I only know a few of their songs so far but Out of My League is my favorite..for now..
it's her hair and her eyes today
that just simply takes me away
and the feeling that I'm fallin'
further in love makes me shiver
but in a good way...

"Out of my league" is nice. Somebody made me listen to it and guess what---I ended up playing it over and over again (well, at least for a while) on the mp3 player. The tune is that catchingly good. :) And I figure some peeps could probably relate to the lyrics as well.
To complete what Triglyceride posted, here's the whole thing:
Out of My League – Stephen Speaks
it's her hair and her eyes today
that just simply take me away
and the feeling that i'm falling further in love
makes me shiver but in a good way
all the times i have sat and stared
as she thoughtfully thumbs through her hair
and she purses her lips, bats her eyes as she plays,
with me sitting there slack-jawed and nothing to say
but i love her with all that i am
and my voice shakes along with my hands
cause i'm speechless to say what i'm feeling today
but i'm out of my league once again
it's a masterful melody when she calls out my name to me
as the world spins around her she laughs, rolls her eyes
and i feel like i'm falling but it's no surprise
that i love her with all that i am
and my voice shakes along with my hands
cause it's frightening to be swimming in this strange sea
but i'd rather be here than on land
and she's all that i see and she's all that i need
and i'm out of my league once again.

hi reena, we should get married with music already.. your all over the artists that I appreciate and enjoy! :D
I still haven't gotten the shock of my life yet (hearing Stephen Speaks on the radio), been listening to them since June I think.... didn't know they would make it into the collective consciousness of people here.
interesting...
anyways, they have a new album out, "No More Doubt" is the title I think.
try these songs from the old album:
what'll she look like
all these things
leaving song

on my way
cheers everyone. enjoy!

passenger seat
i look at her and have to smile as we go driving for a while
her hair blowing in the open window of my car
as we go, the traffic lights, i watch them glimmer in her eyes
in the darkness of the evening,
and i've got all that i need right here in the passenger seat
and i can't keep my eyes on the road knowing that she's inches from me
we stop to get something to drink my mind clouds and i can't think
scared to death to say i love her
then the moon peeks from the clouds i hear my heartbeat it's so loud
try to tell her simply
that i've got all that i need right here in the passenger seat
and i can't keep my eyes on the road knowing that she's inches from me

my top 3 faves are:
Out of My League
Passenger Seat
What'll She Look Like
also, Complete is growing on me. the new girl's voice is so haunting (pati sa What'll She Look Like). good choice to invite her to the band.
btw, I've been hearing Passenger Seat and Out of My League sa Philippine radio for the past few days. forgot to check what station the first time i heard it, but this morning i'm quite sure it's RT. out na ba sa pinas yung albums nila?

cute rin ng song na 'to. simple lang pero really nice. reminds of "your body is a wonderland" konti.
All These Things
maybe it's her face
no makeup at all
as she tells me she's not beautiful
maybe it's her hair
soft, golden and wind-blown
as we drive thru streets of town
it could be all these things
but i think it's her smile
maybe it's her laugh
or when she throws back in size (?)
or her eyebrows when i do something stupid
maybe it's her smell
the lotion she wears
or her how her hand smell like country pear for days
you know it could be all of these things
but i think mostly its her smile
coz i love to see her smile back at me
and i know she is happy
maybe it's her touch
the feel of her hand
when she puts her tiny fingers in mine
maybe it's her eyes
gently searching my soul
still nothing stirs me like when i see those lips roll and i see her smile
coz i love to see her smile back at me
and i know she is happy

One warm summers day (actually 52* and raining) I was sitting in my lazy boy (my roommates broken chair) and checking my email while drinking an exotic beverage (Sam's Cola). I expected the normal important emails I get… like "Make ten million dollars online for doing nothing," when I stumbled across a new thing - an email from the Philippines! This particular person emailed to comment on how much they liked
Passenger Seat, and I thought, "Wow… that's cool! I shipped a CD to someone from the Philippines a while back, that must have been them!" However the next day I got another one, and they said they heard it on the radio. I thought, "Radio? That must be a term for 'my friends CD player' over in the Philippines." Yet the next day a couple more came! Needless to say, I was very interested why they were hearing this song on the radio over in Asia. "Who is playing this neat trick on me," I though to myself. But after a little research, turns out it was no trick! That one CD I shipped to a guy named Eric in Philippines ended up getting on the radio there in Manila, the capitol. That just goes to show how every single fan is extremely important… especially since we're an independent band. The coolness doesn't stop there though.
The first station that picked it up was Magic 89.9 (there are now numerous other stations playing it). After two weeks on the charts, the song climbed to #1 and is going on it's third week at #1 (right above Mariah Carey and Christina Aguilerra). I still think it's a neat trick my brother is playing on me… but this week we've been contacted by numerous record labels in Manila, radio stations, and been offered numerous album liscencing deals. That means very soon the album will be released throughout all of the Philippines on the radio and in stores. We will be going on tour in Manila and Singapore in January. It's all happening much faster than I thought possible… it's amazing really. We've even has a request for a video to play on MTV-Asia, MYX, and Studio 23... the three largest video channels there. We will be shooting a video for Passenger Seat next week, and it will be released in the Philippines in January. The radio station responsible for starting all this is Magic 89.9. You can listen to the station live online, and see the top 30 chart with Passenger Seat sitting at #1. Go check it out!
We assume these events contribute at least a little to StephenSpeaks being back on the charts at Awarestore.com, where you can buy our CD (overseas has an additional shipping charge). Also, we've had 152,000 hits on our webpage in the last month, and is multiplying by about 20% daily. Now if only you folks would buy a CD instead of just downloading it, we wouldn't be living off ramen noodles. :)
It's funny how nothing seems to happen for months, and then all of a sudden everything happens at once. I have no doubt it's because we have the best, most gracious fans on the planet. Thank you all so much for spreading the word about StephenSpeaks… we have no major record company behind us, no promotional company… not even a band manager, so we know that all the credit for this goes straight to you all for telling your friends about us and doing cool things like giving your CD to the local radio station. We could never thank you all enough, however we will never stop trying to.

