You sound like you're conducting a survey.
Anyhow, yes I would like to put up a web front only if it our local banks were more lenient in allowing small and new companies to have an affordably and reasonably tarrifed merchant account.
Secondly, in line with this, banks should also advise online merchants to protect themselves by installing software that statistically reduces fraudulent transactions.

erm...I don't think Unionbank's facilities provide for processing international transactions since that is where my market is.
If they had I would have availed of it a long time ago and they haven't been advertising it nor have they responded to my queries about it.
Primarily banks here are overtly precautious, though for good reasons, they tend to provide a greater disincentive for people to avail of such services. Imagine, an automated online transaction would cost 10% of the bloody cost of the product.
This is obscene.
Anyhow, on your data gathering, unless your format is an interview I don't think you'd end up having a reliable measure of how things really are on the ground.
It would be better to introduce yourself as a researcher and ask more pertinent questions.

TNT: wait a minute...i'm just asking relevant questions and i need not to be introduced to be a researcher for people to post on this...we dont need to be formal on this site...dont forget that this is pinoyexchange: speak your mind! i just want people to express what they think about it and that's all...

I'm not making strict prescriptions. But it just seems unwittingly unfair for people to help you out in your quest for info, without being informed properly.
Just keeping things open spinay, not that I'm being prudish (ako pa). ;)
I've got solutions that are effectively freeware and customizeable. Why should I pay for anything else?

I'm not afraid to sell online, it's just the people that I sell to that bothers me.
I'm the manager of our e-commerce department in the company that I'm working for. Just last week, we had a fraudulent customer who bought a piece of jewelry and used somebody else's credit card. One of my staffs shipped it via UPS to a 'questionable' address.. it was a room in a hotel in Delaware. she thought it was a gift for someone but three days later, Mastercard wrote us a fraudulent claim that someone used their customer's credit card - and yes, it was a fraud. One bad transaction. :(
One piece of advice: Never ship the item to any address except on the address on the credit card itself. So If the customer didn't order it, she will still receive the item(s) and return it. One more thing, make sure that anything you ship is signed and insured.
You can e-mail me for any advice :)

Orders from Indonesia, Eastern Europe, Russia, Malaysia, and at times Thailand, are largely fraudulent. 99.9%

sell online? definitely. i've been doing this for almost two years now. at first, i used classifieds. i'd post my wares on classified ad sites or answer the wanted ads of people. but classifieds are too stagnant and slow. online auctions are better. if you guys want to sell something online, do it through the auction sites, whether it be local or international. so far, all my buyers have been local. i've had transactions with people from bacolod, davao, and cebu. everything went off without a hitch. if there's one thing i've learned, only accept cash payments. or, have the buyer deposit his/her payment into your bank account. of course, only deliver the goods/items once payment has been made.
right now i'm dealing with someone from singapore. he's gonna send his payment in US$ through registered mail. my problem is how to ship my item to him. the courier rates for parcel delivery to sg are more expensive than the item he's getting! and i'm sure most of you would agree with me when i say that i don't want to resort to or trust the phil postal service. what should i do? can anyone recommend a courier service?
getting back to the topic (sorry), i've been earning an extra $40-$60 a month since i started 2 years ago from online selling and other opportunities. if you're interested in doing the same, you can check out my web page in my profile. :)

eligoy, if you have a business opportunity to promote or advertise, give it the respect it is due by putting in in its own thread. This is the second place I've seen you inviting people to see your web page.
