Ninjakid: I'll get back to you once I have more time to go over your post. Let's enlighten each other. :)
SILENTMAX: Eto, very busy. Ngayon lang ako nagpost rito. Anyway, had as much as 6 referrals from PEx and 4 of them from my WiTCGG thread. Nice info you got there about Intel. Basta high tech, dapat may high touch for it to succeed. Meaning, importante ang ease of use at siyempre useful din dapat. Yep, EB ulit sometime. Kaka-EB lang kaming nga techies last Saturday.
ladyluck: I suggest you take a look around you first, know what's out there, get some experience to know your capabilities and discover for yourself what you really want to do. :)

actualy po you got me there.... ive never been employed actualy i think im un-employable..... so i started my business
i did ojt for bpi for 3 months
i started my computer center when i was in 2nd year college
when i got up to 32 computer i branched out
i had my first branch in another town when i was in 4th year college
yes i did graduate, comsci :)
a year after that i had my first branch in a mall.
when i graduated i was so busy with my business that i couldnt look for a job(hesitant that nobody would hire me) so i just focused on my shops
right now im working on my organization structure perfecting my employee structure building my system so it could be easily replicable into a franchise setup
i would suggest kakristas advice in taking a look around couse the route i took was very harrowing sometimes it was very hard to sleep at night. took me 4 year to stabilize my operations i wouldnt really want anyone to experience what i had so now i suggest franchised systems to anybody wanting to start a business

sir hindi po
netopia is 60% owned by pldt netopia was formed by a couple of young men headed by a certain ricaforte. when they launched they were determained to turn their establishment into a franchisable system. they got the advisers that also helped jollibee into franchising. pldt seeing that it was a good business decided to acquire 60% of their company.

Try mu sa Divisoria or Quiapo... :)
Question: Kelangan ba talagang blackboard? Kung di naman, pwede naman siguro iba tulad ng black side ng illustration board, etc. :)

hi! tnx silentmax and krakista. =)
m working na,, employed na po ako though m not that satisfied sa salary ko, iniisip ko nga.. people who work for big companies, they just help the big bosses to become richer... pero *** kinikita nila, enough, or worse, kulang pa for their everyday living. so im planning to put up a business and at the same time nagwowork, according to this thread nga, para may fallback... magfafranchise na lang siguro ko ng KISS. squidballs yun, 150k yung franchise fee. i know medyo mahal dun pero i believe in their product naman kase, and it seems maalagaan ka talaga dun. im thinkin nga kung ano magiging outcome nito pero i know having a business is also taking a risk. hirap lang kase it involves a big amount of money. o pano po, just wish me luck ha. i think i have a good location naman eh. nga pala, i tried to contact the number posted here (sa first page yata) pero malabo eh. tnx anyway. ta. tnx ulet silentmax. =)

dunno bossBSC re smart ipo kung kailan nga ba. as long na nd ma settle which is which re cell sites kung kanino yun, controversial yung assets nila. hirap e spell. best way is to merge pltl with smart then secondary offering pero mawawalan ng wildcard c pldt nyan. ang matutuwa sa ganyang arrangement is yung mga creditors not pldt.

You got a dream and you make your move
You got the feel and you got the grove
You got the will and you gotta make it through
You got the power To make the stand
You got the mind to understand
You got the time you got the chance in your hands
So, you hold on to your dream
'cause you can make it happen
and though far it may seem
you know its surely coming
You dont give up the fight
you brave it through the night
for a new will day will dawn
To show you the light
You got the faith to run the race
You know the path you set the pace
You got his light above to guide your way
You see the rainbow through the rain
You see the prize beyond the pain
You know the test is but a part of the game
So, you hold on to your dream
Cause you can make it happen
and though far it may seem
you know its surely coming
You dont give up the fight
you brave it through the night
for a new will day will dawn
To show you the light
Refrain
So, you hold on to your dream
'cause you can make it happen
and though far it may seem
you know its surely coming
You dont give up the fight
you brave it through the night
for a new will day will dawn
To show you the light
You may stumble and grow weary
You may fall along the way
Get up and don't give up
I'ts okay
just hold on to your dream
Cause you can make it happen
and though far it may seem
you know its surely coming
You dont give up the fight
you brave it through the night
for a new will day will dawn
To bring you the prize
(just hold on to your dream 'cause you can make it happen)
HOLD ON TO YOUR DREAM...

