I've never had long hair but I want to try now... aside from not seeing the barber, what else should you do? papano habang alanganin pa ang length niya?

Well right now I'm trying to let my hair grow...the style lately is retro...you know the 70's/beadhead kind of thing.

For me basically that is what you do, you don't cut your hair...but keep it nice and neat, trim it once in a while, brush it (very important). However...you need the right facial structure to make long hair look good, long hair isn't for everybody.

Well goodluck, don't be afraid to ask professional hair stylist either...:walkman2:

You can not go to the barber, specially if your growing your hair. If kept unattended, you're risking flyaways and wispy, damaged hair. Go to the barber every 3 weeks or so just to have a trim. Other than that, use the same regimen i guess.

Don't go to a barber. Joe Barber does men's hair cuts and wouldn't know proper styling and maintenance of long hair.

Instead, go to a stylist.

(Ok, so it sounds gay, but who cares? Try wearing an earring while you're at it.) Basically, you have to go at least once a month, to trim your hair about half an inch monthly. This is important. Otherwise, you'll be plagued by split ends and fly-away hair.
Find a good shampoo and conditioner. The whole hiyang concept isn't all hype. You'll want one that works well with your hair type. Straight, fine or limp hair will need different nutrients than thick, curly hair.
I try to shampoo once every other day, and condition at the same time. Washing your hair too often can actually deprive it of nutrients and those oils that make it more shiny / manageable. In fact, if you're about to get your hair treated, it's advisable to wash your hair the day before, but not on the day itself.
A good alternative (if you don't like the feeling of unwashed hair) is to alternate your shampoos. Use a light, cleansing shampoo one day then your regular, conditioning shampoo the next.
Brush your regularly. Brushes, not combs. Those Bench or Body Shop brushes with wooden handles are ok -- but to each his own.Kikay stuff follows, not for the faint of heart: Have a hot oil regularly. A good schedule is at the same time as you have your hair trimmed.
You might want to try hair straightening or rebonding if you have thick, curly hair.
If you really want silky hair, consider cellophane treatments. If you don't want to look gay, opt for a natural color.Heh heh... uh, make what y'all want of this post.

Im not a guy but when I want to grow my hair long, I always ponytail it. Especially if its at that "alanganin" length. Before you know it, mahaba na sya. This doesnt really make it grow any faster but at least you wont have to do all the kikay stuff raven enumerated. :)

Ano?! Si zimdude magpapa-long hair?! 'Di ko yata ma-imagine!

Just take good care of it. Always wash it thoroughly and make sure na you rinse off the shampoo. As long as your hair's healthy, mas mabilis hahaba 'yan. And don't sleep with your hair wet.

The longest I ever had my hair was just below my shoulders back in college. :D

Ako kasi sanay na me long pero not naman yung super long hair ha...siguro 6 months ko na ulit pinapahaba buhok ko kasi galing me sa super ikling buhok...

Everytime I want to go back to long hair, here is what i do:

regular shampoo is a must lalo na pag medyo pahaba na to keep it manageable and have it trim, as in trim, once in awhile para maging neat tignan at ala usli-usling buhok. And especially don't go to just any barber or parlor, yung usual na gumugupit sayo kasi hiyangan den ang pag gupit and to get what you want

don't forget conditioner. i also use johnson's baby oil with aloe vera. i don't know where my sis got it but i haven't seen it here. a drop of oil after shower keeps my hair from getting frizzy. my hair is curly and past my shoulders.

when i play bball or go diving, i usually wear a bandana so it doesn't get in the way. saltwater is a killer so lots a bit more conditioner and oil.

oh yeah, brush (not comb) frequently but gently.

My bf's hair is really long, hmm, i guess, shoulder-length or maybe longer. He always had his hair in a ponytail even when the length was "alanganin".

Hey! Any tips for nagpapahaba ng buhok... pero extremely wavy ang hair? I've been growing my hair for a while now but because my hair is kinda wavy, it looks sort of... big. Btw, bagay kaya ang long hair sa wavy hair?

I have thick, curly hair so I always have it straightened (the new procedure is called 'rebonding') once it starts to reach my shoulders. Not only does straightening it make it more manageable, it also makes my hair 'thinner' so it's not to 'heavy'.
