View Full Version : Ano ang UP, Ateneo and La Salle sa tingin ng isang high school

Hello sa inyo...

I am a high school student (4th yr na no!) from a science high school (secret na kung ano.... eheheh)...

The competition between UP, Ateneo and La Salle are basically the same with the competition among the most popular science high schools in the country - Manila and Philippine Science High School.... The main difference between the two is that PSHS is under the Dept of Sci & Tech, and MSHS is under DepEd...

O cge, I am from MaSci. Fine. Hehehe.

We are very grateful kasi at least we are given priority by De La Salle University.

Buhay... Buhay...

Kahit ang mga students from Pisay and Masci na pumasa sa Freshman Merit ng Ateneo or Star Scholar ng Ateneo at cyempre ang Oblation Scholars ng UP, they still opt to choose UP kahit na indi ganon kaganda *** scholarship given by UP.

UP is FAR BETTER than Ateneo or La Salle... ***** in some fields, *** isa sa mga schools na to ay natatalo ang UP, pero sa tingin ko, UP pa rin is still d best.

(Bakit ba up lagi sinasabi ko e Ateneo naman ako mag-aaral?! Hehehe... :D )

I'm not in a position to comment as to what DLSU or UP has to offer, but should you finally decide to study at the Ateneo, this I guarantee: you will be immersed in an environment where both the spirit and the mind, fides et ratio are carefully developed, nurtured and molded.

In behalf of all the other Ateneans here, I welcome you to an exciting 4-year college life in Katipunan Avenue. :)

Forget about masci-pisay rivalry. medyo OA kasi eh. maybe you'll understand when you get to college.

anyway, most Mascians really prefer UP not only because it is the best University but because of financial reasons. Sa batch namin most of us cannot afford La Salle's tuition (P30,000 per trimester?) although some of us wanted to study there because it's more convenient and safer. Yung mga nag-ateneo sa amin, most of them scholars. less than ten lang yata. In short, we chose UP NOT because we thought that ADMU and DLSU are not at par with UP.

aww.. thanks! eheheh. well... UP naman talaga is better than Ateneo or La Salle. Hehehe... kahit indi ako mag-u-up, masasabi ko 'to.. la lang...

Sa Ateneo, at average is 40Thou. Sa UP? at most 8-10THOU. ehehe :D

You've answered your question. Indeed, the Ateneo provides the training it deems necessary in order to inculcate into the minds of its students the ideals of the University's three characteristics: Filipino, Catholic, and Jesuit.

But in the end, it still the student who decides which path to take. Remember, the Ateneo is a school, and not a factory of passive robots.

Just as I accept the veracity of your observed facts, I also would like to point out that among the alumni/alumnae of the Ateneo were young men and women who selflessly gave up their lives in the service of their countrymen.

I agree with Lek-Lek’s foolish remark about ateneans selflessly serving the country . Just look how ateneans have destroyed our country with their innate stupidity, impotent governance, and greed for money. Take for example: Mark Jimenez and Nani Perez, and lots more, I just gave the most recent example.

So jepwi if you want to be associated with these big time thugs in uniform then study at ateneo. The country's most prestigious university for those who are KSP, OA, stupid, insecure, and aspires to be part of the county's demolition team.

Ateneans don't bring anything good to our country. They only bring shame and bad news.

Think about it and don't mind the overtly hallucinating post by the ateneans who replied in this thread. You cannot even consider what they are doing as convincing marketing.

Set aside your perceptions about the aesthetic look of the campus and other trivialities. Get the facts and not the fiction that surrounds the university.

If its science you are pursuing study at DLSU or UP because the only science that ateneo offers is stupidity.

Nothing in what I said implies that every Atenean has seflessly died for the country or anything to that effect. In fact, I explicitly acknowledged the truth of jepwi's observations. There are indeed Ateneo graduates who never displayed the ideals of our Alma Mater. Yet that reality should and must never conceal the bravery and nationalism of the likes of Rizal and Lacaba. Not to mention Bro. Richie Fernando, SJ, who himself went beyond the issues of race and nationality when he jumped on a hand grenade to save the lives of his Cambodian students. People like them continuously remind us Ateneans that idealism is very much alive in the Ateneo.

Thank you for calling my remark foolish. At least, what I said didn't go unnoticed.

Calling all graduating high school seniors esp to jepwi

If I were you, better study in La Salle, you can find the best education you truly deserved like what my idol FRIEDBLUEEAGLE got when he was still a student in La Salle.

Just ask him, and you'll know everything about La Salle. For me, he was "the perfect La Sallian" I knew ever since.