A business without a sign is a sign of no business -buy and sell
A blind man sat on the steps of a building with a hat by his feet and a sign that read: “I am blind, please help.” A creative publicist was walking by him and stopped to observe he only had a few coins in his hat. He dropped a few more coins into his hat and without saying anything, took the sign, turned it around and wrote on it. He placed the sign by the blind man’s feet and left.
That afternoon the creative publicist returned by the blind man and noticed that his hat was full of bills and coins. The blind man recognized his footsteps and asked if it was him who had rewritten his sign and he wanted to know what did he write on it?
The publicist responded: “Nothing that was not true. I just rewrote your sign differently.” He smiled and went on his way. The blind man never knew but his new sign read: “Today is spring and I cannot see it.”
Change your strategy when something does not go your way. Present yourself in a different way when things are not working out. A change in outlook can turn your life around.

Depende ata kung franchise ang kukuhanin mo o equipment lang. The best thing to do is talk to someone who knows the procedure. My sister use to work for ATT Aqua (nag pa-franchise sila ng Water refilling station at nagbebenta rin ng equipments) she can give you contact numbers of people you could talk to. Try mo lang, just talking with them could give you ideas of how the business works.
PM mo na lang ako if your interested I'll give you her number.

Dear friend of Entrepreneur Philippines,
Before you shell out your hard-earned cash, do you know the qualities of a good franchise business? Do you have the traits to be a successful franchisee?
On September 17, 2003, we would like to invite you to attend our 3rd FRANCHISE LUNCH for 2003. Happening from 11 am to 2 pm at the 4th Floor Function Room of The Linden Suites, # 37 San Miguel Ave., Ortigas Center, Pasig City, this quarterly event aims to provide you the chance to hear about the opportunities available in franchising from successful business owners.
For this event, we have invited GMB Franchise Developers, Inc. Managing Director and Association of Filipino Franchisers, Inc. Treasurer Ms. Lyndah Bartolome to discuss these two topics:
Qualities Of A Good Business To Franchise
How To Be A Successful Franchisee
Co-presentors RED RIBBON, OUTLET YARD, and REYES HAIRCUTTERS will also share the many opportunities available to aspiring franchisees. Hear what they have to say about their businesses and learn what franchise business will be the best for you.
We hope that you will grab this chance to know more about franchising. Free food and drinks will be served.
Should you wish to confirm your attendance please answer this question: Are you interested in franchising? If yes, what kind of business are you willing to franchise? If not, why? Much easier if you're selling online services, where everything changes hands electronically. But not so much with B2B where many businesses would demand receipts for the purpose of VAT input.

What's the difference between a general and a limited partnership?
Krakista
Sep 16, 2003, 10:14 PM
http://www.chanrobles.com/legal5cc1c.htm
As a general rule, the liability of partners in a partnership organization is unlimited in the sense that the partnership creditors may run after them for any and all of their assets and property in payment of the partnership debts. Should one of the partners defray all liabilities of the partnership, he is entitled to be reimbursed by the other partners for their respective shares therein.
In the case, however, of limited partnerships, the law allows the limitation of the liability of certain partners to the extent of the amount contributed to the partnership.

SILENTMAX: Hindi ko rin talaga alam yung tungkol sa limited partnership na yan. Magaling lang ako mag-Google na pinag-uusapan lang ninyo. :D
As for the Koreans, magaling sila sa Game programming at sa mga online applications. Hindi natin teritoryo yan. Teritoryo natin ay ang mga business and wireless applications na unti-unting pinapasukan nila with the help of Pinoy programmers they employ. Maraming mga POS sa mga malls ay galing sa kumpanyang Koreano. I have heard people say Pinoys are generally not entrepreneurial. But when I see all those street vendors I tend to think otherwise. I think it's just many of them simply tend to think small. Here's some food for thought. How can we start thinking big? I was pondering this morning about this. Set a goal by filling in the blank of the phrase, I want to become the Jollibee of ____________. I can think of Figaro now as the Jollibee of coffee shops, Pan de Manila as the Jollibee of bakeries. And if you look closely, if someone can reinvent coffee and pandesal, something quite basic and many simply have for breakfast, then there's still really a lot of business that can be done.
In my case I want to become the Jollibee of Philippine software.
Kayo naman!