Goodbye Party
By Rockwell Ryan Ripperger
I've always wanted to say that. This will be our first going away party... mainly because it's the first time we're going away. We're heading off to tour in the Philippines on February 1st, and we thought we'd play a show here to say goodbye to all our American friends before we head out. It's going to be one of the biggest show we've ever played in the US, and by FAR the coolest place we've ever played. The Paramount Theatre is a classic theatre built in the 1930s, located in downtown Abilene, TX... looks like something straight out of Tombstone. I've always thought it was such a cool place, and always wanted to watch something there... but never imagined the first time I'd be there for a performace would be our own! How cool is that? (ok, well it's cool when you spend your free time looking at guitars on the internet)
We're playing at 8:00 PM on Saturday, January 25th, and admission is $5. We'll have a HUGE sound system there, and we'll be recording it on our new Pro Tools H|D system, some of the most state of the art recording gear in the world, as well as videotaping it. Rest assured we'll have the coolest effects and highest sound quality we've ever had. We'll release the recording/video in some way or other. The Paramount has a capacity of 1,200 people - 700 downstairs, 500 in the balcony - and we're hoping to pack it out. We're gonna need your help to spread the word in just 10 days, so please help us out. If you're a Stephen Speaks fan... or thinking about being one, this is the show to come to!!! Plus it's a perfect excuse to take a roadtrip. :) So please, come see us off before we head out to the Philippines. Maybe you'll hear yourself on the CD screaming out, "FREEEEEE-BIRRRRRD!!!" Oh wait... wrong band. (To those of you who are lost, like Dain sitting next to me, it's a Lynard Skynard song)
You can order tickets online, or pay at the door. To reserve your tickets online, or to check out some wicked-cool info on the Paramount, visit the following link:
http://www.stephenspeaks.com/paramount.html
awww they sound so excited!!! They look forward to partying with you guys!! Show them how we Filipinos spread the love!!!!

i was able to listen to the entire show and it was a surprise really cause miles (the dj) had her chance to interview rockwell! she was on the chatroom with rockwell--when i guess, he decided to call in..:) it was around 3:30 in the morning in the us when they had the conversation---really early! parts of the interview included how the song "passenger seat" came about (which was actually inspired by a former girlfriend of tj's) as well as "out of my league" ( tj wrote it for this dream girl he had a major crush on. he wrote the song for this girl and *check this out* he even had the song recorded on tape and gave it to her personally with a bouquet of flowers in hand! so sweet, wasn't he? but i guess, she got it all wrong after hearing it and decided to dump the guy.... ) if it happened to me, it would turn out differently! :D
he said he was really excited to finally perform in the philippines since it was the first time the band had a concert/gig outside the us. ...just like the rest of us are excited to see them onstage!:)

Ey guys, this song by Stephen Speaks is also really nice. Melancholic yet positive. You have to hear this..
the leaving song
(r. ripperger)
and everytime i think of you
i'll remember all the good times that we've had
and everytime i sing this tune
i will laugh, i will cry, i will close my eyes cause i know that it won't be long
{until we sing, we will write, we will laugh away the night
and the good times will never end
when we meet again}
and i'm gonna be somewhat lonely
cause you know no one could ever fill your shoes
as iron sharpens iron you have taught me how to be a stronger man
and i look forward to the day i'll learn again
{we will sing, we will write, we will laugh away the night
and i know that it won't be long,
until we meet again}
though i wish that i were with you now i know there's a reason for space
i can dream of memories you're writing down
and i look forward to that day & the smile on your face
{we will sing, we will write, we might cry and we might fight
and the good times will never end
we will laugh, we'll relax, we'll reflect on the years we've past
and i know that it won't be long,
until we meet again}
