The Miss Puerto Rico Universe pageant ain't only getting a new crown-- it's also having a new theme song...
Here are the lyrics of Mujer Puertorriqueña. It was written by top Puerto Rican composer Jose Feliciano.
Mujer Puertorriqueña
Mujer puertorriqueña,
como tú no hay ninguna;
para mí eres una
y eres de mi alma dueña.
Mujer puertorriqueña, mujer que trae candela
en tus labios cuando besas
y me traes de cabeza con tu gran belleza.
Mujer puertorriqueña...
La luz a mi vida diste
y a mi alma esta canción trajiste;
la alegría de poder soñar
que algún día te pudiera amar...
Mujer puertorriqueña...
(Chorus)
Ah, ah, ay... borinqueña
Ah, ah, ay... te quiero
Ah, ah, ay... borinqueña
Ah, ah, ay... te quiero
The new crown and theme song are to symbolize the birth and dawn of a new and redefined Miss Puerto Rico Universe pageant under the leadership of Magaly Febles. :)

BREAKING NEWS
SPAIN might boycott Miss World 2002 too...
Lola Alcocer Vasquez, who was 1st runner-up during the Miss España 2002 pageant, might not compete in the Miss World 2002 pageant set for November 30 in Abuja, Nigeria.
http://www.hola.com/2002/09/06/missmundopolemica/imgs/miss1a.jpg http://www.hola.com/2002/09/06/missmundopolemica/imgs/miss2a.jpg
This was due to the decisions of her counterparts from Belgium, France, Denmark and Norway to withdraw from the pageant following the death sentence carried out by the Nigerian government on single mother Amina Lawal.
http://www.hola.com/2002/09/06/missmundopolemica/imgs/amina1b.jpg
Lola revealed that as of the moment, she's still planning to compete in the pageant. But she said that "it would be better of course if the death sentence on Amina would be dropped." She further added that she was willing to support her counterparts who have withdrawn. "I would withdraw anytime if the need arises. But as of now, I'm not yet sure."

:whatthe: My gawd, this is already alarming! What's gonna happen kaya come November? Sayang naman paghihirap ng Pageant Committee in Nigeria! Masisira lahat ng plano nila. :hopeless:
I believe the recent threats of candidates to withdraw is caused by the domino effect. Miss Norway Katrine Soerland threatened to withdraw and a few delegates followed suit. What's the stand of Katherine Manalo on this issue kaya? :wondering:
On the other hand, Miss World Org. promised to gather 100+ beauties for this year's pageant. If delegates would really withdraw themselves from the competition then Miss World would again fall short of its prediction of about a hundred beauties. So far, Miss World Org. holds the record for having the most delegates in attendance. It was able to gather 95 delegates during the 2000 edition. For the 1999 edition, they had 94. And for last year's edition, they had 93.

fidèle: Yup! It's really alarming nga. If my memory serves me right, the last time there was a mass withdrawal from Miss World was way back during the 70's. I remember two of our girls-- Joy Conde and Peachy Veneracion-- withdrawing at the very last minute upon orders of the government. Sayang. These two stunners reportedly had a good shot at bringing home what could have been our 1st and 2nd Miss World crowns.
Musique: Morning!

I have yet to see what the Latin girls say about this. They're not much into controversies concerning moral issues. And i know go na go pa rin ang Venezuela no matter what. Osmel wouldn't care about this controversy. It seems the girls from the Carribean and the Asian region are quiet as well. I think our bet will not boycott Miss World, knowing Madamme Stella.
Regarding Miss Nicaragua,
It was her hair in the prelims that sealed her fate.

Sep 10, 2002, 01:06 AM
Lara_D: Yup! It was how she carried herself during the Presentation Show that did her. I couldn't see any problems with her figure and choice of evening gown! Both are perfect! She did not carry herself well...
You're right. It was the HAIR! Her pageant director tried so hard in vain to pattern her looks after that of Ligia Arguello Roa. Her evening gown was designed by Venezuelan designer Franco Montoro-- same guy who did Natascha Borger's peach gown.

Well I'm still sticking ot her as my bet. But she doesn't look like Isis, maybe it's the angle shots. She definitely has lots of room for improvement in case she wins. May ikagaganda pa siya. But they should not pattern her with Denise or Isis.
Regarding Miss Malaysia World:
It seems the calibre of the girls are dwindling every year. Parang mas maganda yung pang Miss Universe nila.