I want to be the Maersk of the Solar System someday. yeah, space age na tayo, dream bigger.
I just hit a brick wall though, was eyeing this essential piece of real estate to lease and it has been deserted forever and all i could get out of the guy's secretary was 'he's stilll undecided, we've had several offers in the past and... well we'll call you.' So the owner doesn't need the profits, just no sense in making a piece like that go to waste when it could have made the two of us profit from it. Cost so far, 2 weeks worth of sleep and my pride going down the drain. Oh, i drafted my first business plan. Eyy, maybe it was worth the experience after all. =)

Anyone know of any Local Soft Ice Cream Machine Vendors? I mean those who fabricate their own machines:
I already have the address of the company distributing the McDo/Jollibbee ice cream machines in Makati, and one addressed in Malabon. I just want to know of others and support local industry if possible.
Octoberfest/ Christmas coming up: Any body have some thing brewing?
For those of you into the tiangge/ food stalls, has anyone heard of the Lights and Laterns Festival? Heard it was near the Boom na Boom or Star City along Roxas Boulevard and going to start running this mid November for 45 days. Cost of stall is around 30k i heard. I'll have the details the next few days from a friend but was just wondering if anyone has been there.... I would like to solicit ideas for products to sell there. I'm thinking quick snacks.

Want to "play" your way to healthy finances? Join us at AIM!
The Asian Institute of Management, in its continuing effort to fuse Robert Kiyosaki concepts in its curriculum, is now holding professional Cashflow games this coming September 28 and October 5, 2003.
You may have heard of Robert Kiyosaki's Cashflow board game through his Rich Dad Poor Dad series. But to those not familiar, it is a board game akin to Monopoly, but deals with more advanced topics such as business, stocks and real estate. More than anything, it lets players realize their money habits and their sense of business risk. The game is very educational as it prepares your mindset when you go out in the real world on your path to financial freedom.
The game will give us learning on:
1) Basic fundamental of investment;
2) Different vehicles available for you to invest i.e real estate, stocks, businesses and how to create your investment portfolio;
3) How to manage your Cashflow;
4) How to negotiate deals;
5) Understanding figures as in good return of your investment;
6) What the rich invest in that the common people don't;
7) How to leverage on other people money and time;
8) What are assets and liabilites;
9) How to built multi-millions from a small income and many many more.
We're privileged to have with us a professional Cashflow mentor and trainor to conduct the games at AIM. He previously served in the insurance industry and is a member of the prestigious Million Dollar Round Table (MDRT). He has since gone into business expanding it not only in the Philippines but also to Singapore and Malaysia.
The games will be held on the following Sundays: Sept 28 (8am - 1pm) and Oct 5 (1pm - 5pm) at the Concepcion Rm., 3rd Floor, ACCM Bldg, AIM Campus, Paseo de Roxas, Makati.
Tickets are at P800 per session, snacks included.
Tickets are available through me. Contact me at 0919-3813085 for details.
This is a limited seating engagement.
See you then!

Question:
How do you submit business proposals to potential business clients?
You see, we have a security agency business and the main problem I face is how to find and submit proposals to potential clients.
Our admin manager said that most of the time, there are under the table negotiations involved, my question is, how would you penetrate the market when you have to consider those things?
I was looking at the option of networks, but that 's another story.
Any tips guys? I know I shouldn't be asking these things but If I really wanted to salvage my dad's remaining stable business enterprise, I would need some help from other entrepeneurs like him.
Thanks.

Can I be a part of this thread? ;)
Its just that I am a frustrated Entrepreneur. I own a very small computer shop in the province (4 Terminals) and its kinda earning around 300+ a day. I was planning on purchasing more computers kasi most people who wanted to play usually leaves dahil in group sila (mga 6 pataas, so kung di sila sama sama maglaro, ayaw na nila)...
Here is my dillemma.. I am planning on buying 7 more computers to bring the total number of workstations to 10 (for now since one of my computers is defective).. But the thing is.. it would cost me around 130,000 to buy those 7 units and probably (hopefully) it can provide me with an estimated income of 1000 a day. ( malapit kasi kami sa commercial area so mejo madaming naglalaro sa amin)
My question is natatakot akong umutang sa bank dahil baka hindi ko mabayaran.. And I dont know kung saang bank pwedeng umutang na may maliit na interest.. :( I am currently employed anyway so mejo may assurance naman yung bank na mababayaran ko sila although I cant present them a collateral dahil wala naman akong sariling property e.. :( Too bad..
Can anybody please help??
PLease Please Please???
I really need some financial advice now. I am planning kasi to give the income of this shop to my parents dahil pareho na silang unemployed ngayon e.. :~(
Thanks a lot guys..