In La Salle, you can't find "stupid and pathetic students " .

kaya jepwi believe my idol . the perfect example.

I do not know if you have dyslexia, or if you have very poor comprehension skills, or if you are simply stupid.

Did I say something that implies dying for the country or something to that effect?

And I would greatly appreciate your reply if you add/edit something to your post, like for example:

“ Most Ateneo graduates never displayed the ideals of our Alma Mater. “ Or something to that effect simply because that is the hard truth.

As for your examples of “very few” ateneans who displayed idealism, nationalism, and bravery. Well Rizal (although he is more of a Thomasian than an atenean to me) is not really a hero but in fact a coward who hides behind his pen and paper, real hero are made up not only by words but also by action, take Bonifacio for example. I wonder why did the Americans choose him to be our national hero? I smell something elitist here, but disregard what I’ve said since that is best discussed in a history class. As for the priest (take note a priest not an ateneo student), well that is one sick display of stupidity, imagine dying for some students when if he lives he can teach more students. And did his death do anything good for our country in general. Well there is a big difference between having high ideals for the greater good of the country/humanity and being plainly stupid.

As for criticguy, I believe that Jepwi will appreciate your reply better if you remove the stupid sarcasm in it. Your post simply reflects your stupid self. And how many times do I have to repeat saying that I’m not a La Sallian.

Anyway Jepwi, please remember that the “Perfect La Sallian” is no match to a Mark Jimenez or to a Nani Perez. I hope you can read beyond the lines my friend.

heeey....

to tell you frankly, I have been a student of Ateneo Grade School (Grade 1 & Grade 2) and De La Salle Zobel (Grade 3 onwards until Grade -)... So, naranasan kong maging Atenista at Lasalista....

At first, nung ***** mga 3rd yr HS ako, (which is a year ago) I used to tell my classmates na mag La Salle ako... From the start, DLSU is my first choice. Why? Maybe because I was influenced by the people around me. Hmmm... We're all Lasallians by heart.. (lol! :D) We all came from La Salle schools. Ewan ko, ***** un *** malapit! Ehehe...

My cousin, a dlsu alumnus, 27 yrs old, a graduate of ME, is now the General Manager of the Steam and Power Generation Department of a company. I was impressed... Why?

Bakit? Hmmmm.. Another inspiring story. Maybe the last one... Ehehe. My uncle's big boss is 28 years old. 40 na ata *** uncle ko. That 'big boss' is a graduate of La Salle Greenhills (Elem/HS) and a graduate of Management Economics from the Ateneo. He entered Nestle Philippines after he graduated. Sabi nya maybe because of the school.... Sa tingin ko oo, why? Because Management Eco is one of those 'elite' or 'honors' program at Ateneo.

*** lang, SCHOOL does matter.

Well, I am trying to ask help from you guys... Wag naman 'debate' ehehe. I would like to know what your university HAS to offer. (UST is stripped out because indi ko gusto don...)

I have a story here...

In the early morning of 30Dec.1896, Rizal walked to his place of execution, flanked by two Jesuits, Fr.José Vilaclara, one of his professors, and Fr. Estanislao March, whom he had known in his student days. He marched briskly, with calmness and dignity. Passing by the Ateneo, he turned his face to it several times. Upon reaching Bagumbayan, he looked back again, and seeing the towers of San Ignacio Church, he asked the Jesuits:

"Is that the Ateneo?"

"Yes," they replied.

And he added: "Well, I spent seven years there. "Then addressing his lawyer, Don Luis Taviel de Andrade, who walked on side of Fr. March, he said: "Everything that the Jesuits taught me was good and holy..."

I think it's your responsibility (more) to know what each school has to offer since ikaw naman ang nag-apply. You cannot get accurate or fair answers from this forum. Hijo, I hope you have deeper reasons for choosing a school aside from your successful relatives. Success comes in different forms aside from wealth and position. Ano bang course ang kinuha mo? A little research won't hurt.....

Yes, I do have other reasons aside from my successful relatives and friends..... They are just inspirational stories... Not exactly the reasons para piliin ko *** schools na 'yon...

Yes, research will do, pero ***** u will have an idea nung environment nung school DURING your entrance test....

Yup I agree.

Don't believe what people here say specially what those good for nothing ateneans say.

And yes do conduct a research and set trivialities aside.

Don't forget to check the source of the information you are getting, check and verify if they are credible or not.

