Hey guys! I'm delivering a persuasive speech on this topic on Dec 10. I'm only in second year high school so I don't have a personal experience on this yet. Maybe you guys can help me come up with arguments on either side. It's an extemporaneous (did i spell that right?) speech. 5 mins before the speech I have to draw whether I will deliver a speech persuading people that college entrance exams could measure a person's competence in college or if it doesn't. So peeps, I need arguments from both sides. If you guys can also help me find references about the propositions (like essays on it or something), that would REALLY help me out!! THANK YOU!! :)

You passed the entrance exam of DLSU and you are in DLSU?
Are you sure you are not Enrico Villanueva who did not passed the ACET but was admitted in Ateneo anyway (despite his obviously DUMB stature) because they needed a star wrestler?

i dont think so.. some students were not doing fairly good back in high school pero they're performing extremely well in college..
since yung mga tanong sa entrance examinations eh lessons about high school, pag di ka nag-aaral sa high school malamang di ka makakapasa sa good universities, lalo na yung may mahihirap na entrance exams.. kaya i dont think entrance exams measure a person's competence in college.. :)

Probably not. With the UPCAT, you'd think all froshies at UP-diliman are competent. But UP-Diliman still has the worst attrition rate in the country.

If you failed in the college entrance exam, can you still be admitted to the school if your grades in high school are good?
What IS the reason there are such things as college entrance exams if they don't measure a someone's competence in college?
By the way, please state the reason for your answers.

I did not pass the entrance exam but I gambled to reconsider for another course and I was accepted.
