I enrolled in a review school when I was about to take the NMAT and honestly, sayang lang ang pera ko. Kayang kaya na ng self-review eh.

they are an insult to good schools and teachers!

i know of one review school (can't say the name, sorry) that is in cahoots with the grade school students in terms of stealing excess long tests and quarterlies, which, they, in turn, reproduce and use as reviews.

tsk, tsk, tsk. ang sama talaga

I reviewed sa CPAR for my CPA Board Exam.

The advantages that a review school can offer you are:
1. Focus - masyadong maraming kailangan aralin (5 years ang acctg. sa UP) but a review school manages to simplify matters by pointing out the topics where you need to concentrate on

2. Pacing - this is very important. Kapag nag self-study ka, the greatest hurdle you will face is discipline, the discipline to follow the review plan and schedule that you have drawn for yourself. Sa review school malalaman mo agad kung in-pace ka with your studies.

3. Competition - if you want to top or place in a board exam, it is advisable that you go the largest review school with the most diverse distribution of students from different schools. During pre-boards, you can gauge your performance and ranking agad and make the necessary adjustments.

if you really studied in high school, you won't need this

it gives you an example of the test types.
but their mock tests help. research shows that one performs better after taking several tests... or something like that

You have to choose in what review school you want to enroll. Like in my case, I opted PRTC for my CPA review. Pero at the end, professors ko rin pala sa UST ang magiging reviewers ko. Insult nga sa iba kong professors na magagaling.

To answer your thread, yes, review school will help you prepare for your board exam and at the same time, update of what is happening in your profession.

I'm a ChE too and most of us go to MRI to have a review.
Since I'm still not a graduate (super senior pa lang ako), I can't share my own experience. However, I can share my classmate's experiences about taking a review. They said that it's worth the money because there are things that haven't been taught in school (ChE laws for instance) and plus that it'll really refresh your mind with all the things you've learned in your 5(+ ?)years in skul. And most of all, you can assess yourself on what you know and what you need to polish. It also offers a "mock-up" exam to know your strengths and weakness.
Hope this helps

its okay na mag-attend ng review
para na rin you know what to expect na ibibigay sa board exam(para mahuli mo din kung paano ka mag-review, di naman ksi lahat ng pinag-aralan mo ay ibibigay sa exam and sometimes kung san ka pa nag-concentrate yun pala ang hndi ibibigay etc.)

like the hitory of PRC as mentioned above (pinag-aralan nio ba yun sa engg.)

YUP.. IT HELPS.. Actually, it depends on your course..and the board exam that you plan to take...For engineering courses you really need to review, same for med and accounting..but NMAT.. I don't even think you have to enroll in a review school for that.. My cousin took the NMAT and he said its like an entrance exam. Plus..its cheap..4000 - 5000 would not hurt.. Its for a good cause.. When I took my review, I cashed out more than 40,000.. coz of the tuition fee which I had to pay 3 times.. Coz I took one regular review and took 2 refresher courses from two review schools..then the books and references I had to buy..my monthly allowance..the gas for the car..the parking..my weekend gimmicks..a lot of things.. Well, actually..it wasn't me who paid for it.. my parents did..Oh by the way if you asked me if I passed...Well, I did.
