MISS GEORGIA's beauty is more suited for Miss USA than Teen USA. Her height advantage and her skills on the ramp are a major plus. Miss Wisconsin, if she gets to join Miss USA someday would be eaten alive since she's only 5'5. The real battle is in Miss USA. I think MIss Teen USA is just a dry run for her.

Whew... enough of Miss Teen USA for a while and let's move on to Miss Venezuela. After seeing their official portraits... I had mixed emotions. My initial reaction was, "Good GAD!!!! Mga babae ba yun?????" I wasn't able to notice quickly my bets because their make up is ever so thick as before. Sobrang dated na ang paglalagay na ng make up nila. I guess the Italian and French make up artists are laughing at them right now. It's too exag and you can't appreciate the beauty of the girls. Sure nagkaroon ng "miraculous" transformation, for instance Miss Apure, pero madami sa mga initial na magaganda pumanget dahil sa make up. ILike AMAZONAS (yes, she's the Italian ramp model and I posted some of her pics taken sa Italy a few pages back), LARA, she's the most natural and fresh looking girl in the Miss Sonrisa Colgate.

I still can't get the logic why they still stick to the 80's formula. That's Osmel's drawback. What an irony that he's a maker of queens, and yet, he needs a crash course on what's "in style" right now. the rest of the world is moving forward, while he's still stuck somewhere in 1982. hehehe

During the early 90's, the Miss Venezuela's are known for their exageration- exageration of everything, from gowns to make up, even the way they pose. I think up to now they're still stuck there. After seeing these girls, people are having a phobia towards Venezuelan beauties (cathybee and I included hehehe). They say their beauty is perfect, I don't think so.

Regarding DEPENDENCIAS FEDERALES' freckles sa back. Even before pa I've noticed madaming ganun sa mga Venezuelan candidates. The year i discovered the Miss Venezuela website was back in 1998 (Carolina Indriago's year), and back then nandidiri na ko sa iba sa kanila kasi ang dami nilang freckles. Even their Mr. Venezuela's madami din ganun. Ano ba yun???

anyways, i guess her simplicity was a big plus for her. she is the type that is not manufactured and i can see her beauty glowing. she is very natural and fresh. hope that this trend of pagenat winners would continue. ;) just like oxana. so i expect the same thing would follow in miss usa. :p

i'm looking forward in watching the miss teen usa in rpn9. it is interesting to know how vanessa made it. :p

as for miss venezuela candidates, indeed what a transformation. but my personal favorite is miss zulia, i agree with cathybee that she has a resemblance with eva. what's her name again?

anyway, pansin ko lang sa ms teen usa nag baba ng gown scores nila...i think its because sobrang mature yung gma gowns nila eh...parang di masyado bagay sa teenagers...miss georgias gown was nice and nadala naman ng contestant i guess because model nga siya..but i saw some contestants na over ang cleavage showing...basta sa akin ang iba feels like t heyre giving out the vibe that theyre in a hurry to grow up..yun lang =) ..pero miss wisconsin really deserved the crown..she was gorgeous!!...and very calm much like oxana was during the miss universe competition....=)

Miss Kentucky's gown reminds me of Sharon Corr's wedding gown...ganda...Saw a lot of wedding gown types in the top 10 ah :D

I think the color is off for Georgia (in my opinion) although the color and texture are really great! Tsaka pansin ko, panget sya tumawa, kita *** gilagid...I think meron sa etiquette thing yata na try to smile without showing up your gums. In my opinion din yan :)

I have mixed emotions regarding the swimsuit pictures. Well some of the girls did improve but as always ang kapal nanaman ng make up. There are others that have more flattering swimsuit pics than headshots, and vice versa. Basta you just can't appreciate their beauty with those heavy make up on, so people can't really make a clear assumption.

We all know the purpose of the First Runner-Up/First Princess right? To assume the duties/responsibilities and continue the reign of the dethroned queen. And had she accepted the offer of Eric Morley to assume the title she won't be the only Miss World by default. For example, there's Miss Guam 1980 who assumed the title a day after Miss Germany 1980 quit because her boyfriend disapproved of her winning.