Her name is Su Wei Tan, she represented Malaysia in Miss World 2000. She was stunning during the gown competition, but she was ignored by the judges. The Malaysian girl that could create waves in Miss Universe but next year she would turn 27- overage already. But since Miss Universe is in May, she would only turn 27 on Sept. 30, 2003 (same birthday as my mom). So is there still hope for her?

JENSIE's THOUGHTS :glee:
During Miss Universe 2003 in May, expect the following countries to be hyped:
http://www.flags.net/elements/small_gifs/ALGE001.GIF ALGERIA- It will be Algeria's 1st time to join the Miss Universe pageant. Expect its delegate to receive the same attention that newbies Albania and China got last May in San Juan. Who knows, it might even crack up a Top 10 slot! :)
http://www.flags.net/elements/small_gifs/CLMB001.GIF COLOMBIA- Since Panama is a former province of Colombia, there would be great pressure on the Colombian delegate. Besides, it's also a time for revenge after failing to enter the semi-finals last May.
http://www.flags.net/elements/small_gifs/PANA001.GIF PANAMA- Need I say more? Of course Stephanie de Roux will naturally be hyped. It's the 2nd time for her country to host the Miss Universe pageant. The first was on July 0f 1986.
http://www.flags.net/elements/small_gifs/UNST001.GIF U.S.A.- After failing to make it to the semi-finals last May, expect Miss USA to make waves... They are definitely back to take revenge.
http://www.flags.net/elements/small_gifs/VENZ001.GIF VENEZUELA- Panama hosted Miss Universe 1986. That year's winner was from Venezuela. This will be a homecoming for the world pageant super power. Expect Miss Venezuela to face tremendous pressure from all corners of the UNIVERSE! Panama is definitely a sentimental place for them!
What do you guys think? :D

But, I can't figure out where on earth are they? Makes you feel so small noh? Parang ang daming pwedeng puntahan sa mundo?!? Let her join Miss Thailand Universe. I assume by now she can speak conversational Thai, unlike like last year when quite a number of Thai people felt insulted when they learned that their girl who will represent their country could not even speak the language.
Algeria is in Northern Africa, a neighbor of Egypt.

The reason why Miss Italia lost the Miss U franchise was because they allow married women to join the pageant. Well unethical nga ng Miss Italia. But Miss Italia is definitely more prestigious in Italy. I was in Rome last year, during the time Miss Universe was being held in Bayamon, and I was walking sa Centrale, the main train station in Rome, I saw a life size picture of Miss Italia 2000, Tania Zamparo sa isang watch shop ba yun, can't remember. What do you mean prototype? Sushmita prototype? She's a pioneer. Without her, India won't be a powerhouse. The reason why Lara doesn't have strong Indian features, is because she's of mixed European origin. Unlike Sushmita, she's 100% Indian blood. And I don't think mabaho sila tingnan. Just look at their models on the runway every India Fashion week, and how they do their model pictorials, I would say they have made it in good taste, unlike in Miss Venezuela where they look so exag. Apology accepted, but all of your comments are racist.

good morning peeps!!!!!!:)
it's weird na yung pinost ko kahapon ay di nagregister. anyways,
JENSIE_G thanks for posting the pix of martina thorogood. she's definitely a winner for me. sayang nga lang at hindi siya nagcompete sa miss universe because of her being the miss world first runner up. it would be interesting to know how she could have fared against lara. although claudia gave a strong fight in the miss universe. :)
that thai girl last year, Lada(?) was truly one of the best looking thailand delegate in the miss world. sayang nga lang at di siya nakapasok sa top 10. i find the top 10 of miss world medyo unexpected kung minsan. sobrang hindi siya predictable and there are always surprises.
on the topic about indian beauty queens, i personally commend their stage presence. sila together with misses from USA and venezuela have the "it" attitude. sometimes you have to have that attitude of feeling like a winner. i can still remember lara and sush. they have the commanding presence on stage esp. on the interview part. :D
i haven' t seen ash competing and i hope to get a copy of that video. does anyone have a copy? pahiram naman. :) but basing from the pictures and the comments. i think that ash is a girl to be in beauty pageants. and as far as i can remember, during the femina miss india, sush and ash ended up in a tie. and the judges had a difficulty deciding. anyways, they made the right choice afterall coz both of them took home the crown. they both paved way for indian women's dominance in beauty pageants. :p

