oh, that's too bad. handmade soaps are really many many times better than commercial soaps. and the benefits are far-reaching. hope you do get interested in them someday. but if not... oh well!

i like Fresh's Full Cream Milk bar!!! sobrang decadent, ang bango-bango pa! pag nga ito ginagamit ko, feel na feel ko maligo :glee:

i'd love to try Lush products, though, except that they're really too expensive...

okie dokie. i kept the brochures, so everytime i try something, i can grade my experience with the product. :)

so far i've tried: lavender (this is the one i always go back to), it's an A+; full cream milk A+, love it calendula A, olive oil B+, apricot scrub A-, mint cucumber-something A (you should buy this in the summer, to keep you cool!) next, i wanna try papaya, tomato and milk, malunggay and the sugar bar.

i also wanna buy the tomato and basil to keep by the kitchen sink. it supposedly wipes out garlic smells after cooking. :)

also, i always buy in twos so that i can get a green leaf mark on my frequent bather's card.

LUSH...tanong: di ba masyadong bumubula soaps nila? I bought the mint tsaka yung massage bar nila, ang tagal kong natapos maligo kc nga di bumubula sabon nila :( ...mahal pa naman!..but their OKRA hair conditioner is OK..

PS...saan binibili yung FRESH products?...am from Cebu kc.

pseudoADD
Aug 13, 2002, 09:52 AM
hi bancier and jade! fresh! is usually in kiosks. there are kiosks in alabang town center, filinvest, and in makati. there is most probably one more kiosk somewhere up north, but i can't remember where. where else pa ba? i used to have their paper bag pero someone used it. i'll try to look for it and post the other branches soon. in the meantime, maybe you can email the editor of fresh! news: kelly@pworld.net.ph for info.

bancier, i use a body pouf with my fresh! so that i don't waste it. it really lasts longer that way.

it would be nice if you guys try. life is short! use good soap!

i lifted this verbatim from the newsletter:
"soap is that slippery, pastel stuff which smells vaguely of flowers which you use to get yourself clean but otherwise do not pay much attention to, right? NOT ANYMORE! say goodbye to your dull (cometimes even harmful) commercial bars and say hello to the exciting world of ALL NATURAL, HANDMADE SOAPS! colorful, fragrant and ACTIVE ingredients take the blah out of bathing. experience for yourself the exciting, delicious art of bathing. with so many to choose from, you'll never use "boring" to describe your bath again. WARNING! expect frequent and logner bathing times. happy bathing!"

Qrius
Aug 13, 2002, 04:36 PM
hi! i was at the mall earlier and i saw fresh ! i remembered this thread and thought maybe i should check it out. i asked for full cream milk well, it's not really that fragrant as compared to the others but what the heck, someone swore by it! i might as well try it. i got the small one... P58 then maybe get the bigger one later if i get favorable result. there were smaller ones that are beautifully wrapped, i'm thinking it would be nice for wedding giveaways. :)

pseudoADD
Aug 14, 2002, 04:08 AM
yes, that list is for fresh. really bancier? i always wanted to try FRESH body lotion!!! sige nga. i will try.

fortune_cookie: re: FRESH prices... the cheapest is 50 bucks. that's the square kind. (haven't tried bubb-balls yet, but i guess it's cheaper still), the single bars are about 85-115, and i'm sure the loaves are much more economical, but they sure won't give you any variety, if you're the kind who wants to try a new bar each time your previous one has run out.

for gift ideas, try the 3-milk bars in one package. we gave that to one of our friends during her bridal shower when everyone else gave her undies. it comes with a miniature bathtub ala dispenser. after all, it all boils down to SKIN, and not undies on your wedding night!! :naughty:

nge... i re-read the Qrius' post and it said giveaways for weddings... sorry! oh well... i think that's a good idea too. how much are tiny ones with nice wrapping?

ako rin! :glee: kinda bad trip nga lang kasi hindi pala ito honored pag sale nila...speaking of which, hindi ko alam sa ibang stalls, pero dito sa southmall clearance sale nila! you can get as much as 30% off. i got the parsley and clay bar for only P63! kaya yung mga taga-south (o kung matiyaga kang mag-biyahe), bili na kayo dito... hindi ka lang nga alam kung hanggang kailan ito. akala ko kasi kaya sila nag-sale kasi isasarado na nila itong branch na ito, pero hindi pala, para lang daw maubos na yung stock nila!

pseudoADD, merong Milk bars sa southmall! 10% lang nga discount, so for the bath size na usually sells at 110, 99 na lang. discount pa rin yun!

