tostitos:
took how long before you experienced re-growth?
ok lang ba :shy: if i ask what clinic/derma/shop you went to?
and what area (of the body)?
i have read some articles...
and have been to a lot of dermatologists to ask about this
all of them gave me this statement:
no such thing as a "permanent" hair removal system (yet)
what they offered are permanent hair reduction "treatments," which when availed of continously, may lead to near zero growth
(consider also the fact that as we grow older, there is really reduction in the hair follicles)
so far, the most expensive is that of facial care center (40k package for the axilla). they also claim removal is "permanent."
least expensive is let's face it. 2.5k/session for "permanent reduction." but it is a "supervisor" who does it and not a "dermatologist" (if you want a derma to administer, 3.5k)
sessions could go from 4-5 (depending on body's reaction, growth rate and other factors) before one could achieve near zero growth.
my derma charges around 3k.
less for succeeding treatments (area to be treated gets smaller)
(lesser if i could bring more people in):)

im also interested in this and i've been trying to find the best place to have it done. i also went to facial care center but it was soooooo expensive. on the other hand, i wouldn't dare go to let's face it.
if you want you can check out the Belo medical group ( cheaper than FCC). They have a newly opened laser center at makati med and they offer permanent laser removal. i think st luke's has their own laser center din, if im not mistaken.
let me know what you decide to do....ako din i'll update you!

Can you guys tell me naman how much it would cost for each session if I want treatment on my legs lang..considering na makapal yung hair and all that...and saang salon...Thanks!!:socool:

i tried the laser hair removal (for my underarms) at let's face it about a month ago - basically because it's much cheaper there and hindi naman sa face, so ok lang for me. the procedure lasted for about 15 minutes only and my skin didn't have any adverse reactions naman. the hair regrew after 3 weeks and mas maninipis sila, but i had no time to go back for another session kaya i plucked na lang. ngayon, a week after plucking, sobrang konti pa rin ng mga bagong tubo. maybe by jan i'll go back para mas konti na talaga yung hair. i'm hoping that by my third session, wala na talaga or kung meron man, unnoticeable na talaga yung hair.

If you really want to lessen the hair regrowth of your legs, or in bikini areas.. try first the cheapest one... that's a lotion.
I've been using Jergens Naturally Smooth Shave Minimizing Moisturizer. Of course with regular use, saka mo lang manonotice yung effect nya. But it is really effective. The hair is soft so you're sure na hindi parang christmas tree yung binti na shinave mo. And it will reallly lessen the hair regrowth of your legs. Pramis it really works. It's about PHP120+ . PhP 126-127 yata.
Yung permanent? hhmmm i'll try muna yung wax applications kasi mas mura yun eh. Anyway, pagtanda naman natin mawawala namang kusa yung unwanted hairs spec. sa underarm. :) Try to check this site (http://www.bloomingfields.net/care_bodynatur.shtml) for more info of their products. Di ko pa natry pero when i have time, i'll buy one.

My derma told me to use that one too! It has an herb daw that slows down the regrowth of hairs. But I haven't tried using it so I can't attest to its effectivity.
I got some feedbacks from another forum that it doesn't work daw.

issyll: the fine hairs growing aren't the ones treated by the laser, they're growing from the follicles that were dormant at the time of treatment (no hairs).
the treated follicles will stay hair-free for at least 6 months (that's their take on "permanent").
gals, if you want to save money, continuously shave the areas to be treated months before the treatment, then grow it back. the laser targets the dark pigmentation of the hair kasi, so the thicker/darker the hair is, the more effective the laser will be in targeting it. hope this helps.

effective ba talaga ito? like after 10 years permanent reduction pa rin? tsaka ano mas ok na laser, yung intense pulse light or yung lightsheer diode?

Sa Capitol Medical Center sa Quezon City, they use lightsheer diode laser. May promo sila ngayon na P3,500 for underarms and they also have a promo package na P21,000 for 6 sessions. Pero pagdating ng February, P4,000 per session na. Yung iba kasi IPL yata ang machine na ginagamit. I dunno kung ano mas effective.

I inquired at Belo Medical thru email and they were nice enough to give me the cost for this procedure. They said its P7500 per treatment, around 5-6 treatments, 3-4 weeks apart. Not bad, i guess.
Im planning to have mine done finally this xmas break. Looking back at my older posts, its funny that I've been planning to have this done a year ago pa. I guess its finally time to do it.
I'll let you guys how it went when Im done.

I'm having mine done at Skin Health. L&H treatment yung tawag dun sa gawa sakin. 3K per treatment, 1 month ang pagitan. I'm done with my first, and I'm already excited with my second treatment. My doctor told me I'd be needing only around 3 treatments. I'm very satisfied with the result, no more chicken skin.
The doctor told me before the treatment that there is no such thing as permanent removal. What they do is permanent reduction. And after my final treatment, there will still be some hair pero sobrang fine na and sobrang konti that you dont have to do anything. It will be that way na daw for years unless there will be new follicle developments. The doctor is assuring me of at least 3 years na ganito. Pero pag tumatanda daw yung tao, lesser hair follicles are developed.
I'm not sure if this is really 'true' but I'm taking my chances. :) Life is too short not to try what u really want.