dis wouldnt really help much but here goes
my mom invested 10k back in 85' with a neighbor it was montesorie or something i think they just acquired the name similar to a franchise.
she started in her house 2 rooms ata yun
raming bata it looked more like a day care center than a school.
well needles to say it was succesful and right now yung school na yun has college subjects na ata and sits in a prime lot location and is huge :)
weird thing is my mom never got her money back kahit ma ibalik nalang daw yung pera nya ok na 10k rin yun. the school was sold in 98 or 99 kasi and the shares were handed out.
hai buhay nga naman.

investment in education is such a big deal which explains the sudden popularity of pre schools.
its kinda an upscale market so you wanna pay close attention to location cause theres a minimum requirement of 300sqm for a pre school facility.some got away with it if the location is hidden somewhere away from the main road.
you can go for a franchise(the fastest way) or team up with someone with a degree in child education.
that way you have someone to rely on for the curriculum while you handle the administration and financial aspect of running a school.
it can be a lucrative business if you target the upscale market

even if its a day care centers you still have to come up with some sort of program and workshops for kids. is this is weekend thing
or a regular basis for small unsupervised kids at home whom the parents cannot leave behind?
if its a mall thing, i guess a play oriented area with a small library or napping corner would be fine.
*new idea*
an aquaintance organized a summer playschool for kids.
each parents will volunteer their house for a meeting each week
and help chaperon all the kids.
the organizer provided the transportation to the house and organized the games and workshop for the week.
this goes on for the whole summer, each parents participating
on an assigned week. refreshments are provided by the volunteer parents of the week.
low overhead, lots of fun if youre into kid developments stuff.
anyway hope you watched the eddie murphy "Daddy day care" movie. its a glimpse of the day care business thing
with its ups and downs

Here is my dillemma.. I am planning on buying 7 more computers to bring the total number of workstations to 10 (for now since one of my computers is defective).. But the thing is.. it would cost me around 130,000 to buy those 7 units and probably (hopefully) it can provide me with an estimated income of 1000 a day. ( malapit kasi kami sa commercial area so mejo madaming naglalaro sa amin)

try Standard Chartered or PSBANK. they give out loans as fast a two weeks without collateral. I recently loaned 100K from the. payable in 12, 24 or 36 months.
But for me the best deal is 12 months since interest rate isn't that high. its 1.65 per month compounded. so around 20% in 12 months.
I'm planning to put up my own computer shop this quarter. But i'm trying to decide if I should opt for a mall-space food cart or a computer shop near our place.
What do you guys think?
Setting up a computer shop would set me back around 120K while the food cart, around 100K.
here are the facts:
1. I already have the food concept, planning to put it up at SM Fairview or Sta Lucia East. I don't have any experience though so its kinda risky. Planning to sell drinks.
2. The computer shop may set me back 120K but after renovation and purchase of the PC units, ok na since I don't need to pay for rent (we own the place). Thing is the place is kinda "hidden" from the main road. and its nowhere near any commercial area.
Any suggestions?

sorry ang dami kong tanong :) any comments would be greatly appreciated :) thanks :) hi! i'm usually quiet sa thread na to... *lurker* but it's so informative and it helps to know that there are other struggling entrepreneurs out there! Inspiring din when one of us makes it big. :)
I think it's been said that the way to get your ideas is to find a need and fill it in a way that is a) better than how it is met by other businesses or b) in a unique way.
By the way, warning to those who want to start a biz and are just thinking of registering it... don't do it in the third and fourth quarter. After the first half of the year, municipalities will only grant you a permit for that quarter, meaning you'll have to renew, whether or not your business is up and running.
I had this problem in Mandaluyong. I had to get the municipal permit among other things to have my O.R printed, and unfortunately, it was a rush job, since I had landed a good deal. this was last month. lo and behold, they're requiring me to renew this OCTOBER for the last quarter, and it's and additional 3,500. makati only charges 1,500 and that's at least half a year. I don't know if my accountant is screwing me blind or what but that's a bloody lot of money, considering I haven't finished the job and I HAVEN'T MADE ANYTHING YET. I can't stand it!
Oh, and wela, don't quit your day job just yet. You'll need something (unless you've saved up a huge nest egg) to fund and feed the new biz until it can fend for itself. :)