Qrius, mabango yung milk bars pag ginagamit mo na! hindi mo kasi masyadong maamoy yung sabon sa mall. kasi nga sample na nila, naka-bukas na, kung sino-sinong humahawak... trust me, it smells wonderful! and i read recently in kinny salas' column in inquirer that boys/men like that fresh scent of milk products on girls! uuyyyyyy.....

Ang masaya sa thread na ito, lahat ng nag-reply so far eh mas gusto Fresh! :D iba na talaga pag gawang Pinoy... so fortune_cookie, obviously Fresh! is a local brand. Si Nelia Silverio Dee ang proprietor. At siya rin pala yung gumagawa ng Anonymous soaps!

and about gift wrapping, i'm not sure if this is the standard charge, but last Xmas i gave the 3-soap-pack as a gift and teh giftwrap cost P20 (if I remember correctly...basta mura lang).

Aug 15, 2002, 03:19 AM
juve_grrrl10: thanks! i'll try to go to southmall. milkbars are super popular in the branch where i buy, kaya sobrang sold out and hard to come by! really? boys like them? :)

well, yeah. our friend, to whom we gave the milkbars for her shower, said her brother likes the smell. he used them at one point, loved them, but stopped, kasi he didn't want to smell like a girl! i told him that there are GENTLEMEN ONLY bars at FRESH.

fortune_cookie : fresh is owned by a certain nelia (yeah, you're right, juve_grrrl10, thanks for supplying her full name as well as trivia!), a filipina, but i'm not sure if it's an international brand. what i do know is that the art of making soaps using the COLD METHOD, (which nelia uses...oooh! feeling close :) !) as opposed to the HEAT METHOD, like, say P&G and Unilever, has a strong following in soapmakers in the US.

LUSH.

Their stuff maybe a lil expensive compared to Fresh but their soaps are much bigger in size. Also, they're so creative...who wouldn't want a massage bar shaped like choc bars? Their stuff smells soooo good. My fave is Demon in the Dark and also their bath bombs.:)

LUSH!!!

Stand even three meters outside their store, and you can't help but notice the heavenly smells emanating from their soaps. When I feel down, and have money to spare, I buy 100 grams of the Banana Moon soap. Oh how I love the way it smells! Sure it melts so quickly, and will last a few days to a week at most, but it's still way cheaper than getting an aromatherapy massage.

OMG! isang linggo lang pala lifespan ng Lush soap/s? tapos averaging around P200 a bar... hmmm, I'll stick with Fresh muna! half the price, at sa gamitan ko mga 2-3 weeks ako nakakaubos ng isang bar. kung yung big size ng Milk bars minsan 1 buwan pa nga eh!

I am using Fresh! Tomato and Milk, super bango nga sya at excited ako maligo...kaso i noticed nagddry yung skin ko, unlike kapag johnson's milk bath ang gamit ko. Ayoko naman mag-lotion after kasi scented yung lotion ko, so natatabunan yung amoy nung soap...

For Fresh! users, hindi ba nagddry yung skin nyo after taking a bath?

leslie_ann, i use Tomato and Milk, too. ok naman sya sakin. i normally wouldn't leave the house without lotion...but on days when i'm in a rush and i have to skip on the lotion thing, my skin doesn't feel dry at all. baka hiyang ako sa tomato and milk. or baka sanay ka gumamit ng showel gel...maybe you should try other Fresh bars with moisturizer.

i gave a balikbayan aunt a bar of fresh, and she was so psyched about it. bilib na bilib siya! she even said she thought she saw nelia dee on tv talking about the soap on coffee talk. i told her i didn't see that episode. sabi niya she's almost sure that was her because when i showed her the brochure and she saw the pic, she thought the lady looked familiar.

anyone remember their soaps that they sold from barrels, and the soaps were also shaped like barrels? ang bango-bango kasi ng chocolate -- or was it orange? -- soap nila dito, eh hindi na yata nila ginagawa ito kasi hindi ko na nakikita sa stalls nila. pag tinatanong ko naman yung mga clerk, hindi nila alam. but the soap i really liked was coloured brown, and the scent reminded me of orange-flavoured chocolate, kaya ngayon hindi ko talaga maalala kung orange o choclate talaga yung pangalan. pero sigurado ako may isa pa silang scent nito na grass, kasi ito yung binili ng kaibigan ko.

