I had the chance to go on cruise via Silversea Company. the name of the ship is Silver Cloud.
We went from Rome to Imperia, Italy; Marsaille France, Mallorca Spain, Barcelona Spain, the worst stop is Morrocco, then Lisbon Portugal.
most of us, nagsuka sa ship.
pero it was fun though.

=)

Ganda ng Rome no? hehehe Last year I was able to go to Vienna, Nice, Monaco, Cannes, Milan and Rome. I fell in love with Rome and Vienna, since I have Pinoy friends there in Vienna, I felt like a local. My adventures naman dun was I took the Eurail from Rome to Vienna alone. It was some trip, I never thought I could do that. Saya nga eh, nice views and I felt a sense of accomplishment. And next week, I'll be leaving for Spain naman. Barcelona, Madrid and Seville, I dunno the rest.

Lenny, subukan mo sumakay ng Silversea cruise.
Silver Cloud nasakyan namin eh.
NAG THROW UP na ako.
i got the chance to ask them pa nga eh almost $2000 ang sweldo daw nila doon!!!
swerte talaga nila. you can check out www.silversea.com

puros eat all u can, room service all you want, puros lobster, scallops, and you can order almost 10 bottles of wine a day!!!
puwede rin take home!!!
pero nung pagdating namin sa Airport, sa sobrang greed namin, most of us were charged $1000 - $3600 for EXCESS BAGAGE LANG HA!!!
buwisit talaga yang Lufthansa na yan!!!
Business class pa naman!!!
for ur info, meron pa lang first class, business class and economy ang lufthansa. doon ko lang rin nalaman. first class, may bed; business class, maluluwag ang mga spaces, walang bed, pero puwede ka mag full stretch ng backrest mo...

seville spain di ako nagpunta doon. pero favorite namin ang EL CORTE INGGLES department store.

by the way, ingats ka dapat sa mga gypsies ba yun???
parang mga squatters na they will make you look up and down, all you know, WALA NA ANG WALLET MO.
siyempre, don't forget to buy GODIVA and LINDT chocolates na din!!!
mas mura doon sa europe kaysa sa DUTY FREE natin!!!
of course, YUNG MILEAGE ninyo sa LUFTHANSA, huwag kalimutan and also the airport TAX REFUND!!!

Hey thanks sa tips ha. We're taking KLM eh. Yeah I know about those gypsies. I was in Rome and Milan nung summer of last year, I was taking the subway with my friend sa Rome and may napansin kami na mama na medyo malikot, tapos we saw na he's slipping his hand sa coat ng guy na katabi niya. We were talking in Tagalog kaya ok lang na malakas, walang nakakaintindi, term nga namin eh "mandy" as for mandurukot hehehe. Well when I was in Europe we never stayed sa hotel. We were hosted by Filipinos who were living there, so in a way ang laki ng nakatipid namin. Kasi food and lodgings libre!!! And we felt we were locals since I was with people who grew up there na, but they still speak perfect Tagalog. Some of my friends in Vienna, Batangueño pa nga ang accents eh hehehe.

Sa Rome I stayed in a friend's place. It was kinda fun kasi I was there pero hindi tourist status. hehehe From our place I know how to get to the main station- Termini ba yun all by myself. One bus and train away lang. Saya. hehehe then from Termini, you take a specific bus, you reach the Vatican na. And sa Rome sarap mag people watching.

And I went to Europe not for the shopping, the things you said are waaay to expensive for me... di kaya ng budget ko hehehe I went there to see my friends. When i shop, I just shop for the clothes. I'm after the clothes hehehe yun ang parang sourvenir ko from the place. Just getting to Europe is a BIG blessing enough. Regarding the cruise? nah... not my thing hehehe Too expensive. So you know why, "Deutsch is wie music in meinen ohren"meaning German is music to my ears. hehehe

Oh yeah I was also able to visit Como, Lake Como actually in Italy. An hours train ride north of Milan near the Swiss border. It's where a lot of Italian designers have their summer villas. Very picturesque town.