right, marami din namang models ang sumasali sa binibini. baba parma also joined bb. pilipinas 1992 and she was in the top 15.
but in recent years, being a (super)model is not an assurance that you'll do well in a beuty contest. i think rachel soriano is the last of that breed to win a beauty title. many have tried, but failed, like maricris perez, evita bunyi, tina pamintuan, and liz almoro. IMO, mas magaganda talaga nng mga models nun. medyo may konting air kasi ang mga models ngayon.
before, when we had women like patty betita, gem padilla, marina benipayo, marilen espino, cara subijano, and abbygale arenas. they were already top models, but still they joined binibini, and did relatively well in their respective international competitions.
anyways, literally speaking, malaki pala talaga ang ulo ni phoemela baranda. saw her in grenbelt and she was so thin and i think the size of her head is not proportional to her body. but she's pretty.

I was able to watch Miss Italia in RAI International earlier this morning( i don't know kung ito nga talaga). Akala ko nga dati pa yong pageant na yon, pero when i saw the picture sa GB, I knew the girl looked familiar. Actually, I was only able to watch the announcement of the winner. It was all in Italian so I didn't understand anything. When the two ladies were left, (they were all in swimsuits) ang tagal bago na announce yung winner. Siguro mga 2 minutes pang daldalan bago na-announce.
And then, hindi i-nannounce yung first runner up (who has shorter hair and a bit taller), yung number lang nung winnner, (i think it was 029 or 027). and pag ka announce, dinumog siya kaagad ng other contestants(also in swimsuits) and then halos magulo na yung buhok niya. siguro mga 2 minutes after saka lang na bigay yung sash niya. actually, may mga 5 delegates nga na hindi na lumapit sa kanya eh!
'la lang!

Kasi sa story ng Betty La Fea, she resigned from her work at a famous Modelling Agency (Eco-Moda) then she was hired by a friend who also used to be a stockholder of the said company. Then they both went to Cartagena because her new boss has a new line of business connected with beauty pageants and modelling. Her transformation from the dorky girl to a sophisticated lady starts from here. Then it so happened that Señorita Colombia 2001 Pageant was to be held in the same place. They were goin to attend the Coronation Night. Di ko na alam ang susunod.. Papanoorin ko pa bukas! :glee:

"If I'm chosen for this competition, I'm not going to Nigeria, and I hope my decision will help Amina Lawal."
KATHRINE SOERLAND - MISS NORWAY
Geir Hammes, manager of Miss Norway said that if the Nigerian Supreme Court does not invalidate Lawal's sentence she will not attend.
Nigeria's Supreme Court will not be able to consider a verdict in the case until it has gone through two lowe courts and is unlikely to pronounce before the event.
MISS KENYA
Kenya's Miss World national coordinator, Leakey Odera said: "There's no point sending our participant to Nigeria if Lawal is executed, because the world would think we are backing the inequitable executions by the Islamic courts."
UNDECIDED:
MISS NETHERLANDS
Hans Koenings, a spokesman for the Miss Netherlands organisation , said:"It is up to the Miss World Organisation to decide if they want to take the event to such a country. I would imagine they would want to take a long hard look at the situation."
SIMONE WULF-REINFURT - MISS GERMANY
Miss Germany runnerup and Miss World 2002 nominee Simone Wulf-Reinfurt, 20 is concerned about the location of the event.
"If half of the women threaten not to go, the organisers should do something," she said.

MASJA JUEL - MISS DENMARK
Juel has expressed concerns over the verdict and is said to be closely watching the responses of the other contestants. Her sponsors said she would decide on Monday.
SANDRINE AGBOPKE - MISS TOGO
Agbopke is unsure of participating. She said, "Stoning this woman is not right. The authorities and all of society should rise up to end this sort of practice."
TEODORA BOURGAZLIEVA - MISS BULGARIA
The Bulgarian Miss World committee did not wish to comment on a possible boycott. Miss Bulgaria might in any case be banned for having posed for nude photographs.
MISS POLAND
The president of the Miss Poland organising committee said the Polish contestant would be chosen on October 12 and would decide herself whether to go to Nigeria.
VANESSA CARREIRA - MISS SOUTH AFRICA
Carriera wants to attend and feels attending will send an effective message than not attending. She however adds the final decision would be up to her national director.
CONFIRMED ATTENDANCE:
MISS AUSTRIA
Emil Bauer, head of the Austrian Miss World Committee, said : "Miss Austria very much wants to take part. I could block her decision, but I don't want to hurt her career. Personally I'm against going. I don't want to put a foot in that country," he said.
SOPHIA HEDMARK - MISS SWEDEN
Hedmark, the Miss Sweden runnerup and Miss World contender has said, "The ruling...violates human rights but there is nothing to be gained by not going to Nigeria."
A spokeswoman for the Swedish TV company sponsoring the event said she was under contract to attend.
KATERINA SMRZOVA - MISS CZECH REPUBLIC
Smrzova will attend according to event organisers Art Production K2 who did not wish to comment on the judgement.