Hi there Annoying Bread..
Since I became interested in franchising Nacho King, what I did was to look on some stalls on the malls (Glorietta, Megamall and Southmall) if the store really does well. And from what I have noticed, it is not really that 'selly' (if there's such a word :D ) to the public as compared to, say like, Brownies Unlimited or Quickmelt. But it may depend on the place where you want to sell, maybe the reason why its not really doing very well on these places is because there is a lot of competition..
Good luck!!

The thing is that I am inquiring in a lending agency and they don't demand any collateral - that is why (according to them) that the rate is really that high as compared to a bank. Just wanted to Benchmark and hear from people who already had gone through this. ;) Baka kasi sobrang taas talaga nitong Loan na 'to.

my loans are pegged at 19% anually
its not from the banks we have a internal loan program within the families. (heheh parang the god father )
this is similar to the binondo style chinese families. where your colateral is your face value.
get a small loan and start from there i started borrowing at 30k payed it in 3 months. kept on doing this for the past 4 years. i had to pay on time and early to build credibility.
this has been talked about in the business world as family angel investing. somtimes your network in the family is what mostly will get you up and running. pero beyond that theres no choice but to go to the banks.

Subject: Job Interview
John, who was born without ears, needed to hire a new Bank Manager. He
set
up three interviews.
The first guy was great. He knew everything he needed to know and was
very
interesting. But at the end of the interview, John asked him: "Do you
notice anything different about me?"
"Why, yes, I couldn't help but notice that you have no ears," came the
reply. John did not appreciate his candor and threw him out of the
office.
The second interview was with a woman, who had been with the bank a
long
time. She was even better than the first guy. But he asked her the same
question: "Do you notice anything different about me?"
"Well," she said, "you have no ears." John again got upset and tossed
her
out.
The third and final interviewee was the best of the bunch. He was a
young
man who had recently earned his MBA. He was smart. He was handsome. And
he
seemed to be a better businessman than the first two put together. John
was
anxious, but went ahead and asked the young man: "Do you notice
anything
different about me?"
And much to his surprise, the young man answered, "Yes you wear contact
lenses."
John was shocked and realized this was an incredibly observant person.
"How
in the world did you know that?", he asked.
The young man fell off his chair laughing hysterically and replied,
"Well, it's pretty hard to wear glasses with no f&%&%cking ears!"

I am now applying for PSBANKs Flexi Credit Line. It's a credit card type but your credit line is on a cash basis (obviously from the title.. :D ). The interest is not that high, a mere 2.0% a month and the requirements are not that many either. I think this might help those people who needs instant cash anytime, anywhere.
Ako kasi, I needed to have some money to buy additional computers on my mini Computer Cafe. Baka meron pala kayong alam na lugar where pinakamura yung mga computers (aside from Greenhills).. Thanks. ;)

upon further investigation i have observed nacho king to be laggin in malls. there are customers but few and far in between this is directly opposite of their roving carts and stalls outside of malls. which are actualy making money. youre plan to put it near a schools is an excelent idea. remember their(students) allowances allow them only so much to eat and nacho kings price is really within anyones budget. it used to be to save up one would eat skyflakes. 5 pesos per pack( still amazing on how many college students do this)
nacho kings kesorap is priced at 5 pesos. and they also have nacho's for 5 to 10 pesos.

