I've heard different stories of how people eventually gave up their bad habits. Some went through a long, arduous process of little by little decreasing the frequency of them doing the habit. Some just realized something or someone very important to them that the habit was jeopardizing or affecting in a negative way, so they gave up the habit, but these are very few. Still others went through a spiritual conversion, and that experience helped them give up the habit.
I don't think there's any one formula that will work for all, but I believe before any true giving up of the habit can materialize, one must decide whether he really wants to give up the habit or not. That is the sole determinant. You see, all vices are pleasurable, some of them, extremely. But then, it carries with it unpleasurable consequences--health risks, addiction, etc. So it boils down to, what do you really want?? Pleasure or Safety??

I read somewhere that it takes 3 weeks to get rid of a habit... so stop doing something for 3 weeks daw then you'll lose the urge... the book also said you can do it for a month para mas regular. And when you cheat, you can continue cheating, pero you have to start again the next month.

Be exposed to someone who's sick because of that bad habit. Yung tipong you'll really get scared after seeing what that person is going through.