well, pag balak mo rin dumalaw sa portugal, and if ever may chance ka to visit the place, may fatima apparition ba yun? I'm a born again christian kasi so, di ako masyadong interesado sa ganun. we were able to visit the site of apparition ba yun?
yung si mary daw nagpakita sa mga 3 children in which yung 2 patay na. yung isa, still living up to now pero 95 years old na.

oh by the way, you should not forget to visit St. Peter's Basilica and the Sistine Chapel in Rome. dapat tahimik daw kayo sa loob. kasi yung mga paintings at mga carvings ni Michaelangelo nandoon na naka preserve!!! as in open for public yung mga paintings niya. super super luma pero they add some chemicals to preserve it pa ata. pati yung mga carvings niya... yung may virgin mary carrying Jesus on her lap. i forgot what they call it.

nakow, i forgot which country na nga ito located. If i'm not mistaken, i think its Spain ba yun? and of course yung Barcelona Stadium which held the barcelona olympics nung 1992.

mac, hay nakow, i tell you!!!
ang saya sa silver cloud. (silver cloud is the name of the ship) bali, silversea ang name ng company. meron kasing silver shadow, silver whisper. Basta piliin ninyo ang Silver cloud cause it has veranda. (di pa namin nakita ang silver whisper and shadow) pero kung silversea ang pinili niyo, maganda talaga comparing it to Thomson (ba yun???) pangit ng Thomson!!!
WALANG VERANDA!!!

kasi pag sea sick na kami, sa own rooms namin, we can just open the door at may veranda. so we can enjoy the fresh air galing sa labas. unlike kung kulong ka lang sa barko, puros aircon lang. pangit yun.

try checking out www.silversea.com. maganda ang facilities. pero tip lang, kailangan by the 2s kayo. sa isang room kasi sa silver cloud, 2 beds, with TV and VHS. tapos may living room pa. malaki ang spaces!!! and of course the veranda!!!
may gym, swimming pool, sauna, spa, may duty free pa sa loob. it has 9 floors, with 4 elevators. IMAGINE TITANIC!!! parang ganun sa loob. may casino pa and has 4-5 restaurants. MAGANDA TALAGA! pero it cost us almost $10,000 doon good for 10 days.
pero ganda ng ammenities and good service!!!
you can order anything at ANY TIME, KAHIT HATING GABI KA MAGPALUTO NG HOTDOG WITH hamburger, ice cream na 4 scoops, papadeliver nila after 30 mins.
kahit 4 am pa gusto mo!!!

=)

PIETA... that's michaelangelo's sculpture of virgin mary with jesus on her lap. it is located on the right side of the basilica, just a few steps after you pass the main entrance. the sculpture is encased with bullet-proof fiber glass. underground is the burial site of st. peter and other previous popes.
i heard that sistine chapel is closed on sundays. go during the weekdays...

Yes that was in Fatima. I was able to see the Sistine Chapel and St. Peter's Bassilica last year (di mo talaga binasa post ko no? hehehe). Actually the Museo Vaticani was kinda big, sobrang daming artworks, and due to time constraints, binilisan ko lakad ko para makita ko na yung Sistine Chapel. Which happens to be the culminating piece in the entire museum. The statue of the Virgin holding Jesus is the "Pieta." Covered with glass siya, kasi somebody tried to attack it during the 70's. Even if you're not Catholic, buti naapreciate mo yung Vatican. Well nung nandun ako madami din akong nakitang Muslims. And oh yeah, forgot to add, we were able to go to Venice, 3 hours drive lang from Milan. Waaay tooo expensive there, and have you tried the "gelato"? Yung Italian ice cream?

