Journalism or Creative writing?

So which is better? What offers a better "future"? Pros and cons of each... What university? Is a major in english better? Or could you suggest another course ... Anything you guys can say would be a big help... Thanks. :)

if u want to write all u have to do is 'experience' life. do something different, jump of a cliff, take a bath at pasig river.. i mean do something that is worthy to write upon. learning the techniques will only get u so far... but u need to experience and understand life in order to write about it....

I think mas okay ang Journalism, mas madaming career options. Pero depende naman kse sa passions mo yun e ;)

bratprincess is right, if you have the passion for writing, kahit pa medicine ang course mo, you'd still be able to write effectively.

i don't wanna discourage you or something, but taking up journalism or creative writing just because it'll give you a better future is nothing but a bull! there are a lot of wanna-bes nowadays and we only have a few publications around... :( that's the sad reality of life...

don't get me wrong, i'm not trying to dictate to you what you're suppose to do with your life... but you see, i teach in college... mass comm to be more specific... and with the stiff competition in the industry plus the number of students taking up mass comm.... only a few end up in the field that they wanted. others have been settling for jobs in other fields.... kahit totally hindi related sa course nila...

but if you're really into writing, then analyze what your strength is... are you more inclined to living a fast-paced life, always on the go searching for stories that would interest other people, yet, maintaining an unbiased treatment?

or are you more comfortable writing essays, stories, novels, poems, and other prose?

if ur the 1st one, take up journ... if ur the 2nd, take up cw.