di ko pa na-t-try yung fresh eh.

i've tried lush products palang. so far i love their "i must coco" soap. super bango rin and it smells so sweet. tinikman ko pa sha and truly, matamis sha. my skin feels so smooth afterwards.

i also tried lush's 'ibiza party shampoo' and their 'forever in bloom' conditioner. i discovered i am so sensitive to commerical shampoo that after i used lush hair care products, hindi ako nag-dandruff at all. nga pala, by using lush's 'soak and float' shampoo bar, my long battle with dry scalp was solved.

Fresh! has gotten itself a new customer thanks to this very informative thread!

I bought the tomato and milk soap last last week and I must say ang bango talaga niya! However, just like PearlM, my skin experienced dryness. Yung Full Cream bar ba hindi nakaka-dry?

Can someone post the descriptions of the other soaps?

Thanks! :cheese:

I've only tried one Lush product and that is "Plantation" solid shampoo with Persian henna. It did make my hair shinier and softer. My friends even thought I underwent hair rebonding. ;)

I want to try Fresh products. But the question is, DO THEY REALLY WORK? Kse I really, really get disappointed and depressed when a product doesn't live up to what is written in its package. Baka naman puro scents lang ang ibinibigay ng soaps nila? I want tangible and visible results, not just olfactory! :D

i've just checked the price of the shampoo and conditioner, and it costs Php 150.00/ 100g bottle. Pero it's so economical because you only need a small amount for a full lather. After using their shampoo, hindi na ako bumalik sa commercial shampoos. Since then, my scalp wasn't itchy at all, even if i wash my hair daily.

I also bought Fresh!'s Tomato and Milk. Nag-dry rin ang skin ko pero it smells really great. Try ko nalang ang Full Cream Milk next time baka sakaling hindi mag-dry ang skin ko.

I've also tried Lush's "Banana Moon" soap and it smelled really delicious. Kung gagamitin ko sha sa gabi, the next day, mabango pa rin ang skin ko. Kaya yakap ako parati ni honey

Sa dami ng handmade soaps na binili ko, i cut them into blocks and use them alternately... para every day, ibang "flavor"... everyday, something new to look forward to...

try niyo:
luscious olive - (from brochure) we just love what olice oil does for the skin. it keeps it moisturized and supple without being heavy or sticky. so we introduce to you this bar loaded to the max with olive oil and a cheering fresh scent

it won't dry the skin. kaso lang, i rate it a B+ for the olfactory effect. i was comparing it kasi to the smell of Body Shop's olive soap. that one has a stronger smell, but the Fresh! Luscious Olive is more moisturizing.

BaBy_gUrL_09 , o, that's one off the list you asked for! next time uli yung iba!!!

Yes, I agree with Zen. Me too, I use Lush Plantational solid shampoo for my hair and Fresh! Skin milk for my body.

Thanks to my friend Iya who gifted me with Skin Milk from Fresh! I've also tried Full Cream Milk. Is it just me or do these soaps sort of smell like Perla soap? Pero mabango naman sila talaga.

Almost all the Fresh! soaps claim that they have exfoliating properties. Is this proven? Is this the reason why the some of the soaps tend to dry up the skin? Ang dami ko na kasing nakitang handmade, herbal soaps na nagke-claim na nakaka-exfoliate sila. Feeling ko bogus.

As for Lush, I have only Plantational shampoo (P175) and I was happy with the result. They are very confident about the effectiveness of their products as what they said in their Lush newsletter.

lets put it this way..

Lush is really expensive... but the very instant you try the soap....
you'd find out why its expensive.... its really worth it.

as for the shampoo bars which cost 200+ a bar (a small circular soap) its really an experience. the size is very deceiving... cause just a little water and swipe it on your hands... it can make your hair lather like crazy.... no more conditioners....
when your hair dries...ang ganda ng bagsak..... no more bad hair day.......

i tried the one with peppermint...to stimulate the scalp.
lets just say i'm going to try the other shampoo bars cause its really worth it.