Most ateneans in this forum specially super fools like archer_nemesis and criticguy tends to cut and paste if not post a hyperlink to moronic articles from mark jimenez like sources in order to fool innocent HS studs like you. If only the search function is working you can verify what I've said. These fools know that they cannot give reliable and trustworthy evidences and proofs why their university is the best that they rely on nonsensical websites with no credibility at all and they believe immediately what those websites states thus making a fool out of themselves.

That story, specially the quote, is simply outdated, hilarious, and insane. Rizal must be eating those words right now. I bet he is deeply thinking whether studying at ateneo is really something to be proud of specially if he lives today in the present and meet fellow alumni like Mark Jimenez for example.

If only UP and DLSU existed during those times Rizal would have absolutely opted for those two better schools. But ateneo just got lucky because UP and DLSU, the two much better academic institutions, was not around during those time and because he was more concerned of him being an elitist the only choice for him is the only elitist school during that time, ateneo.

Well, Rizal DID undergo a time of disillusionment with the Ateneo.

As the 1959 Aegis puts it:

.... But he was stubborn. He had made his decision; he would stick to it. Yes, long ago, he believed, but that was when he was a young man; now his mind was hardened. Can Faith stand to the cold test of Reason? Rizal, at that time, did not think so.

Perhaps it was in a moment of uncontrollable exasperation that Father Faura spoke sharply and bitterly to his visitor. If he was so obstinate in his heresy, said the Jesuit, he should leave the premises and never return to the Ateneo. They were bitter words which Father Faura must have regretted as soon as they were spoken. But Rizal heard them in silence, an stiffly took his leave.

As he passed through the lobby, the lay brother who was porter called him.

"Do you remember this?" the brother asked.

Rizal took the wooden object from the brother's hands. He stared at it for a long time, in stony silence. Yes, he remembered it. His own hands carved it when he was a student of the Ateneo. It was a small statue of the Sacred Heart, crude in some parts especially the face, but still betraying the devotion of the fingers--and the Faith of the student--that had worked on it. He handed it back.

"Other days, Brother," he said, "other days that are gone forever. I don't believe in these things anymore."

And he left, and was gone...

Aegis then recounted a scene wherein Rizal went into a debate with the Jesuits who came to visit him in prison. After that, Rizal then went back to his Faith, wrote his retraction, confessed, and later on, got married. After that, he was led to his execution.

Then Rizal was led out into the beautiful morning, completely at peace, and marhed towards Bagumbayan Fields outside the city walls. At one place, seeing the towers that rose above the city, asked, "Is that the Ateneo?"

"Yes."

"I spent seven years there."

Our national hero was clearly an Atenean and a true Christian--someone unafraid of contesting his faith in order to delve into it much more. And after he had made his peace, he died, for God and for country, a man-for-others, a bright light in the Lord.

A real Christian? The only true Christian I know is the one who started it all, the Christian himself, Christ. I bet when Rizal met San Pedro in heaven San Pedro asked him to sing "caliFORNICATION".

It seems like your inutil de bobo con stupido self is the only one who is monopolizing the limelight.

Okay? Let's forget about the distant past. But how about the recent past and present? See list below.

________Beginning of Quote______________

THE ATENEO: A TRADITION OF UNSURPASSED EXCELLENCE.

ATENEANS RULE !!! THAT'S THE GENERAL RULE !!!

But we can't do it all by ourselves. Leaders also need followers. We need to enlist the help of everyone, even the lesser institutions and individuals of the green variety. Everyone counts in the nation-building process. Stand up and be counted!

Indeed, Ateneans are a powerful force to reckon with in Philippine politics and economy.

I guess Ateneo has mastered the formula for producing success.

Success = Intelligence + Economic Power + Political Clout + Intangibles

Some schools focus on one or two of the above factors.

For example, DLSU has some semblance of economic power but not much of political clout and intelligence.

UP has intelligence and some political clout but not much of economic power.

Only the Ateneo is in the enviable position of possessing all three -- intelligence, economic power, and political clout.

Last but not least, Ateneans have the "intangibles" -- the belief in their "Lux in Domino" role in the world. Ateneans are Magis. It is this quality that enables mere mortals to transcend their limitations. It is this quality that pushes the ordinary success to the realm of extraordinary, which is so common amongst Ateneans.

THE ATENEAN TRADITION OF SERVICE AND EXCELLENCE LIVES ON..........

Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow.......Forever

WE ARE THE WORLD!!!!!

Hey archie_tuberculosis you forgot to paste your alleged blue eagle picture of an American bald "black" eagle in that lengthy post of yours!