An interesting trivia about the new Miss Italia:
Eleonora is a returning contestant (she had already participated 3 years ago). Her father, whose dream was to see his daughter win the pageant someday, passed away 6 months ago, so she decided to re-enter the pageant in his memory...and she won. Talk about guardian angels.

VANESSA CARREIRA
Miss South Africa for Miss World 2002
Third RU Miss Universe 2002
Johannesburg, South Africa (Sept.9,2002 - by Sonnette Lombaard) Vanessa Carreira, Miss South Africa says Sun International, owner of the Miss South Africa competition, has the final say about her participation in the Miss World competition.
The Miss World competition, due to be held on November 30 in Nigeria, is in jeopardy after various countries threatened to pull out their representatives if the death sentence imposed on a Nigerian woman with an illegitimate child was not set aside.
Sun International is in contact with Miss World organisers about the issue.
The outburst surrounding this year's competition erupted after an Islamic court in Northern Nigeria turned down Amina Lawal's appeal against her death sentence on August 19. Lawal is to be stoned to death.
The ruling elicited sharp response from Miss World contestants and Misses Norway, Denmark and Togo have indicated they will boycott the event if the government fails to set aside the ruling. Some contestants have expressed anxiety for their safety after threats by Islamic groups to disrupt the proceedings.
Carreira says it's a tricky situation since the conviction is in line with Islamic tradition.
"If the boycott is likely to materially improve the fate of Nigerian women, I am prepared to support it, but I think a more effective way would be if the representatives compete and then take a united stance," Carreira added.
Meanwhile, Sapa-AFP has reported that Miss Belgium, Ann van elsen, has joined other contestants' decision to withdraw if Lawal's death sentence is not overturned. In another development, Miss Germany, Katrin Wrobel has relinquished her title three months ahead of the competition as she has reportedly noy yet received her prize car.

The Miss Italia crown looks similar to their French counterpart. What a waste that they lost the franchise. Though I'm not in favor of them getting crowned in swimsuits. The reason why a lot of Italian girls still join Miss Italia even if they lost the MU franchise is because there are more prizes and it's really prestigious in Italy. There is no harm for Daniela Ferolla joining Miss for Miss Universe next year.

Here is Mareva Galanter described by one of her biggest fans, GB's French correspondent Martial Dumas:
"Mareva Galanter... Mareva... just her first name is exotic and beautiful ! Look how she's simply and naturally beautiful... The moment she entered the Miss France election stage back in December of 98, French people thought: "Don't give her the Miss France crown ! Give her the Miss Universe crown !!"
Since that moment, Mareva really became part of our lives. She didn't seem too be affected by her failure in Miss Universe. It was clear it was only a step to reach her goals. At the very end of her reign as Miss France, she revealed herself, her true personality. Being a beauty queen forces you to be wise and kind, but a few days after the end of her reign, she was on the cover of a French magazine, half naked... Shocking? Not for us. It was natural, it was beautiful, it was Mareva.
She explained that she was used to live this way, half naked and barefoot in Tahiti. Far from her island in Paris, she simply tried to be herself, just like a true Polynesian ! Madame de Fontenay (Société Miss France's President) publicly said she was shocked and disappointed... After a good talk among the two, Madame de Fontenay understood her reasons and they kept on respecting each other. Neither ever made a bad remark or complained about the other.
Success came quickly. Mareva appeared in several talk shows, especially in a very popular one in France, hosted by a man who is usually not "tender" to girls and especially to ex-Miss France... He, and the other guests of the show, were totally subjugated by Mareva, by her extraordinary beauty, by her charm, her poise and her intelligence and repartee... The host told her "Usually we say a girl is cute, we can't say that about you... You're not cute, you are beautiful..." .
From then on, she co-hosted several French TV programs and hosted the French NRJ Music Awards on prime time. She said her goal was to be in the Movie business, but didn't want to be used as the usual stupid and beautiful girl. Mareva first had a little part in a famous TV series and was happy with it. She then had another little role in a movie directed by a famous French movie director and dealt with it. The movie director who made the third biggest success on the French Film Industry proposed her a role in her new movie. We should see her on the big screens again soon...
How to describe Mareva better than by what she said ? Interviewed a year after her election as Miss France, she declared: "I lived the wait of the results of Miss France with serenity, contrary to the other girls. Backstage, some of them were shacking from their head to their toes. I did not. When I entered the contest, I didn't realize my life's achievement... Besides, many reproached me for not crying... People have preconceived ideas about emotions... It's not because I was not in trance that this very moment was not intense for me."
"Mareva lives her life day after day, loves to learn, to live new experiences, simply, naturally... just like her."