By the way.. if you have a RUstan Card... you get 10% off on Lush products.... so i make it point to bring along a card holder when i'm buying from Lush.

so my friends.. when you look at the price..
don't think of it as an expense...
think of it as an investment... for a finer healthier look.

dont take my word for it.. try the shampoo bars and tell us all about it.

grabe!!!! i wrote a lengthy reply to you juve, but when i pressed the reply button, i got booted out of pEX! boohoohooo...

and i didn't even save my message! darn!

that was two days ago

first of all.. naaliw lang ako sa mom mo, juve. i sometimes wonder whether or not i wanna buy a loaf of fresh too, but then i change my mind coz i'm the type who wants a variety of soaps all the time. not really loyal to one, although i do have favorites. second of all... hmmm... there isn't any! can't remember! sowee!

btw, melrosegirl, the kiosk you're looking for is actually near Lush. near the entrance of one side of the mall. can't remember exactly coz i hardly go to that branch.

dac

i was actually thinking of buying the pied de pepper foot cream. is the "pepper" peppermint? i just saw it in an ad in a magazine (mega) and i'm thinking of trying it. pero pangit naman if i go to the store, ask for a sample, and wipe it on my feet diba? can anyone vouch for this specific product?

when your hair dries...ang ganda ng bagsak..... no more bad hair day.......

asar naman yung customer service....kung ako ikaw, babalik ako doon at magre-reklamo ako at imbes na sila ang may alam eh wala pa silang maitulong sa customers nila! duh?

Try Washday greens shampoo and forever in bloom conditioner from Lush. I have really fine hair and i was amazed to see that my hair had life and body the first time I used it. And it doesnt develop any build up plus my hair is super soft and shiny. Definitely better than commercial shampoos.
For soaps, I like Fresh's Tomato and milk. Best I've tried so far among their soaps. Lush's Karma and Milko smells good and works well too.

Lush's conditioners are too light for my hair...medyo nag-dry ang hair ko. i've tried veganese and coolaulin...and even the strokes. i wasn't so happy with the results. i wanted to try forever in bloom but i don't like the smell. the shampoo bars (those round thingies) are good. i bought my hubby jumping juniper and it did wonders to his hair. i use it sometimes and it really makes my hair manageable.

Just use Lush's Buddha Bar or Plantation shampoo bars (best shampoo bars for black hair) and you wont even need to use any hair conditioner

PaJaMaS: These are the products that have been tested by my friends and I:

Cynthia Sylvia Stout shampoo - makes hair soft and smooth
Okra Conditioner - for shine
Antiphilitron shampoo - removes hair buildup( smells great too!)
Ibiza party shampoo - for shine and life
Trichomania solid shampoo - for dry hair
Dr. Peppermint - prevents falling hair
Ultimate shine shampoo bar
Plantational shampoo bar - for super shine

Enjoy!

i really like angels on bare skin from lush!!! :D my skin has become smoother and softer!

i have also tried ultimate shine shampoo bar with forever in bloom conditioner. when dry, my hair became shinier than usual but i had trouble combing it after showering (while it's still wet). it's even easier to comb when i use johnson's baby shampoo and pantene conditioner... but i'm still going to try either the plantational or buddha bar! hehe... :)

grabe! ever since i discovered lush, call it exaggerated but it completely changed my bathing habits! usually i spend like 15 minutes in the bath but now with all the lush products that i have, i can't even get myself out of the shower!

a must by: angels on bare skin. i have combo skin and it works for me! added plus pa yung herbal scent!

i also tried the okra conditioner. paired with the ibiza shampoo
it's your solution for soft, trouble-free hair. it's perfect for gimmicks too. as the bottle says, it lasts till 4 am.

if you want ultra shiny hair and your hair tends to dry using commercial shampoos, try the ultimate shine shampoo bar. not really that fragrant but what the hell, the name speaks for itself! as in may glitters pa yung bar!

try also the buffy teh backside slayer. it's good for those dark areas such as the siko, the singit...hihihi... just don't rub it into sensitive parts such as your boobies (and you're not that "*****" to do just that!)

also the soaps are great! kaso they tend to melt easily. as in the life span is a week.

i wanna try the plantational pero it looks intimidating! has anyone here used it? and what's the effect? diba it says it's for shiny, red glints?

pahabol... i tried the marilyn hair moisturizer. it's a good alternative for your typical hot oil!

I made a mistake in posting...I thought i was posting for the soap and shampoo thread. Oh well.

BaLdoMarO : It's the only soap I always come back for. The last time I went there, I got 600g of the soap.

