While UP is benchmarking those leading national universities in Asia such as the University of Tokyo, Seoul National University, National University of Singapore, University of Hong Kong and the likes, De La Salle University is benchmarking the famous, University of the Philippines in its bold bid to equal the later, if not to surpass in the ranking of the best universities league.
And, what about Ateneo? They’re benchmarking De La Salle University for its irresolute bid to be the top university in the country. Mali!:D

Here are the true facts/proofs

about... Ateneo de Manila University in Manila, the Philippines
Founded in 1865 by Spanish Jesuits, the Ateneo shifted to an English-language, American curriculum in 1921 when Jesuits of the New York Province assumed responsibility for the administration of what was then a small, elite undergraduate institution. Since 1946, Filipino Jesuits have run the university which currently has 4,000 students on its groomed, cloistered Loyola Heights campus on a ridge overlooking the Marikina Valley.
For several generations, it has been the country's leading institution for undergraduate education.
Over 70% of its classes are taught in English, allowing foreign students ready access to its curriculum. Ateneo has recently launched a sustained program of institutional development--doubling the size of the library, constructing a new social research complex, wiring the campus with fiber optic cables for email and the internet, and expanding the size of its student population.

Ateneo de Manila University.
Headed by Jesuits, this university provides the Philippine youth with the best college education possible in the Philippines today.
Ateneo is the number one ranked University in the Philippines

Ateneo de Manila University
"Ateneo, one of the Philippine's oldest and most acclaimed universities, is known for its law and media programs."
Ateneo De Manila Law School Achieves 91.84% Overall Percentage Of Passing In 2000 Bar Examinations
The ATENEO DE MANILA LAW SCHOOL garnered third (3rd) and ninth (9th) places in the 2000 Bar Examinations. The more important statistics that show the Law School to be the premier law school in the country today is the maintenance of high overall percentage of passing for its bar candidates, thus:
Total Overall %
Number Passed Passing of Passing
New Candidates 84 79 94.05
Repeaters 14 11 78.57 91.84%
The 2000 Bar Exams figures are outstanding not only when compared to the national average of 20.84%, but moreso when compared to the nearest rival in overall passing percentage, San Beda College, with an overall percentage passing of 85.71%. University of Perpetual Help-Rizal achieved an overall passing percentage of 80%; while the University of the Philippines, achieved only a 73.44% overall passing percentage.
For each of the past ten (10) years, the ATENEO DE MANILA LAW SCHOOL has garnered top-ten placers each year (with Number 1 placings in four (4) years: 1991, 1992, 1993, and 1999) and has maintained the highest percentage of passing for its graduates at 86.35% (1991-84.55%; 1992-77.10%; 1993-84.29%; 1994-89.08%; 1995-86.72%; 1996-95.52%; 1997-79.84%; 1998-88.44%; 1999-86.07%; 2000-91.84%), against the national average of 20.41%.
When ATENEO DE MANILA LAW SCHOOL's average passing percentage is compared with that of its nearest rival (San Beda Law School) of 67.33% (1990-1999), and considering that its graduates over the past ten years have had to take the Bar Examinations only after earning a J.D. degree, where much of the time spent by studentds of other law school was to concentrate on review courses, compared with 240 hours of apprenticeship and the thesis preparation and defenses that Ateneo students have to undergo, then ATENEO DE MANILA LAW SCHOOL's achievements are quite phenomenal. It may interest many to know that in terms of percentage of successful passing of the candidates for the Bar Examinations, Ateneo's nearest rival has consistently been San Beda Law School, and not the UP Law School, which has averaged only 64% (1990-1999) over the last ten years.
Fly high Ateneo Legal Eagle!"
Here are the stats for the 2001 Bar Examinations :
Ateneo Law School:
Overall Passing Percentage--97.27%
New Candidates--97.14%
Repeaters--100%
University of the Philippines
Overall Passing Percentage--88.07%
New Candidates--97.70%
Repeaters--50%
San Beda College
Overall Passing Percentage--92.06%
New Candidates--94.64%
Repeaters--71.43%
Ateneo once again has the highest overall passing rate.
PEACE

well.. this has always been my standpoint.. ateneo has always been regarded more prestigious than dlsu in most cases i've encountered but... in my opinion.. ateneo can't be the best university because they don't have enough courses to back that up. The fact is they are just lacking a lot. Probably they are good in liberal arts and law.. but they don't have Accountancy nor most Engineering courses that DLSU offer.
I think it has always been a conception that ateneo is better but it is not even comparable in most areas that is important and especially in courses that most people take in college.
I still go for my alma mater.. Animo La Salle.

The mere existence of this thread is proof that the Ateneo can in fact be the best university in the Philippines.
Think about it!

Hhhmmm....hindi eh. La Salle o UST pa kasi mas totoo silang universities eh...may accounting, may engineering, medicine...'yung mga tipong courses na kailangan ng Pinas. :)
