MISS JAMAICA WORLD, Jade Fulford, paraded at the Jamaica Pegasus last night stunning designs by Uzuri, Suzanne Chin Pen, and Loran V, and pieces from Max Brown and Haute Couture De Dawn.

The event was the unveiling of the wardrobe that Jade will take with her to the Miss World Competition in Sanya, China. The coronation will be held on December 6.

The wardrobe consisted of mostly red and black pieces with a few jade and blue colours thrown in to reveal an altogether pleasing presentation.

Jade wore the outfits with exquisite style while the few men and women present responded with 'oohs and aahs'. Also present at the event was Miss Jamaica Universe 2003, Michelle Lecky, who came to offer encouragement and advice to the young beauty, before her departure today.

The Belleza Nacional Honduras 2003 pageant has been suspended indefinitely. No coronation will take place tomorrow.

This is due to the pending case of 2001 winner Erika Ramirez, who was allegedly sexually abused and mistreated by the pageant director Eduardo Zablah.

Actually the show was kinda boring, nothing special. And you can easily spot that they have copied a lot of things from Miss Universe, and it's not just the logo.

Just saw the Miss World commercial in Star World. Lucky for a lot of us we don't have to bare with RPN 9's annoying telecast. I checked the schedule on the site, Miss World will air on December 6, Saturday at 9 pm. I guess the schedule is prior to changes.

SINGAPORE: Three leggy blondes with Nordic looks took the top positions in the Elite Model Look 2003 International competition. The top prize went to 15-year-old Denisa Dvoncova from Slovakia. The 1.81-metre beauty is the tallest amongst the top three winners, and she took home a US$150,000 working contract.

With more than 90 percent of the contestants below 21, it's no surprise the winner is only 15 years old.

After two rounds of judging, only 16 girls, out of the original 65 were left on stage.

All of them eager to be one of the top three to win two-year guaranteed modeling contracts worth over US$325,000.

16-year-old Christel Winther Petersen from Denmark was second runner-up, winning herself a US$75,000 working contract.

First Runner Up was 14-year-old Pernilla Linder from Sweden. The 1.78 metre model won a US$100,000 working contract.

IN THE end, it was three blonde princesses who took the top three spots in last night's Elite Model Look contest.

Fifteen year-old Denisa Dvoncova from Slovakia emerged winner in the international modelling competition, with Pernilla Lindner, 14, from Sweden, and Christel Winther Petersen, 16, from Denmark, following close behind.

Held at the Singapore Indoor Stadium last night, the prestigious modelling contest had 65 leggy contestants flying in from 53 countries around the world to take part.

Said one of the judges, Asian model Qiqi: 'The winner has the most popular look for now - the icy look.'

Perhaps the promised earnings will thaw them out a bit.

The top three winners strutted away with two-year contracts with the New York-based Elite agency and are guaranteed earnings of a total of US$325,000 (S$566,000) - US$150,000 for the winner, US$100,000 for the first runner-up, and US$75,000 for the second runner-up.

The girls, aged 14 to 22, were dressed by local labels iS and m)phosis for the competition.

Looking sexy in black and white casual wear, they did not falter as they sashayed down the circular runway, part of a massive white stage set in the centre of the indoor stadium.

Aside from Qiqi, the jury members included top models Yfke Sturm, Linda Vojtoya and Ana Mihalovic, all past winners of the international contest.

Decir concurso de belleza es, para algunas personas, como citar una serie de condiciones físicas y económicas carentes de valores profesionales y sensatez. Pero no es así, comenta Magali Febles, directora del Miss Puerto Rico Universo y República Dominicana, quien considera que éstas son embajadoras de su pueblo o país y hacen un trabajo digno para poner en alto el nombre de su nación dondequiera que lo representan.

Dice que precisamente trabaja en la actualidad para erradicar el criterio erróneo de que las reinas de belleza sólo son mujeres hermosas con la cabeza "vacía". Muestra de su propósito es que se encuentra en el país visitando los barrios, pueblos y escuelas de modelaje para captar chicas bellas que se ajusten a las exigencias físicas que requieren los concursos de belleza.

Sin embargo, explica que esas jóvenes no tienen que disponer de dinero, pues para eso los organizadores del concurso "Miss República Dominicana Universo", el cual se realizará en febrero próximo, trabajan en la búsqueda de empresas patrocinadoras que se encarguen de apadrinar a las que no cuenten con recursos económicos.

De la formación y preparación de las concursantes, se encargará Magali Febles, quien asegura que de acuerdo con la asimilación, disciplina y comportamiento de éstas, en poco tiempo podrán ser convertidas en verdaderas reinas de belleza.

Sostiene que ya es tiempo de cambiar el criterio de que las modelos y las reinas de belleza son mujeres sin preparación, "la belleza es un trabajo, es una oportunidad para las chicas desarrollarse y convertirse en verdaderas embajadoras de su país, como lo ha hecho Amelia Vega".

Al respecto comenta que aquí hay muchas chicas que pueden seguirle los pasos a Amelia, y continuar poniendo en alto el nombre de República Dominicana, pero para eso necesitan del apoyo del empresariado y el Estado dominicanos.

SOBRE ELLA
Gracias a un trabajo arduo desde el año 1981, Magali Febles ha obtenido grandes éxitos en el área de la belleza.

Es una cosmetóloga que ha dedicado parte de su vida a la preparación de reinas de belleza. Es la responsable del triunfo de Dayanara Torres Muñiz, Miss Universo 1993, y de Denisse Quiñones, como Miss Universo 2001, ambas de Puerto Rico.
Es la asesora de imagen de grandes artistas, como Giselle Blondet, Lucecita Benítez, Yolandita Monge, Milly Corretjer, entre otros.

Estableció la copa de la "Belleza por Excelencia" para los profesionales de la belleza. Tiene una sección de belleza en el noticiario del canal 2 de Puerto Rico.