This is Mareva's answer to the Miss Universe 1999 delegate questionaire
What is your proudest personal accomplishment (other than representing your country in this pageant)?
You can be proud of yourself when you win personal challenges. When I have to take a tough decision to deal with dishonest persons or face a difficult situation, I sometimes want to give up. But when I make it, when I control my emotions, it brings me great feelings. Being a "beauty queen" is great and tough at the same time, as you spend a lot of your time excusing yourself for having such a great life and trying to explain that a girl can be beautiful, have a brain and be helpful.
What is your career ambition? What are you doing or plan to do to accomplish that goal?
Before I took the decision to discover the beauty pageant world, I was at the University for a career in interpretation. After this experience, I will make a statement of the past year… Either I stay in the same kind of environment, like acting or modeling or I will go back to my studies. I never make plans too much in advance, as you never know what life has decided for you.
If you could be a reporter for one day and interview any one person in the world, who would it be and why?
If I could, I would ask God why in 1999, we could fly to the moon, surf on the Web, while there are millions of children dying of hunger.
In today’s society, women play prominent roles in business, politics, education, sports, entertainment and the arts. What are the contributions pageants make for today’s women?
Beauty has always attracted people. It’s a good way to get their attention and their cooperation if you want to work for a charitable organization, for example. Beauty pageants are popular events that millions of people watch.
Which one charitable organization or cause is most important to you? Why?
UNICEF, because this association brings help to the children poor and unfortunate
We are approaching the millennium, a once-every-1,000-year milestone. What do you think the role of women will be in the next century?
What can we do more than giving lives, working, maintaining a house, educating our children, being a good wife, stay elegant and presentable… It’s a lot.

No matter what happens at a court hearing this morning in federal district court in Wilmington, N.C., the two women insist that they will be making the trip to Atlantic City.
Both Revels and Clymer have contracts with the Miss North Carolina organization, a franchise subsidiary of the national Miss America organization.
If Revels is allowed to compete in the Sept. 21 Miss America contest, she will have a shot at becoming the first American Indian to ever win Miss America.

Misty Clymer, left, Rebekah Revels, center, and others on Sunday before an opening ceremony for the Miss America Pageant in Atlantic City.
In today's Good Morning America morning show, the two Miss North Carolinas for Miss America, Reba Reckles and Misty Clymer were crying their hearts out and telling their stories for all the American TV viewing public.
If you think Miss World has its own controversy, then you haven't seen this yet. If no judgment as to who will rightfully be North Carolina's official Miss America representative will be before the finals on Sept. 21, then this will forever go into Miss America pageant books as the first time two same state representatives competed for the Miss America crown.
Funny, but the two appeared cordial and friendly with each other, in fact saying they supported each other's cause.
Wonder if the same words will be uttered come judgment day.

I think its strange considering the fact that both are very determined to participate at the preliminaries of Miss America Pageant. Pano kaya yun?! Miss North Carolina 1 and Miss North Carolina 2? So all in all, there'd be 52 girls competing? Is this first time for American Pageant History?
I hope the federal judges would give justice to whoever deserves to represent the state of North Carolina!