Weaning Yourself Off Adrenaline
How to say no to the “next big deal”
January 22, 2001
By Sharon Keys Seal
Q: I've always wanted to own my own business. My problem is, others must smell the entrepreneurial spirit in me because every network marketer, salesperson of ice cubes in Antarctica, and get-rich-quick fraud in the country seems to be attracted to me. Over the years, I've invested a lot of time and money and energy into these "deals" —some work and some don't. My question is, how do I stay motivated during the lean times? How can I learn to say no to the adrenaline rush of the quick win and learn to focus on long-term, more stable offers?
A: One of the things I've noticed about entrepreneurs is their propensity to become powerfully addicted to adrenaline. Like most drugs, the effects are euphoric but short-lived, and it's definitely not a long-term source of motivation.
My clients often confuse energy with motivation. Motivation is what pulls us towards a goal. It can be external to ourselves (money, for instance) or internal (the desire to feel respected, for example). We get to our goals by using energy, which can come in two basic forms: that which is "clean," and that which is not so clean and may even cost us our health or well-being. An example of clean energy might be that which we get from mastery of a task. It might also derive from our love or concern for others.
Unfortunately, many of us turn our backs on the healthy energy in order to draw on other, more dangerous kinds of energy. Adrenaline is one of the prime examples of a source of energy that's taxing to our bodies. Other examples might be caffeine, guilt or righteousness.
With that in mind, my suggestion to you is to instead find the core elements in the ventures that motivate you. Is it intellectual stimulating? Is the business technologically challenging? Will you be creating or selling a unique product? Do you see any common thread in the business opportunities that especially appeal to you? Therein may lie the source of your real motivation.
Try setting parameters for any foray into a new venture. These might be financial (for example, it may generate—but not promise—revenues of X, require Y amount of capital or have a profit margin of Z). Or you may decide on parameters based on industry, size, environmental impact or target market.
Try rejecting a few opportunities just to get a feel for saying no. Contrary to popular myth among entrepreneurs, "no" isn't a four-letter word. It can save you much heartache and many dollars.
Instead, look for business opportunities that fit your core motivations. Then hold them up against your basic parameters. It might be worth taking a closer look at those that pass both tests. For motivation, affirm your logical and strategic approach to taking on new business ventures. Key in to what motivates you besides the adrenaline rush. You can still have adventure and blaze new frontiers without that

gracias98, have you thought of just putting up a nacho stand minus the nachoking name? Getting a Nachoking franchise just gets you a steady supply of nacho products to sell. But have you looked at other sources? Have you compared their prices? Dapat ma mababa ang isa-supply nila sa yo or it becomes pointless to get from them. If others are cheaper, what's gonna stop you from substituting from others?
SILENTMAX, may EB pa ba this November? Just to let you know I'm thinking of doing one this December. It's a Xmas EB/Party mainly for these TWF people who don't have Xmas parties of their own. Hirap gumawa ng EB ngayon di tulad dati. I think the main reason is the inaccessibility of PEx to the spiders of Google and other search engines. Kaya bagsak rin ang quality ng mga post unlike before. Before, many found PEx via the search engines. Now ,lalo na sa TechToday, you see some questions asked that should have gone through the search engines muna.

Will send sir krakista a PM for arrangements for the venue.
Also, hope you guys and gals managed to catch the trade fair at the world trade center last weekend. It was a blast... yun, inspiring talaga. Sayang nga I won't have time to organize a speakership with one of the veteran entreps....
Speaking of inspired, wouldn't it be cool if we eventually became an org? :D tapos we can hold seminars, and meetings, etc...
Mym = nangangarap ng gising once more.
pls pls pls Entrepreneurs young or old lets all try to attend this. who knows some people you might meet might have a quanxi(a destined meeting) effect on you :) AMEN.

hi! you see our family business is selling vegetable seeds...is it possible na mag add ako ng product (eg. food) other than the seeds to sell sa office? extra income *** for me...do i have to get a permit from the government for it? btw, our office is located sa baba *** ng house namin and we own the place so i don't have to pay rent, etc...
since i'm just a fresh grad and have no experience watsoever in the business world i would appreciate your advice very much!
tnx!

Ok, let's do it early evening on Dec. 6. I think the venue doesn't open till evening but it's not in a mall so we avoid the xmas crowd and need not queue for parking. We can just park right outside of the venue.
ENTREPRENEURS & TWF XMAS EB
6:30PM December 6 SATURDAY
My Bro's Mustache
146 Jupiter cor. Saturn,
Bel-Air, Makati
I'll make a separate thread for the announcement if you'd like to get more people to attend.

Since it's a commercial establishment, i assume we're no longer going potluck. Do we arrange to have activities or do we just wing it? do we need to reserve the place?
