Napakalaking issue talaga yan ngayon kasi syempre nakakapanibago yun na may girls na sa beda di ba? Para sa akin, disagree ako sa move na ginawa ng administration kasi in the first place, mawawala na yung reputation ng beda as an exclusive school for boys. I think dalawa na lang yata ang all boys school ** sa manila(the other one is Don Bosco). But somehow i also agree kasi makakasabay na tayo sa ibang universities ngayon dahil sa madadagdagan ang mga courses na maooffer sa students

CAS COEDUCATIONAL

By decision of the Board of Trustees (July 27, 2002) the College of Arts and Sciences will admit female students starting next Academic Year 2003-2004. Rector, Fr. Anscar J. Chupungco, OSB, instructed the CAS Administration to formulate the policies and prepare the mechanics thereof.

It should be noted that the College of Law, College of Medicine, and the two Graduate Schools of Business and of Liturgy are coeducational, and that the Grade School and High School Departments will admit girls when they transfer to the new campus in Filinvest East County (Rizal).

Yet it's true and I agree that San Beda has to change in order to survive, the school should not put up with some drastic measures just to force change. Change, must start from within. Although we would be needing external factors in our course of evolution, the key to a successful change is from the inside. Accepting ladies must come later on when we have already established a strong institution by ourselves.

anyways, now on the topic, i guess we should try out the co-ed system...hey! co-ed is a good thing because since i was in kindergarten, i studied in a co-ed school...if the system won't work in ten years (let's give it some time), then future bedans should protest to this and go back to the old way, being san beda an exclusive school for boys...you guys may think that this is a stupid or we don't believe in it because we (well at least some of us) haven't experienced the feel of having a co-ed system

look at DLSU and ADMU, they were struggling during the first years of being a co-ed school but in the long run, look where they are now ;)

Yes, it is true that the Bedan charisma seems to fading lately, but I tell you - Bedans are capable of competing with Ateneans and Lasallians. Why do I say so? Because I'm currently studying in DLSU! Modesty aside, I find the training in DLSU far easier than what I had in San Beda. I know for a fact that news on how competent Lasallians and Ateneans are in speaking English has been exaggerated by their reputations! I ask you, "Does accepting females in San Beda mean that the whole Bedan population would be competent in English?"

Bakit kelangang MAGCOED...
1. San Beda College is needed to grow na rin... ang alam ko, one requirement daw to become a university is dapat COED na...
2. Sbi lang to ng mga colleagues ko, kelangan na rin ***** because of the increasing number of gays in San Beda... kung walang girls, naghahanap... un... nakawit... sad reality for some gays but true

Bakit hindi bagay maging COED ang beda?
1. Masaya ang beda talaga pag... lam mo na, d old ways na puro lalaki, mas naeemphasizes siguro *** "For Boys Only". Kalokohan at *** mga nakakatawang ugali ng bedans...
2. Siguro, Mga lalaki ang mga nasa beda, mas makakapagexpress sila ng kanilang mga sarili because of the absence of the opposite sex.
3. Tradition's sake.

Well, kahit ano pa man siguro ang desisyon... At least, sana mabuhay uli ang Bedan Spirit that I still have pa rin...

Well, we have to admit, SBC alumni or not, wala na tayong magagawa dito. The admin wants it and it seemed, after hearing their plans of uplifting the status of San Beda from college, to a university (pati yung mga courses na gagawin nila...facilities etc), okay naman. Noong una, para nagdodoubt pa ako, pero when I heard their plans (the admin) it seemed naman na it is for the best.

I heard they are trying to call yung mga bedan alumni from the different industry (business, computer etc) to teach at the future San Beda University...

Given the chance to teach my fellow Bedistas with the addition of the future Bedan women in the SBC community, I would be more than happy to accept the challenge and lend them my services...

As for these changes and the bedan tradition...I just hope the future bedan women would be able to hold on to the bedan spirit just as what we did, and proudly carry our red and white flag just the way we did....

I support the implementation of the co-educational policy for the next Academic Year 2003 - 2004.

The arguments regarding culture and tradition of San Beda is very pointless. Whether we like it or not or even if the school remain an exclusive for boys, the culture and tradition of the community will evolve because it is man-made and man alone can change it.

If the stuents really cares for the school then they should not be destructive or be an obstacles for its development. Let the school undergo a "paradigm shift" wherein it can find its place both in local and global competitiveness.

The students should give a chance to the administrators becasue after all they own the school and i think they will not do a move can destroy the school.