Call me apathetic but I also don't care about Miss International. Hehehe Haven't you noticed that pageant only like blonds? Haven't you notice na most African countries stop sending delegates there. There perception of beauty is sooo dated. No offense pero parang ang target audience nila yung mga DOM na Hapon. hehehe

MISS WORLD ORGANIZATION SPEAKS OUT
Julia Morley, President of the Miss World Organization, has addressed the media with the following press release:
"We are all aware of the appalling situation regarding the North most part of Nigeria where the local leader of the Sharia Muslims, has condemned an unmarried woman to death by stoning, for having a baby. Clearly we are all appalled that such an action might take place. as are the vast majority of the Nigerian people. This is a situation that we have never come across before.
I have been speaking to several Ministers in the Nigerian Government. I am pleased to note that the Minister of Women's Affairs is personally supporting Ms Lawal in her fight for justice and despite rumours about Ms Lawal's lack of legal aid, I have been assured that The Minister, from the onset of this case, has provided free of charge, a team of lawyers to defend her. She will continue this support for as long as is necessary, to have this sentence overturned.
Ms. Lawal's appeal is to be heard shortly. The Attorney General of Nigeria has said that we should have faith in the due process of the law.
The Miss World Event is due to be held in Nigeria in November. With these assurances that we have been given, it would therefore be inappropriate at this stage to comment further until after that due process. We are monitoring the situation carefully and are confident that justice will prevail."

MISS WORLD DOES NOT COMMENT ON PAGEANT BOYCOTT
http://www.facepics.com/profiles/images/fidelepex/fidelepex_image1.jpg
LAGOS, Nigeria (Reuters) - Nigeria's reigning Miss World, Agbani Darego has refused to become involved in a threatened boycott of this years' beauty pageant in Abuja after some contestants vowed to withdraw over death sentences handed down by Nigerian Muslim courts.
Asked about the threatened boycott of the event on November 30 in the Nigerian capital, she said: "I'm sorry, I won't answer that." Darego, however, said the view of an influential Nigerian Muslim group that the country should not host the annual pageant was not "proper and right."
In August, the Jama'atul Muslimeen group in northwestern Sokoto state called on Muslims to oppose the event because it was "a parade of nudity" bound to promote promiscuity. "I see the pageant as an avenue for all ladies to get into whatever they want to be, maybe modeling or any profession," Darego told Reuters.
"Previous beauty queens have gone on to become doctors, lawyers ... important people in the society. Is that a promotion of promiscuity then?" Nigeria won the right to host the pageant after Darego was crowned Miss World at the last contest in South Africa, becoming the first black African to win the title.

Miss Italia is a national institution. It is about beauty, passion, fashion and tradition. After 4 days, and nearly 20 hours of what many Italians are calling an "old fashioned show urging for change", the best girl won. Eleonora Pedron, 20, from Padova, defeated 99 contestants with her beauty, witty, and charisma. It was the 2nd time Eleonora participated in Miss Italia. The first had been in 1999, when Manila Nazarro won the title.
If yesterday was one of the happiest days in this beautiful blonde's life (she is the first blonde Italian beauty queen since Ariana David, 1993 winner and Miss Universe semi-finalist in 1994), not everything in her 20 years of existence have been as pleasant. When the new Italian queen was a teenager, her father died in a car crash. A couple of years later, her sister died in the same way. Eleonora said to have had mixed feelings when she was being crowned as the most beautiful girl in Italy. She could not help remembering her dear father and sister and wish they could be there.
When reminded that she was elected only two days before the 1st anniversary of terrorist attacks in New York and Washington DC, Eleonora responded that a big monument dedicated to the victims of September 11 should be built, so that the world would never forget it.
Eleonora Pedron signed a US$120,000 contract with the Miss Italia's organization, won a new car, and many other prizes.
The first runner-up was Carla Duraturo, a native of Naples who is currently living in Milan. Carla, who also won the once worn by Sofia Loren "Miss Elegance" sash, surprised many with high placement despite her "short hair and hippie hair cut", which defeated the traditional "mediterranean look."
This year's pageant, like always, had some remarkable moments, like the musical tribute to New York, Fabrizio Frizzi (the excellent host) singing with the 100 delegates, Andrea Bocceli's performance, the delegate's fashion shows, Eleonora's interview and moment of victory.
The Miss Italia organization lost the right to send delegates to Miss Universe in 1999. This is the pageant that gave to the world Sofia Loren, Roberta Capua, Ariana David, Ana Valle, Roberta Capua, Denny Mendez, and so many others. This is the real Miss Italy pageant, and many claim that Eleonora, as the official representative of her country, should go to Panama and participate in the Miss Universe pageant in 2003.
We can only hope that in the near future the REAL representative of all the beauty and intensity of this fascinating country will represent "la bella Italia" in Miss Universe again.
