San Beda's Sports Complex that is still under construction collapsed around 4:00 A.M. leaving 3 construction workers dead.

It's so sad........

ya its true my dad told me about this and i watched anc and it was confirmed that 3 people were dead. Lets pray for the souls of those 3 workers.

3 workers perish in campus accident

Three workers died on the spot after the scaffolding they were on collapsed while working on the construction site of the San Beda College gymnasium in Manila at dawn.


Manila mayor Lito Atienza and Metropolitan Manila Development Authority chairman Bayani Fernando, an engineer, said the contractor, Legacy Construction Corp. will be held liable if it is determined that there was negligence on its part.


Supt. Poblete Cordeto, an engineer and Manila fire marshal said he noticed that the scaffoldings were substandard and not fit for the type of work undertaken by the construction workers, who were pouring cement on a concrete gutter.


The fatalities, identified as Ferdinand Katigbak, Jimmy Tadena and Mario Vertina were crushed to death by the steel and concrete slabs. Several other workers were rushed to Mary Chiles hospital in Sampaloc and were last listed in stable condition.

The only thing is, at least it happened at dawn. Walang tao sa school. Except for the workers. Things would have been more difficult and tragic if the students were around. The contractor shall be held liable for this. They are short changing the school for doing substandard work and rendering substandard materials.

Imagine. It would have been worse pag nagawa na yung sports complex at tsaka palang gumuho. Ang lambot pala nung foundation ng mga steel and concrete slabs.

May the 3 workers rest in peace.

1. Workers' error. Aside dun hose that snapped (yung connected
dun sa cement pump).

2. yung steel bars na ginamit for the foundation ay undersized.
So , it failed to hold yung load na mabigat such as yung mga
steel bars and concrete slabs above the place where the
workers are doing their job. So, isang galaw lang nun.

Sana, I-investigate ng SBC ang iba pang parts nung sports complex.Maski na yung part na medyo nagawa na. Baka hindi lang dun ang may mali. baka ganun din yung ibang foundation ng building.

I am very saddened by the accident that occurred yesterday. Sa mga taong walang magawa at nirerelate ang tragedy sa superstitions at kung ano-anong elemento, sana makonsensya kayo coz you're ridiculing at the expense of others, especially those who died in the tragedy. Wala namang may gustong mangyari yun e. God has other plans for us.
Hintayin na lang natin ang results ng investigation ng city engineering office in order to find out who should be accountable for the tragedy.
I am extending my condolences to the families of those who died yesterday. May their souls rest in peace.

My deepest condolences to the families of the victims....the whole Bedan community mourns for all of them.

it could've been anyone. from the reports i've seen on tv & on insider info's, it was definitely an accident waiting to happen. those responsible for this should indeed answer & take on the repercussions that come w/ it.

i hope the admin would have a definite & swift stand on this.

Di kasalanan ng mga pari yun. Blame the contractor because i've heard they have violated a lot of stuff. I dunno what, I just heard it in the news last night. And you're not helping kung puro negativites lang iniisip mo. This is just a test because God knows San Beda can face this adversity head on. You're not looking at the bigger picture.

I agree. Besides, kung hindi naman pala kayang iguarantee ng contrctor ang kaligtasan ng lahat, hindi nila dapat tinangga yung trabaho. Let's think positive! Bright days will come for San Beda! God just wants to strengthen us - morally and spiritually!