Found this on the net:
Laser systems emit a gentle beam of light that passes through the skin to the hair follicle. The hair absorbs it, the energy from the laser is transformed into heat and the hair follicle is disabled.
Coolglide Technology
With CoolGlide's unique design, there is now the flexibility to treat all skin types. Before CoolGlide, tanned patients and persons with darker skin could not expect good results from laser treatment.
A CoolGlide device has a longer wavelength which allows it to treat all skin tones. While patients with fair skin still respond the best, medical studies indicated that patients with tanned or dark skin can now achieve hair reduction equal to fair skinned patients without undesireable side effects.
Other Permanent Hair Removal Laser Devices
With some laser equipment, an absolute requirement is that the hair must be darker than the surrounding skin. White skin with dark hair responds best. Persons with dark, coarse hair are the easiest to treat as dark hair contains melanin, a dark pigment which attracts the laser light so more laser energy is absorbed. Fewer sessions are needed.
Persons with light skin are the easiest to treat, requiring less sessions as the results are faster.
Persons with dark skin or sun tanned skin take longer to get results because melanin, the dark pigment in hair, is also present in skin. Melanin absorbs some of the laser light.
There is the danger of dark skin being burned in these instances so a laser beam with a lower energy level is used. For this reason also a higher level of expertise is required on the part of the clinic.
Is it safe? The laser uses a wavelength of light which passes through the skin. Unlike x-rays, there is no residual left in the body.
Skin may appear pink or red after treatment. This disappears - in some cases after some minutes, in other cases after a few hours, or in still other cases, a few days. Use of cold packs will speed up the recovery time.
Hair goes through cycles. Anagen refers to the growth stage of hair. Laser treatment works best on hair that is in the anagen stage. While one laser treatment may have long lasting effects, repeated treatments are necessary for best results to catch all the hairs as they enter the anagen stage.
After the first treatment hair will gradually fall out over the next two months. Repeated treatments are necessary to catch all the hairs in their various stages of growth.
Photo-Epilation or pulsed light devices use the same principle as lasers but they are not lasers. An intense pulsed light is used to disable hair follicles with minimal side effects.
It can be effective in permanent hair removal but requires a higher level of skill in operating as it is more difficult to adjust than lasers.
May Coolglide lasers na ba dito sa Pinas?

charmedprue, just done with my second session and i'm more satisfied than ever. the session this time was 'stronger'. (higher temp daw) and this time, i will be starting with the bleaching so ok din.
akosi, nagcanvass din ako sa let's face it. 2.8k per session dun ng underarms. if i were you, sa iba ka na lang kasi same price range lang tapos sa iba, doctor pa talaga yung gagawa. diba sa let's face it mga trained cosmetologist lang gumagawa ng lahat? opinion ko lang po yun...

I remember I posted about my laser hair removal session somewhere in this forum. It made my pit hairs thin and almost gone after 3 sessions--cause the derma told me it would only take me 3 sessions.
2-3 months passed, and the hairs grew back! I went to my Derma only to find out that it is a new discovery daw for asian's hair to grow back, kaya she advised me to proceed with the sessions.. Para bang I'll start ulit and I should have it laser-ed ulit, this time for 7 sessions (monthly intervals) and then after that, I'll need to go back for a booster shot every once in a while para daw sa maintenance.
I never went back. Feeling ko nabale wala kase yung nabayaran ko before since I am to start ulit. And now, my pit hairs are growing "normal"---just like before I had the treatment.
Laser Hair Removal is relatively new lang sa Phils, kaya its long term effect is still questionable. It is not a permanent solution to Unwanted Hair....more like, Temporary.

I bought one in Shopwise, Alabang. I noticed that my legs hair grow slowly unlike before. In 1 week without shaving, my legs hair grow 1 inch but now, with the use of Jergens lotion, less than 1/2 inch na lang in 1 week.

i had 2 treatments already sa fcc, i had my underarm treated, it costs 28k. decided to do it na rin kasi lifetime na siya and hassle pa magshave/pluck/wax. after my first treatment, after a month bumalik yung hair. after my 2nd treatment, which was 2 months after my first, sobrang konti nalang ng tumutubo, halos wala na nga e. i'm due for my next treatment next month. they guaranteed na permanent hair removal. ang kasama sa package 8 sessions, but when i asked what if may tumubo pa after my 8th session, will they still take it out kasi they guaranteed na permanent, sabi nila, pwede daw free yung 9th session just in case. they also said na mawawala yung pagka-chicken skin, but i don't see any changes about that yet, andun pa rin yung pagka-chicken skin niya, i'm just hoping na after i complete my sessions e mawawala talaga yun. hope i was able to help.
btw, when i inquired sa belo last oct 2003, it's only 5k per session. baka you can still ask for discount. it's 5k/session then free yung 6th-8th sessions.
i'm using the jergens product naman on my legs, but don't see any difference yet.. i've been using it for a month na..