ALGERIA WILL JOIN MISS UNIVERSE


Miss Algeria 2003 shall be revealed next October 24, after the finals held on the same day, pointed out Hamdad Abdelkader Cherradi, president of the steering committee and the protector of the copyrights of the annual Miss Algeria contest.Speaking to the press at El Riadh Hotel of Sidi Fredj, Cherradi pointed out that the final selection and the crowning of Miss Algeria 2003 will be attended by Erkan Ozerman, president of the "world's best model", accompanied by top model Eva Herzigova, Roger Zeller, organiser of Miss Universe, and Georges Crespin, promoter of Miss Africa.

"The election of Miss Algeria is centred around the great international contests in terms of Algerian participation. The latter consists in putting forward all the ins and outs of Algeria at the social and cultural levels," pointed out Cherradi, adding that "not that long ago, this contest, which our girls were dreaming about, involved only industrialised countries."

Speaking of the pre-selections, scheduled on Thursday at El Riadh Hotel, the organiser pointed out that there will involve some thirty participants aged between 16 and 25. According to the same source, the candidates to Miss Algeria 2003 shall have to come and go wearing their region's traditional costume, a European dress and finally in an evening dress.

As for the winner's schedule, Cherradi revealed that she would compete in the Best Model contest in the first week of December in Istanbul (Turkey), and that she would also be invited on the same month in Paris as part of Oran's cultural week organised by Paris city council and the agency for promoting culture and travel (APPCV).

In June 2003, Miss Algeria will also be invited in Paris for "the cross-memories of the Mediterranean." "The contacts set in Istanbul and Paris shall help to have Miss Algeria 2003 take part in other manifestations," concluded Algeria's official representative to the international committee of the Best Model of the World.

The would also select a delegate for Miss Africa and Best Model of the World. What? No Miss World? hehehe

Miss Carabobo Goizeder Azua won Miss World Venezuela, right? It simply means that the other favorites like Anzoategui, Amazonas, Distrito Capital, Nueva Esparta and Barinas have been spared and reserved for the Miss Venezuela 2002 pageant on September 20.

You're right again-- the Miss World Venezuela pageant is indeed only a second rate pageant... It's the Miss Venezuela pageant that people really look forward to... Osmel began to hold a separate pageant to select the Venezuelan representative for Miss World only last year. :)

Jensie knows the name of the coliseum. And sad to say, once they crown the new Miss Venezuela, Goizender would just be over shadowed by her.

Pero ang alam ko na one of the reasons kaya si Cynthia yung mag-compete sana is that ayaw ni Osmel na a few days after the Venezuelan pageant lang, aalis na kagad yung rep nila. Yes. The MV 2001 delegates (except for Cynthia Lander) competed for MVW. Actually there were more than 26 candidates sa MVW, 40 sila all in all. Then Osmel cut the list to 26 and he assigned the 26 girls with sashes. Madaming girls ang di umabot sa final 25 for Miss Venezuela.

24-year old Simone Wolf-Reinfurt was 1st runner-up during the Miss Germany Wahl 2002 pageant last January.

She was officially chosen to represent Germany in Miss World 2002 after the original queen-- Katrin Wrobel-- resigned 2 weeks ago.

The last time Germany made it in Miss World was in 1980, when Gabriella Brum won what could have been her country's 2nd ever Miss World crown. She resigned hours later due to the fact that her boyfriend disapproved of her winning.

Oh yeah I remember that, India last year wore another sari during the Prelims. I guess they can get away with it kasi they usually bring more than one sari in MU. She wore the green sari in the prelims kasi it's easier to put up (since they need to get ready fast in the Prelims). But her green sari wasn't an "official" national costume unlike Ghana's who wore two different ones in two "official costume" events. In the "official" costume portrait and the costume competition. I sound like a freakin lawyer. hehehe

Oo nga! It's a plus factor kung matangkad ang delegate. And in my opinion, though in a subtle way, nagkakaroon na rin ng bias sa mga matatangkad.

What I cannot believe is that most, if not all, Venezuelan representatives (and/or local pageant delegates) are all very tall, if not the tallest in their batch.

I'm not going to blame Evangeline if she declined the crown. It is really not nice that she was crowned by virtue of the winners disqualification. I heared it during an interview of Evangeline that during the tie-breaker, she scored 8 while Marjorie only managed 6. But because of Gregory Peck Miss USA won the title. I really think that it is not nice and very unethical to inherit a crown that was originally hers but was given to others. Just an opinion.
