religious film. We're dealing with sinners, whose are found in the gospels.

"Personally, I am especially excited about this film. Gusto ko na siyang makita! Before, it was hypothetical, all in my head. But now, we only have a few days of shooting left, so our long wait is about to end.

"Jericho's character is also particularly interesting and challenging here. He becomes the antithesis to the Santa, the nemesis. But, in the end, he's arrested. He's a portrait of the devil as seducer!

"As for Angelica, she's very good as the maldita. As the santa, the part of the character with deeper and more complex scenes, I guide her."

What does the director want viewers to "get" from watching "Santa-Santita"? "More enlightenment while they are being entertained. Greater consciousness about God's word. That the Church is a community of sinners who are trying to be saints!

"If Jesus Christ died for us because he loves all of us, so too should we love and have compassion for each other. It's always a struggle, but the point is, you struggle!"

Let's all make it a point to watch "Santa-Santita when it opens this November!

Wow...2day was so cool, i got 2 c Echo and Tin again...While Echo was singing I was able to shake his hand and he also looked & smiled at me...nakakakilig!! wow!! but i was mad becoz they only let them stay 15min for signing autographs, that's not enough time, glad I got mine @ the airport already...
