how do you "groom" your bikini area? shaving? waxing? depilatories?

i shave but i find it too taxing and hair re-growth happens really fast.

I agree! And if you keep having it waxed, you get used to it and it doesn't seem so painful anymore. And you'll love the results. Plus no itchy feeling when it grows back.

pardon my ignorance, but are you supposed to be buck naked (at least from the waist down) when you have your bikini area waxed?

and on a scale of 1-10, how painful is it, really? also, tips on where to have the waxing done?

i'm not sure about other salons but from where i have mine done, yes you do have to be completely naked from waist down. i know the idea seems a little....okay, a lot embarrassing knowing you'll be in a room with a woman you hardly even know -- naked! not to mention the even more embarrassing positions she'll ask you to do! (dun sa mga nagpapa-wax, i guess you know what i mean guys!) pero like what Strawberri said, you'll get used to the pain and everything else.

on the ouch-scale, for me, siguro mga 6-7. i have a pretty high threshold for pain kasi. i get mine done at emphasis salon in rockwell. they go for P800. i want to try Clarins in rustan's kasi theirs is only P450, pero i'll make sure kung kasing neat rin ba tulad ng sa emphasis.

use nair. a hair removing lotion. just apply it like any lotion (but not too liberally), wait for 3-5 mins, then use a tissue to wipe it off and with it comes 99% of the hair.

it takes almost 2 weeks for hair to grow back.

damnbaby, how long before the hair grows and you have to have it rewaxed? P800 is a bit too pricey for my liking..but i suppose i could give it a try even once.

Is that Brazilian wax? As in tanggal lahat? Has anyone tried it?

Just curious... does Nair leave any itchy or stingy feeling? I've tried other hair removing lotions na kasi before and they're kinda strong, sometimes even causing slight rashes. Do you get these at the beginning too?

the hair will probably start growing in 2 weeks or so. i guess it depends talaga on your hair type. if you're the type na religious talaga about these things, once a month will do or maybe once in a month and a week. depende rin sayo. kasi you can maintain it yourself naman.
i know 800 bucks is pretty steep pero it's worth it naman. like what i've mentioned, maybe you'd want to try sa Clarins since they're about 50% cheaper than in emphasis. not sure how much other salons charge. yeah give it a try and tell us what you think!:D

i probably will try it but i'm a bit apprehensive about being naked from the waist down in front of a complete stranger...kind of how i felt when i first went to the gyno :D

Nagpapa-wax ako. At first sobrang sakit, pero now na medyo sanay na, nah, di ko na masyado napapansin yung sakit. One tip is to stretch yung skin mo pag hihilahin na yung wax. Sobrang mababawasan yung pain when you do that. Mga once a month ako nagpapa-wax.

I tried gumamit ng depilatory cream before. Ok lang sya kaya lang di ko masyado feel gumamit ng depilatory cream for such a sensitive area. Baka kasi magka-rashes or something, eh I have sensitive skin pa naman.

ako nga, i always wonder how she's able to carry on a decent conversation while waxing her clients! it's a very surreal experience talaga at first na when you're there na, di mo sure kung mag-vo-vomit ka or what sa hiya! saka di mo alam kung pano ka pu-pwesto! good luck!!

i can't find NAIR hair removing lotion anywhere. :( does sally hansen's have somethin for the bikini area?

from experience, Sally Hansen is a bit weak as a depilatory. i use it for my arms and legs, and sometimes, you have to do it twice to remove all the hair. nair is probably better.

i wax mine and i do it myself. during the first few times that i did it, the pain was unbearable that i only wax the bikini area literally but eventually, i got used to it so i waxed everything. :glee:

i do mine every 3 weeks.

And yes, tanggal lahat pag brazilian wax. :)

Yep, for me mahina nga na depilatory cream ang Sally Hansen

katie: Anong brand ng wax ang ginagamit mo? Saan nabibili?

o nga, sa'n nga ba nakakabili? ako rin, gusto ko do-it-myself na lang. nahihiya ako sa ibang tao eh.

pinkrose, misel, i use epillin. madami nun sa pcx or sa watson's. nasa box na kulay white and yellow. it's a wax in pan tapos i-melt mo na lang. i actually use it for all my 'hair removal' needs. it's really messy to use but once you get the feel of it, makakasanayan mo na din. try it, sa akin ok naman yung results. doesn't give you chicken skin or ingrown hairs. :)

i tried waxing myself once, and it was so painful i have yet to do it again, saka parang alangan di ko makita kung tama ba ginagawa ko. i wanted to get it done, but like most of you, nahihiya ako, and that's coming from a girl who's not usually shy about undressing in public. :glee:

for those who had theirs done in a salon, could you give us the details as to how they do the procedure, so i could brace myself when i muster up the courage to have it done? thanks much. :)

yeah i'm still mustering enough guts to have my bikini area waxed by someone else! P450 ain't bad..esp. at Clarins - i expected it to be more expensive actually. share niyo naman the procedures.....

Saan ba yung Clarins? For P450, Brazilian bikini wax ba ginagawa nila? Then I take off my underwear and the lady proceeds to trim the area para mas madali i-wax. After trimming, she applies wax sa different areas (depende sa cut na gusto ko), and I stretch the skin while she pulls para hindi masakit. When I'm satisfied na sa wax ko, pinupunasan nya with a wet bimpo yung area na na-wax, and nagbibihis na uli ako. Yun na! Hindi nakakahiya kasi mabait naman yung nag-wawax. Trabaho nya yun eh, so she tries to make you feel comfortable naman :)

Clarins is in Rustan's Makati. actually ako din na-surprise when I saw that theirs only go for P450 pero yung di ko lang sure ay kung they ask you to be fully naked from waist down or they let you wear underwear. kasi if ganon, baka parang di ganoon ka-neat yung outcome. P800 nga at Emphasis...it is a bit steep pero satisfied naman ako sa gawa nila. :) happy waxing everyone!

oh ok, so that's not so bad naman pala eh. kasi i read in a mag before na if you get a brazillian wax they make you contort your body in positions unimaginable, but if it's still up to your liking, okay lang.

thanks. :)