Don't tell me that you are so stupid that you cannot figure if its really black or blue that you went insane and because of your incompetence you just decided to remove that picture. And where the hell is Mark Jimenez?

And by the way archie, do you think its too early to lie this year? Why not revise your post to something like this:

THE ATENEO: A TRADITION OF UNSURPASSED STUPIDITY.

ATENEANS ARE STUPID !!! THAT'S THE GENERAL RULE !!!

Mas SWAK di ba?

hahaha, fried blue eagle, come on.

puro mark* jimenez na lang sinasabi mo! ehehe... come to think of it, basahin mo *** pinost before your recent one.... INDI LANG NAMAN si JIMENEZ ang alumnus ng Ateneo de Manila no. haaalooos lahat nga ng cabinet secretaries, presidents, and ofcourse heroes of the philippines e galing sa Ateneo. ***** may mga nabibilang na ****... pero indi lahat....

Compare a Lasallian's attitude sa isang Atenean.... ;) I experienced HOW to be both... heehhe... I really regret transferring to De La Salle Zobel.

I'd rather stay in Loyola Heights rather than in Ayala Alabang....

COME ON, wala bang ****** lasalista? Hehehe... c Raymart lasalista diba? Wala lang!

(I'm not in favor sa Ateneo o sa La Salle, but I think, mali namang sabihin mong STUPIDO ang mga atenista..... Have a glance sa list ng mga SUCCESSFUL ATENEAN LEADERS.. SUCCESSFUL ha, indi ****.)

PEACE! :D

Hahahahaha kid! You make me laugh with your innocence! Anyway I will let it go since you are just a HS stud and its not my forte to stoop down your level. Just tell me if you choose to be an atenean so we can start our business ok?

Anyway I'm sure all the taeneans, specially the super fool archer_nemesis, will like your post. They will consder it a treasure for they have a new ally. Don't be sarcastic with your last remark its beyond obvious that you are pro-admu.

As for your perception of those universities based from your HS experience, I'm telling you as early as now that HS and College life are very different! And like what I've said before set the triviliaties aside you don't want to sound like archer_nemesis right?

Anyway who is Mike Jimenez?

Why are you laughing? Don't you know that Perpetual is even a better school than the overrated duh ateneo?

And did you ever wonder why our country is deep down below the gutter in all aspects may it be economic, political, athletics, showbiz, etc.?
Ever wonder why our country don't achieve anything more than winning billiard tournaments?
Ever wonder why there are so many people dying from hunger, poverty, and strife?
Ever wonder why graft and corruption is so rampant among government officials?

Wonder anymore just check archer_nemesis lengthy post and see for yourself why our country is deep down below the gutter like ateneo's overall standing in the UAAP.

The Philippines is a perfect example of a country ruined by corrupt impotent fools running a government. And if you wonder who are those I’m referring to try checking archer_nemesis post again.

Yup those people are successful. They are successful in getting rich and of course in ruining the country. If that is what you consider successful, then wonder no more study at that vile place found along the polluted Katipunan avenue, the one that looks like a chicken stable and an asylum for mentally deranged people.

And if you wonder why Katipunan avenue is so polluted, don’t point blankly blame the huge gargantuan volume of cars passing by that place, also blame the fact that ateneans are so sweaty and stinky when ever they go out after class that they spread some pungent indescribable body odor all over the area. Just try getting close to Enrico Villanueva and see what I mean. Try putting them in an air-conditioned room tignan mo kung di sisipunin tong mga atenistang to! Palibhasa di sanay!

And lastly, I DO AGREE WITH ARCHER_NEMESIS! I know its kinda shocking but its TRUE. I agree with him when he said:

"THE WORLD IS GETTING BLUER AND BLUER".

Yup the world, specially the Philippines is getting bluer and bluer.

No wonder we are deep down in the gutter.
No wonder why the Philippines is a desperate and a destitute place to live.

Although the next line to his post in reference to what I’ve quoted is really sickening stupid.
Only an atenean will say something masochistically stupid such as living in a desperate and destitute (BLUE) country as something beautiful.

The Philippines will always be BLUE unless it moves to a GREENER PASTURE.

Sorry, but I'm not disillusioned.

Illusions? Read: M-C-O.

Since we're all talking about alumni, let's look at Danding Cojuangco, certified Erap crony, and Bro. Andrew Gonzales, who needed so much comfort in his noble effort to uplift education that went on an Expedition.

How did I became insecure basing from that reply? It seems like you are the one who really needs to do his homework first. Why not start with the most recent most perfect atenean Mark Jimenez then work yourself down the ladder.

San mo gusto sa the Buzz?
