View Full Version : Do you blowdry your hair?

I used to blowdry mine everyday before i go to school but after a month, i noticed split-ends. In short, my hair got damaged so i stopped. Now, my hair's longer so i need to tame it again by blowdrying because drying it with the use of an electric fan doesn't produce a good result.
Do you guys know a hair product that would prevent hair from getting damaged from blowdrying it too much? Because i remember seeing a product, i think it's a wax or something, that you put on your hair before blowdrying it so your hair won't completely dry out and get damaged.

I know there are products to use for blowdrying your hair but I don’t really know coz as much as possible I avoid blowdrying mine. I used Thermasilk Shampoo and Conditioner a few years ago, though, and they’re good products to use for heat-styling one’s hair. Blowdrying your hair frequently will really damage it by nature, so if you can avoid it, do so

I do, everyday. But, I rarely get split-ends. Mind you, my hair isn't stick-straight.
Try buying Thermasilk Shampoo and Conditioner. They are heat-activated products so more or less, they would protect your hair from constant blow-drying. Before blow drying your hair, apply a small amount of leave-on conditioner (I use Gastby Cream something, the blue one). You could also use Q-tee coat. Also, remember to divide hair into sections and blow-dry from roots to ends.

Try Neutrogena's HeatSafe.
Also, it's recommended by most stylists to air-dry your hair once in awhile. If you're not going out naman, just let your hair dry naturally.

I blowdry my hair everyday and I want to protect it. So, what is neutrogena's heatsafe? is it some kind of shampoo or conditioner? where can i buy it and how much?

Yes, I blow-dry my hair everyday that's why I'm usually late for work. I just can't afford to let it dry naturally because I have a wavy hair. Nothing worse than a bad hairday at the office. And anyway, I don't get split-ends naman. I use wax. :)

i use Q-tee Coat...it's the best hair polish for me.:D
hmmm..i'll try that neutrogena heatsafe...if only i know where to get one.:)
anyway, i usually blowdry my hair while the electric fan is on bcos it's much faster. i cannot not dry it before i leave the house because my hair is thick so pag air-dry, it tends to get all buhaghag.=/

ohmygosh i do! I wish i have naturally long, smooth, shiny hair but since i don't, thank God for blow dryers!! I've been blow drying my hair since i was a college sophomore - i've been working for almost a year now. At first, ii do it for just 3x a week but now i blowdry my hair almost everyday - Sunday's usually my hair's rest day :) Needless to say, it's pretty dry already! Thank God for hotoil treatments! - and thank GOD for Bhoy Navarette's salon! hihi. At first i was so hesitant to go there since the salon's known for its umm, 'showbiz' clientele such as Isabelle Granada and (gasp!) Ate Luds. But i'm soooooooooo glad i decided to try it out last month. They use the same products other high-end salons use - L'oreal Powerdose, Nioxin, etc. for half the price! They charge P380 regardless of hair length. The service (esp. the massage) is unbeatable! Believe me, I've tried Hairbytes, Paradigm and Emphasis. Bhoy lang pala katapat ko :) Now i can afford to have treatments twice a month!
Regarding Neutrogena's Heatsafe, i won't recommend it. Nagiging stiff yung hair after blowdrying. I use Thermasilk Shampoo and Conditioner too but i alternate it w/ Aveda coz I've read and Ive been advised by hairstylists that you can't use one shampoo for a long period of time coz it'll make your hair limp & build residue. Instead of Neutrogena Heatsafe, i use Sebastian Potion #9 or Paul Mitchell Anti-Heat before blowdrying. The former, you can buy at local salons but the latter's not yet available here. I'm pretty sure Kerastase carries a 'heatsafe' product too.

I used to before, but my mom would always scold me for it. :glee: Since then if i wanna dry my hair, i'd use an electric fan! :lol
But I use Bed Head Control Freak conditioner to tame my frizz. It pretty much makes my hair look pretty sleek, and I also use a Revo Styler hairbrush (http://www.revostyler.com). It's the best thing ever made! It's a rotating brush so you won't get those annoying arm cramp whenever you blowdry your hair. Plus, your hair doesn't tangle with the brush too! You can style it any way you like pa.. whether you want it straight, wavy, flippy, etc.

I used to blowdry my hair until it eventually learned its lesson and started "behaving". Now I let it dry naturally and it looks great.

Bed Head is by TIGI hair care products. I'm not sure where you can get one in Manila, but I buy online from www.drugstore.com
On the Revo Styler hairbrush, I got it from an infomercial :D You can visit their website at www.revostyler.com

On average I blow dry my hair about three times a week and have been able to maintain its health and shine. I use Paul Brown shampoo and conditioner daily, and a weekly hair/scalp treatment by Aesop. Before blow drying I use a straightening balm by John Frieda to avoid the frizz.

Pag lumalabas ako, I usually blowdry my hair. Almost everyday 'pag may school. Pero if bakasyon, pag lalabas lang....
I noticed nga that my hair started getting dry  kaya naman medyo rest ako ngayon sa blow dry..nakakasira talaga ng hair...
If you'll blowdry..use Thermasilk shampoo and conditioner...plus leave-on conditioner narin :)
Then, hot oil once a week...

Yup, but only thrice a week... I use Thermasilk shampoo and conditioner when washing my hair, then I use either Neutrogena Heatsafe (it's in liquid form, in a spritz bottle) or L'Anza Strait Line Temporary Curl Relaxer & Smoother (orange gel) or John Freida Frizz Ease (clear, gooey liquid in a glass bottle with a dropper)before blow drying. I actually have rather dry, frizzy, wavy hair when I dry it by an electric fan, so I really have to blow dry to tame my tresses. At first, nakakatamad coz it takes me 30 mins to an hour to blow dry it straight, and nakakatakot din kse baka lalong maging dry. So what I'd do is I only wash my hair every other day para nde pabayaan ko lang magsecrete ng natural oils yung scalp ko (makes my hair shinier and softer actually). Plus, nafflat pa yung hair ko which makes the blowdry effect better. Pero syempre pag nagpawis ako or mainit or lalabas ako sa kalye, nagshshower agad ako. Ok lang naman na nde ko paliguan yung hair ko araw araw (well, most of time, or pag nde nagwwork out or play ball or whatever) kse hatid sundo naman ako to school and my classes are airconditioned, so nde naman ako talaga masyadong pinapawisan, esp in the head. Anyway, I've been doing this for the past two years, and I have to say, better na texture and condition ng hair ko. It's not too dry anymore (under normal weather conditions) and it is actually shinier and healthier (nagpapa hair spa and protein treatments din ako every once in a while).

I blow-dry my hair every morning b4 going to school :) If I let my hair dry naturally, it almost always looks sabog, that's bcos my hair is a bit layered...If I don't get to blow-dry, I just tie my hair into a ponytail...hehe, the best cure for a bad hair day :)

i do. i sometimes iron it.
hindi ko naman lagi ginagawa yun eh.
i just do that pag may lakad ako.
pag nasa house ako air dry lang malimit.
but i use lotsa conditoner & heat activated shampoos to avoid split ends.
i dont comb or brush my hair often as well. i just stroke it with my fingers.
