NBL rules stipulate that a team's total player salaries must not exceed P300,000 per month. It is up to the team how they will divide the amount among their 12 to 15 players as long as the total does not go over P300,000. Therefore, there is no limit to how large a salary may be but realistically speaking, the average pay hovers around the P15,000 mark. But with the economic crunch these days, the teams do not avail of the maximum limit in fact the game now is how to assemble the cheapest payroll possible.

The length of the players' deals vary according to the team. Some players are under contract for the current tournament only while some are lucky to have a contract until the end of the year. These agreements may be extended depending on the progress of the league.

More NCAA alums are signing up with NBL teams. The last two days saw Air Philippines-Bacolod sign up former Mapua Cardinal Randy Alcantara and ex-San Sebastian Stag Jerome Barbosa. Meanwhile, M. Lhuillier Kwarta-Padala signed another former Mapua Cardinal in Ruben de la Rosa. They will make their debuts in their teams' next games.