Diba right side yung Pieta? Kasi I remember we entered the door sa right side yung Jubilee door then near the door is the Pieta na. I saw Pope Pius X tapos there was an iron mask covering his face. And some other popes I dunno. Tapos at the right side of the Basilica, there's like another big room/chapel, where there's the blessed sacrament, you're not allowed to take pictures inside.

we also went to Fontana di Trevi. yung maraming tubig ba na overflowing...

pero i didn't know that it was Gelato. ibang iba ang ang lasa ng ice cream nila compared sa atin. ang creamy and ang sarap sarap na hindi ko ma-explain... i always had vanilla ice cream on board silver cloud. home made daw nila yun and mga chefs nila ay Italian...

i tried looking for a similar vanilla ice cream here sa Pinas, I think the closest that puwedeng itulad sa vanilla ice cream nila will be like the ice cream na home made ng Makati Shangri La Hotel sa Island Cafe. Its also creamy and almost the same na.

By the way, did you go to the Spanish Steps??? punta ka din doon. tambayan ng mga walang ginagawa.

at saka... siesta pala nila is from 2:30pm up to 4:30 pm!!!
most of the shops (except big department stores) are closed...

Lenny
Nov 17, 2002, 08:44 PM
So you tasted Gelato. Gelato is the word for "Italian ice cream." Sarap no? Yeah home made nga sila. Geesh... kakamiss. Yeah I went to the Spanish steps. SArap mag people watching. Did you go sa Piazza Navona? Ang di ko napuntahan eh yung Trevi Fountain... that was the day i left Rome for Vienna.

Green Archer- how was the tipping after the trip. I know that everything is included in the cruise but you need to tip everyone you come in contact with after the trip. What was your experience???

Plan to maybe go on a Carribean Cruise next year.

TO GREENARCHER,

the door that you are referring to is open by the pope once every 25 years or the JUBILEE YEAR!

fontana di trevi or the trevi fountain is the fountain where you throw coins with your back facing it. if you do it once, you will return to italy. twice, you will fall in love with an italian. thrice, you will marry an italian.

also saw spanish steps. overflowing ang flowers sa steps nya.

also been to piazza navona where you will find the best TARTUFO desert in the whole of italy at CAFE TRE SCALINI. want to know what a tartufo is? try it here (pinas) at italliani's.

TO LENNY,

SAAAARAAAAAAP!!!

sa paris, sa likod ng notre dame cathedral pagtawid mo ng bridge is BERTHILLION. a small place that sells the best ice cream in the whole of france. kelangan mo lang ng translation book dahil french mga nakasulat na flavors.

when I was in Vienna, I did not go on a shopping rampage. I just bought a few clothes sa H&M that was within my budget. My favorite H&M branch was in MariahilferStrasse. Even my friends there told me mura nga doon, and good quality pa. I was there last year nung schilling pa gamit nila. i bought 3 t shirts if you compute it is only P200 each (kasi sale), and the most expensive clothing I bought was within the P1000 mark. Diba P3= 1 schilling pa nun? I bought a synthetic jacket (mukha nga siyang leather) for only P1000+ sa Gengross. Ewan ko now na Euro na sila. And leather shoes na P1500 sa MeirSchuhe (sana tama spelling). and I did not even bother buy schokolade there, binigyan nalang ako ng mga friends ko ng MozartKugel para iuwi. hehehe

2) take the overnight train trips para tipid sa tulugan.

3) hostel. the best place to meet the youthful exuberance of a backpacker. browse/search the internet. europeanhostels.com

4) bring a lonely planet travel guide-western europe on a shoestring budget! your best companion!

5) bring food that will remind you of home. i brough rice since most hostels have cookers.

6) buy food in the markets or palengke sa atin.

7) always bring the things you cannot do without e.g. card/money, passport, tickets.

8) buy locks for your bags including your backpack.

9) pray

12) buy films and video tapes in manila.

13) bring someone whom you can talk to and share your feelings about the trip/place.

14) leave your itinerary to someone whom you can trust at home para ma-contact ka in case of emergency.

15) know the important telephone numbers of each country e.g. police, lost card, embassy, etc.

16) bring your own medicines. with Rx from your doctor. ALSO VISIT YOUR DENTIST AND GET A GOOD HAIRCUT BEFORE LEAVING FOR YOUR TRIP. BELIEVE ME!

17) get enough sleep para ma-enjoy mo the next day.

18) use the trains. cheapest and fastest within the city. take the one-day or one-week passes.
