Just curious, how is the MS IT program in AITI (yung sa Salcedo old Ateneo Law)? Madali bang makapasok? I have pals who are curious in getting into the MS program however they have ZERO programming experience - as in hindi IT related yung kurso nila. I heard they offer special courses as transition for those who want to enter the MS IT program.

If you teach in AITI, or took MS there, or if you were a non-MIS/non-CS/CE grad in college who took courses there, I would love to hear your feedback about the institution.

Thanks. :)

i dont know if madaling makapasok ngayon. You just review for
abstract reasoning, english, algebra, synonymns, and some logic formulation like flow charts.
You dont need to be a bs CS in college to enter here although they would require you to take some programming subjects

there is also an MS IT in DLSU Taft and RCBC campus. All I know is that they teach C/C++ in lasalle's MS IT as their main language while in Ateneo they teach in Java as the medium of programming language and not C.

Also the main subjects of ateneo's MSIT is more of theoretical like the data structures, comp. org., etc
but the electives are very cool!!!

Also there are extra electives in Oracle 9i, Multimedia (Flash, Authorware, Photoshop, and Premiere), Visual Basic, Linux, E-Commerce, Windows NT

Yun nga lang mahirap talaga ang masteral thesis here in ateneo but the main subjects are average naman

go to www.admu.edu.ph and look for ateneo professional schools. then go to the www.aiti link which is the website

Thank you, Archimedes.

Are you a faculty member there or an MS student? CS/MIS grad ka ba ng AdMU QC? I saw the website already. Yung problema sa website it's all from their viewpoint - I am asking for the insider's opinion on AITI (comparative facts, personal experiences, etc.) coz I am also considering taking up some courses there coz I have this knack toward learning programming.

I already have a copy of their special course listing for the year. If ever I plan to do an MS IT there (malapit kasi sa bahay ko eh), balak ko magsimula sa ABC's of flowcharting, them take the 3 modules of Java, then 2 courses in C++, coupled by 2 courses in systems analysis and design. Pinagbasehan ko yung course units sa CS/MIS undergrad ng Ateneo. They have a total of eight major 3-unit subjects (8 x 3 = 24 units total). Each 3-unit course carries 51 hours roughly per sem, so 51 hours x 8 subjects = 408 hours of major subject course work. Do you think this is sufficient preparation for the MS program?

Another thing - I am self-employed. Will they be biased toward accepting office workers, as in corporate employees for the MS program rather than self-employed people? I just heard some gossip from my batchmates that it sounds more palatable on the resume to have some working experience for a established private firm since the big name gives the HRD/admissions committee scrutinizers a good idea of what working environment you have been exposed to. May I verify this? Just curious coz it's gonna be quite a transition from working in a family business then taking up MS in a field where you have no CS/MIS undergrad units, although Ateneo graduate ako - BS Biology then MS Information Technology....sana (ang layo!)

I appreciate your enlightenment. :D

Well regarding your BS Biology program, I am also not from an IT background in college. It's ok lang even if you dont have any background on IT. A lot of students in MSIT also have no background in IT in college. They just shifted courses.

Anyway bakit ang dami mong kukunin na special courses. You dont need those. Once na nagenroll ka sila na magsasabi kung ano ang kailangan mo. It's a waste of time studying C/C++ coz Java ang gamit sa MS IT program. naluluma na ang C in the IT world. Java is the future

Self-employed> ok lang yan yung iba nga full time students with no IT background and may family business din

Insider information> well the first trimester is really boring kasi very basic. You are allowed to take a maximum of 12 units per trimester. So you can also partake in your business part time since evening lang ang classes.

listen to some students who could give you some information on which teacher is competent and industriuos coz in my experience most teachers are masipag magturo but if you fall to a teacher who is lazy and is late in class and early dismissal pa then talo ka kasi konti lang matututunan mo.

Also, IT projects are medyo hard kasi combination of programming