I also got the Miranda, Sandstone soap and BAck for Breakfast as presents during my birthday. The miranda is ok but it smells too sweet so i don't feel clean after. The sand in Sandstone is a great exfoliant. The lemony scent makes me feel fresh all day. The body wash is a great pick me upper.

Lush makes bathing something to look forward to. ;)

safari_pooh : Yup there's one in Shangri-la. It's right in front of National Bookstore.
You won't regret using their products. And don't be discouraged by the stong scent of their store. Their soaps smell nice and subtle on your skin and makes your bathroom smell divine. :D

Its a breathtaking product, leaves your skin moisturised and supple...600 g is a bit excessive dont you think? Or maybe you got a lot of family members to share it with?hehe...Alkmaar is nice and creamy and has a lovely floral scent, i love how it suds up in the shower. Demon in the dark is nice esp. if you love the peppermint zing and that tingly sensation in the bath.

Artemis
Jun 9, 2003, 03:22 AM
I know 600g is a bit excessive but I put some of it in my room as air freshener. It drowns the cigarette smell whenever I smoke. hehe. The rest of it, I keep coz I don't want to run out it it. I cut it up so I don't put it to waste.

I'll try demon in the dark next time. Thanks! :D

I tried several Lush soaps but they melt really fast. The purple soap for men was a particular downer because it became too soft to handle and it had that sludge consistency when it loses half of its mass.

My friend has the same problem. Plantational dried out her hair and she became susceptible to split ends. I guess the product does not agree with your hair. Next time, buy a teeny weeny bit first and try it out before spending your hard earned dosh on a bigger block. Try Buddha Bar next.

The Fresh stall in Shangrila Mall has also gone missing in action. :(

I'm currently using Lush products and here's my faves:

[x]Angels On Bare Skin- definitely a must-have! I have combination skin and when I started using this, my pre-menstrual breakouts have considerably toned down. Also, it has made my skin smoother and more strokeable. More often than not I don't even wear blush or powder anymore! :*)

[x]Demon In the Dark- I'm such a sucker for everything minty that's why I just had to try this soap--and it's fab! Really wakes me up in the morning and the additional scent of apples gives it that extra yummy factor.

[x]Freeze- I use this whenever I have a slight cold or suffering from extreme morning 'katamaran'. Really clears my head in a snap. :glee:

[x]Washday Greens- still within the 'mint' product range-- I just adore its smell and the effect on my hair is brilliant! Made it more manageable without making my scalp itchy and leaving behind buildup.

I'm going to try their Mask of Magnanimity and Tea Tree Water next! :bounce:

:bounce: Couldn't agree more. use it for 2 weeks straight, and you'll notice a BIG difference in your skin. Extra Virgin olive Oil enhances the texture of your skin too.

check out the stall at town center. that's the price i saw when i was supposed to buy the tomato and milk. the round ones nga are 70 each already. they used to be around 55 lang d ba? well, there are a lot of handcrafter soaps being sold so i guess the competition is really tough. the bazaars sell it for 40-50 only.

I'm such a lush addict! I swear their stuff is so great! I have yet to try Fresh though. Haven't seen any of their kiosks/stores so if I do chance upon one, I'm getting one of their milk soaps since it seems a favorite among your posts.

For LUSH, there are four shops:
- in Glorietta 4, beside Mossimo
- in Greenbelt 3, near New World Hotel, a bit hidden but near the escalator
-PowerPlant, Rockwell
-ShangriLa Plaza

Among the products I've tried, I would gladly recommend the following:

(1) Fresh Farmacy - with calamine lotion, should be the answer to those with sensitive skin. A bit drying though, it must be coupled with a moisturizer. It dried out my skin, but Celestial moisturizer fixes that for me. Also, the calamine's supposed to minimize the redness.

(2) Angels on Bare Skin - a really good facial cleanser I must say. My skin feels so lovely afterwards.

(3) Tea Tree Water - hey, I haven't had a new pimple or a great breakout after using this. I've been using it since January 1 but I had my period this week, so that must mean a lot. See, I'm one of those pimple-prone girls with sensitive skin. Hmpf! I'd recommend this toner to those prone to acne.

So far, I will gladly recommend these products. My suggestion to those who wanna try Lush products, ask the Lush staff in the shop. They know their stuff and would gladly give you tips depending on your hair/skin type.
